97] - [The Dark Wall]

"..."

Peeking at Alexander's inner turmoil, Valtos sighed.

"Like I said. I do not know. A legend is but a legend, nothing to take too seriously."

'Trying to swallow back your words? Too late I'm afraid...' Not pushing his luck, Alexander felt that information about these Primordial Humans would come to him on its own one day. Something so striking was obviously researched about constantly.

Even if Valtos did not know, would someone from the Core Territory lack such knowledge as well?

It came down to cultivation once again. The more might he would obtain, the more he would know and understand.

Almost there, the group saw a giant castle floating into the void. Behind it was a giant circle of tamed flames, similar to a life wheel. It was orange and yellow, with some white in the middle. The light it emanated made it feel like the void would turn ablaze at any moment.

The heat could be felt from an incredible distance, while Valtos halted his steps suddenly.

"I forgot to mention this... but Limbo is not like my internal world. In here, Humans are not the dominant race. At least we are not absolute. Since you have both gone past the Instinct Liberating Realm, nothing should happen, but please mind your actions!"

Frowning, they both nodded in unison.

'Is this Third King not Human?' Guessing the reason for this abrupt information, Alexander did not pry further.

After going through some checkpoints and corridors amidst halls, the trio found their way into a giant room.

This room was quite cozy, and clearly unofficial. Apart from a desk, the room was not professional in any way.

Behind the desk, a young man was seated. Behind him was a yellow life wheel of fire. It was ablaze, yet did not deteriorate from these ever burning flames.

His blonde hair short, he raised his gaze from a piece of jade to Valtos.

"Junior Valtos, what gives me the honor?"

"Senior Sunos, this junior wanted to ask about this junior's presumptuous request."

"Oh. It's about that. No worries~, I won't cheat you. It will be ready next month and delivered right to your doorstep!"

Narrowing his eyes, Valtos cupped his fists.

"If that is the case, this junior shall thank senior Sunos in advance. Please excuse our disturbing presence. We shall excuse ourselves now."

During this short exchange, both Alexander and Lei Diesto realized the man named Sunos to not be Human as expected.

While he may appear so, his eyes could not lie. Humans could obtain various eyes from cultivation and evolution, but eyes resembling stars were not one of them. Alexander felt like Sunos' eyes were suns disguised as eyes. Their rampaging heat and powerful demeanor could not be faked so easily.

Exiting the castle, Valtos had a dark face.

Being looked by Lei Diesto with eyes burning from curiosity, Valtos exhaled loudly from his nostrils.

"Don't look at me like that. I was supposed to get a shipment of Origin Stones for my faction last century, but a delay happened. I wouldn't have to act like this if senior Sunos, this piece of garbage, wasn't so influential!"

"Be wary of him, while he is technically only the Third King, his reach even makes the Second King, senior Malor, tremble in fear! The only ones capable of stopping him without dying in their sleep are senior Uryl, the First King, and Monarch Lu."

"Remember this you two, in Limbo, cultivation can only carry you so far! Even with a higher cultivation base, senior Malor doesn't dare fight with senior Sunos. The reason is simple, connections!"

"Senior Sunos is more than capable of hiring assassins strong enough to deal with senior Malor. Now, look at those portraits."

Extending his arm, Valtos made three balls of Origin Energy change shape. One was the face of a middle aged man with blue hair and a blue shaved beard while another was a handsome middle aged man with sharp features and dark hair.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

The last one was a robust man with slender features, his long blonde hair fell backward like a waterfall, a crown of sparkly materials accentuating his charisma.

"The blue haired one is senior Malor, the dark haired one is senior Uryl and the last portrait is a depiction of Monarch Lu."

"No matter what, do not offend any of them! I won't be able to save you, no matter how much you plead. And that is also valid for senior Sunos."

Seeing them nod, Valtos sighed in relief.

"Now, we shall head to our base!"

After travelling for a few decades, even with Valtos' speed, the journey ended up both incredible and boring. The black void was everywhere and easy to feel underwhelmed after seeing it for years. But along the way, where worlds were sparse, those Primordial Humans' remains were quite common compared to Alexander's estimations.

He believed them to be somewhat rare, and while true, the decades long journey still made them cross paths with dozens of them.

They witnessed humongous skeletons, from damaged to complete, quite often.

Each time Alexander saw one, his body would react slightly. He felt as if a superior being was staring at him. It was both a sense of familiarity and hierarchal dominance.

Overlooking a translucent path, the trio stepped on it. The path was cold in color and emanated a white glow. It was broken everywhere and led to a distant place in the void.

After reaching the end point of this path, Valtos waved his hand.

A distortion in space, a barrier dispersed.

What came into view was a black wall made from a peculiar material. It was as if a metal looked like stone in texture, but not shine.

This wall expanded from left to right everywhere in sight. And from time to time, black structures would emerge from it.

On the right, far into the distance, a giant gothic castle was rooted in place.

"We're here. Take these tokens, they prove your identities. I will go to my residence that you see to the far right, while you two head left, where recruits converge."

Dissipating, Valtos left Alexander and Lei Diesto dazed in the middle of space.

'At least I can fly.'

Following the tall castle wall on their right, both Alexander and Lei Diesto found themselves flying for weeks before finding the end.

'According to Valtos, this wall is the entire base.'

There was nothing behind or in front of this wall. The tall and shiny black castle wall went on for an incredible distance. But what made it peculiar was its insides. It was not the wall of a base, it was the base itself. From time to time, a structure would be erect from the wall's upper portion. These structures were the same color and material, with some windows here and there.

Near the end of the wall, Alexander noticed a few people with a similar attire to one another standing guard.

The wall was wide but not so much. Alexander could very well take the entire width while standing at a further distance. But it was not his objective for now. He needed to first establish a safe zone for himself. And what better option than such an imposing and renowned location?

After reaching the wall's end on the left, they turned right and continued. After a while, an entrance was seen on the wall's flat end. It did not take as long to fly up to it than it was to make the travel from the middle to the left side's end.

A flight of black stairs was leading up to the wall's inner depths, but the two guards and their sturdy auras were a deterrent. Luckily, they had tokens to identify themselves.

Seeing them approach, one of the guards at the Origin Realm halted them. After being shown a token each, he let them pass freely.

Inside the wall, everything was well furnished and decorated. Some parts were black, but only when it lacked fireplaces, bookshelves, and the likes.

Something came to Alexander's notice however, and it was the residents' cultivation bases. Since entering, no one really came too close to the guards' cultivation.

But it made sense, having guards with a much rarer and higher cultivation base at the entrance would deter many from jumping in. What if every single guard inside was even stronger?

This bluff made Alexander nod in approval. The ones managing this place were not without brains and definitely knew a thing or two about security.

They knew that most people at this level had a certain level of anxiety. No one would want to make such a stupid mistake.

On the other hand, Alexander realized his lack of knowledge about the place, so he quickly backtracked where the two Origin Realm guards stood.

"Excuse me sir, but you see... we actually don't know what to do... We were told to come here, but we don't even know where to go from here..."

Standing on a patch of grass levitating in the void, one of the guards pointed deeper into the wall's insides.

"Keep going deeper and carefully watch out for signs. You'll know what to do from here. The Dark Wall is linear, so it shouldn't be a problem to find your way, no?"

Laughing dryly, Alexander cupped his fists before returning inside.

'Are there Heavens here?' Suddenly pondering on the matter, Alexander knew one way to verify it.

Keeping his voice low, murmuring to the void, he spoke specific words.

"Supreme grade."

"Supreme tier."

"Supreme technique."

"Supreme." Feeling an ominous air around him, Alexander prepared himself for what might come. When ready to halt his words if necessary, he spoke once again.

"I am Sup-p-p... What's up?" Almost biting his tongue, Alexander felt a powerful gaze peer into his secrets, trying to figure out what he truly felt like saying. Luckily, or more so skillfully, Alexander always kept an empty mind and empty heart when speaking these words. Therefore, nothing could be found and the Heavenly Tribulation did not take his life.

'There are still Heavens here...'

It was not without reason that all artifacts had a Supreme grade. It was no coincidence that all realms respected such gradings.

These did not come from some distant ancestor or assembly decision. It came from an era most difficult to understand. The reason Alexander and many others never said certain words in a certain manner was for a very good reason.

Some words were taboo. At least it was speculated as such, since only the word 'Supreme' was known to possess such limitations.

'If you're telling me I'm still inside someone's internal world, I will throw something out of this world directly to their face!'

The path of cultivation was arduous yet also extremely long. But how long?
