48] - [Grand Macrocosm Trial of Ascendency (1)]

A massacre later, all that was left were Dimensional Dominators, Primordial Deities and Overlords. Expecting a battle to ensue, Alexander was surprised when contrary to his expectations, a woman's voice was heard, her roaring words crossing countless galaxies all around.

"Alexander! Do you have something to say for yourself?! You dared to cross the line to experiment on life!" A woman's roar was heard.

Sitting on his throne, surrounded by soldiers below, Alexander stared at the countless cultivators right outside his hall. With the hall's doors opened wide, they could see its gigantic white insides, colored by the light outside, a beautifully somber orange and grey. As if a dim orange star was illuminating the hall, warming the cold and desolate depths.

Before he could speak, he heard a deep, rumbling voice inside his mind.

"The Grand Macrocosm Trial of Ascendency can begin!"

Hiding his faint smile, Alexander stared ahead with his eyes cold, contrasting his casual words.

"You guys... came all the way here... just to die?"

"Hmph! Stop bluffing! We have over forty Ascension Realm Overlords with us, some who have even reached the ninth layer!" The woman was getting angrier by the minute, being ignored and humiliated by his words.

"Is that impressive? Or are you counting on the billions of Primordial Deities and the quintillions of Dimensional Dominators behind you?"

Snorting, Alexander released his [Qi Pressure] at the absolute summit of the Ascension Realm, suppressing all enemies without differencing between cultivation base.

Waving his hand, a one million lightyears wide gust of Star Qi crashed onto the ocean of experts outside. Killing almost everyone, sparring only the Ascension Realm cultivators above the eighth layer.

"Y-You..! You reached the eleventh layer?! How is that possible..." Baffled, not only the woman, but the others too, could simply not believe the sight right in front of their eyes. Quickly, the velvet haired woman turned to look for Yang Zhi, but to no avail, as he was nowhere to be seen.

'This piece of..!' She could only grit her teeth, feeling his betrayal.

"Hmph!" Harrumphing, Alexander did not bother chatting with them. Standing up from his throne, he flew above, piercing his hall's ceiling into pieces.

Standing in the void, Alexander shouted.

"I, Alexander, have decided to challenge my fated opponent! I wish to fight for the opportunity to ascend! Start the Grand Macrocosm Trial of Ascendency!"

Following his words, powerful shockwaves of spatial fluctuations formed, a figure as tall as he was suddenly teleported a few dozen million kilometers from him. Seeing the giant man, Alexander smirked.

"Now that you are here, let's start, shall we!"

The man barely had the time to ease his confusion as he saw Alexander's figure right in front of him, his right fist already closing in on his face.

"Guh!" Dodging the fist by a hair's width, the man had bent his torso to his right, his long red and purple hair dancing in the void. Knowing such an occasion would be rare, the man immediately struck with his left fist toward Alexander's abdomen.

Seeing the purple light of sealing around his opponent's fist, Alexander snorted angrily.

"Petty tricks!"

Slapping the man's head with his already extended right arm, the man was sent flying, his mind hazy.

"Don't even bother with that!"

Ignoring the shocked Overlords, Alexander was not planning on losing his small advantage, unwilling to let his opponent recover.

"Take this!" Sending a powerful [Star Palm], the man was unable to dodge once again, soon struck by the palm strike, causing his torso to explode in a bloody mist.

Gritting his teeth, the man raised his hand in front.

"Sir! Let's pause for a moment! I don't quite understand what is happening."

Knowing his advantage was as good as lost, Alexander introduced himself.

"I am Alexander, and just like you, am a chosen one of this Universe. We both have to fight to the end, for the right to ascend!"

"I see, well, sir Alexander, you can call me Ark!"

Ignoring the man's words, Alexander kicked the void, his figure blurry.

Appearing to Ark's left, he tried to stab his already recovered torso with his bare hand.

His purple eyes glowing, Ark opened his mouth to his left, in Alexander's direction.

'!!'

Feeling the fluctuations of Star Qi, Alexander quickly tried to evade, but was a step too late.

"Huff..." Exhaling, Alexander who was now behind Ark felt the left side of his face missing.

Unwilling to miss this chance, which had costed him half of his head, Alexander's right arm thrusted forward with power, his palm strike immediately blocked by Ark's reactive twisting maneuver, using his left elbow to rapidly defend from it.

The continuous clash of peak Overlords caused the surrounding galaxies to suffer from waves of wild Star Qi.

This time, Ark managed to take the initiative, extending his left arm, his left elbow already blocking Alexander's palm. Once extended, his hand started to lit up with red shades of colors, before a blast of Star Qi exploded toward Alexander's stomach.

"Hmph!" Snorting, Alexander simply dodged to his right by pivoting his body counter clockwise. Using his newfound momentum, Alexander did not stop his movement, until his body faced the opposite way, raising his left leg in the process, reverse kicking at Ark's exposed shoulder.

Raising his right shoulder and right arm, tightly positioned, Ark managed to stop the lightning fast kick, albeit with some difficulty, his right side almost severely damaged by the shockwave of unrestrained Star Qi.

But his problem had only just started, since his back was still somewhat facing Alexander, exposing his vessel to a sudden attack, as Alexander opened his mouth wide, veins around his throat bulging as the expected roar did not happen.

Instead, a blinding white light erupted from him, as if sound had become light. Soon, Ark realized that silence had permeated the void, not even his thoughts heard in his own mind, everything was silent, and all that could be seen was white light.

Both the silence and Ark's confusion were broken by the loud explosions of nearing worlds, as Ark found his entire body sore while a radius of five galaxies around Alexander's silent roar were decimated.

'What kind of martial art is this? Its effect reached far and wide while also retaining around five Peak-Star power!'

Ark was shocked by the area of effect a simple, easy to use martial art such as this possessed, only his immortal body barely enduring the strike.

It was a powerful martial art Alexander had known for a long time, effective as far as five galaxies, blasting everything in this radius equally with half of the user's full strength. It was his [Silent World].

Not giving Ark the time to turn around, Alexander gathered his understanding of many Daos at his fingertips, crashing his palm on Ark's back, his five spheres of Daos crushed from the impact, detonating in a blinding white light.

Coughing blood, both Ark and Alexander's bodies were already regenerated, barely needing moments to recover from Heaven covering means.

"This friend is quite the handful I must say! Why go so far-"

Unable to finish his sentence, he soon found Alexander's fist deep inside his skull, the cracking of shattered bones heard from miles away.

Now furious, Ark decided to take the fight seriously.

Blurring, Ark immediately struck a fist at Alexander's back, appearing out of nowhere.

Sensing the increase in speed, Alexander did the same, going faster than before, dodging Ark's next blow by a small margin.

Apart from each other once again, Ark kept his mouth shut, glaring at his opponent, his respectful outlook vanished.

Their figures blurring, they both reappeared midway, Alexander's left leg swiping up toward Ark's right armpit, while Ark's left hand was clawing at Alexander's head.

'!!' Both sustaining somewhat heavy damage, Ark's right shoulder sizzled, his severed arm growing back while Alexander's head did the same, growing back from his neck.

'This is going to be a long fight... we still are true immortals, as for our lives... I'm not sure if we have any limitations either... I don't understand what we are supposed to do... him regenerating once already screwed my earlier advantage.'

Frowning, Ark had the same thoughts, but it did not stop him from launching at Alexander, his hands glowing a deep red and orange.

"[True Sun Desolate Claw]!" Shouting, Ark managed to close in on Alexander, who this time, did not seem disturbed, casually sending a [Star Palm] at his opponent.

Star Qi fluctuating everywhere, the temperature could be felt increasing at record speed. But such heat did not seem to bother either, as they stared at each other, Alexander's relaxed expression as his melting body had already recovered inspired doom inside Ark. As he did not know why Alexander barely defended.

A question Alexander answered on the spot.

"Don't think too much, the trial is probably something else, I'm trying to figure it out..."

Grasping this opportunity, Ark did not take Alexander's words into consideration, kicking the void with malice, striking Alexander over and over again.

The fabric of space crackling, Ark's powerful blows made the void shiver, but Alexander clearly did not, uncaring as his bone broke, his flesh tore, his skin cracked and his soul fluttered.

Blood spilling, drifting into the void, Alexander's eyes brightened.

'Oh~! Maybe it's that!'

His body and soul regenerated, he struck the void with half of his strength, making the void shiver once more. But this time, it showed signs of breaking apart.

'How did I not notice this when beating up that burnt head?' Smiling, Alexander's feet started to multiply, his every step divine, swiftly reaching Ark's unsuspecting body.

Coughing litters of blood, Ark's wide eyes stared vividly as Alexander's palm struck his chest, shockwaves like the tide, creating a huge hole in it.

'Of course it's gonna be fast when you don't go all out, my [27 Heavenly Steps], while weak, are still boosted by my cultivation base!'

Overlords did not possess many martial arts and secret techniques meant for them, as more often than not, the Primordial-Tier was the highest.

However, for those simply boosting one's power, speed and more, it was a very suitable way of using martial arts, making use of even the weakest of techniques to create disastrous monstrosities. As most high tier martial arts focused on a specific, already predetermined increase in something.

Using movement techniques that directly increased basic speed without much limitations was the most useful to Overlords. Not martial arts meant for simply attaining a specific speed, as it would become useless later down the road.
