Exhaling a mouthful of hot air, Elder Rong fell on his butt.
"Let's hope that my words will be able to preserve his Dao. A defeat like this has a chance of breaking it after all."
After a few minutes, Elder Rong managed to recover his senses. Because of his past trauma, the man could not use his strength recklessly. Not because of a physical injury, but a mental one instead. Just now, a simple palm strike adorning his own Dao of Supremacy took a toll on him.
"Ha~"
"Let's not disturb the peace of the disciples." Dusting himself, Elder Rong looked in direction of Alexander. There laid only a cocoon of silver threads.
'How long has it been? Back then, didn't you go berserk too?' Flashes of time shimmering across his eyes, Elder Rong began to levitate with the cocoon before a spatial rift formed near him.
And in a heartbeat, both Alexander and him disappeared from sight.
Left behind were not only the new disciples and the envoy, but the entire Lured Cloud Sect. A commotion this big was not easy to miss.
.
.
.
After an unknown amount of time, the silver cocoon cracked open. The silver threads snapped while a silver light blossomed from within. It felt like the birth of an immortal fruit of countless opportunities. Yet, if anyone below the Law Immortal Realm stood there, they would only be able to grovel on the ground like bugs from its innate oppression.
After slowly opening up, the cocoon revealed a tall young man of long silver hair, his eyes closed and at peace. Some might dare claim it to be the corpse of a long forgotten king even.
"Are you up yet?" A rough old voice resonating, Alexander gently opened his eyes. All that he could see was a dark ceiling similar to ones from a gothic castle.
"I am." His torso the first to move, it appeared like a vampire suddenly waking up.
"You can call me Elder Rong. I will be your master in the Lured Cloud Sect. No, more like your mentor. You can call me whatever, but remember yourself first."
"..."
"I understand. Alexander greets Elder Rong!" A strange sense of lucidity overflowed from his heart. Alexander could see his body to be glowing a radiant silver light. Like a glowing membrane.
"What happened?" This question weighted on his mind since the first signs of his berserk state.
"Nothing much. As a man worthy of the Dao of Supremacy, you failed to control it properly, reeling in the feelings of domination. There is nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but, when your own Dao surpasses you, what right do you have to live on its path?"
"Cultivating the Dao of Supremacy means that you must be worthy of it at all times. What happened back then was only a berserk state induced by your lacking ability."
"I am here to teach you how to control it. I am here to let your talent and potential blossom across the Realms and past the Heavens."
"..." It was quite a bit of information for Alexander. He suddenly became filled with the desire to conquer everything and nothing. He could not even control his own impulses of domination. And now, an old man from the sect world took him in as a disciple of sorts.
It was too strange. Too fast.
"Let me rearrange my thoughts first."
"Of course! Go ahead, I will be just over there." Leaving him to his own devices, Elder Rong walked next to the wall far ahead. The ceiling was quite low and, on Alexander's right, a large number of pillars supported said ceiling from the open view without a wall to impede it.
After looking around a bit, much to the elder's curiosity, he noticed himself to be inside a black coffin atop a small pedestal.
'Strange... is he some kind of vampire or what?' Even though vampires existed, sleeping in coffins was not exactly the perfect truth. However, a legend or myth still retained a part of truth.
Vampires did like coffins and dark places, they also loved bats. But this did not mean all of them to be fond of them. Some said it was more about tradition from old times than an enjoyment.
"Are you a vampire by any chance?" Still asking the question even though it held no real purpose, Alexander received a rather unexpected answer.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
"No, I'm human. I was just fascinated so much by them as a young child that it stuck with me. As you can see, this coffin is quite large and very comfortable. I'm too old to sleep in a real coffin or casket." Seeing the old man wave his hand around dismissingly, Alexander was left with no choice but take his word for it.
"So, tell me. Why am I here again? My mind is still a bit hazy from your strike." Even after remembering it, Alexander felt no urge to rectify his loss. This old man was a strong cultivator far above his current means. However, since he showed no malicious intent, there was no point in fighting it out just yet.
"I am just like you. I also cultivate the Dao of Supremacy. And so did my last disciple. Unfortunately, he died. And all I can say is that his death was a result of my actions. As a teacher, I made a terrible mistake... this gave me Heart Demon that I could never get rid off. You can ask anyone in the sect or even outside, if they know me, they will tell you the same story. Causing the death of the best disciple of the sect in the last trillion years is not a small and cheap mistake after all."
"Back then, Zu Vargan was less than five hundred billion years old when he achieved the Calamity Enduring Realm... But, like I said, one of my mistakes caused his downfall."
"If you wonder why I'm helping you so much, just don't waste your time or emotions overthinking it. Just think of me trying to get rid of my Heart Demon through you. Just enjoy the ride and get strong while I regain freedom."
'Heart Demon! This guy actually has a damn Heart Demon!' Still calm outside, Alexander was somewhat shocked by the news. A Heart Demon was a common occurrence, however its influence was extremely dangerous.
A Heart Demon held countless meanings and possibilities. Or more so the opposite.
One could end up stuck in their cultivation, a bottleneck formed from it, never to be broken through in their entire life. One could also die, suffer, turn crazy and so many other things. Let alone the amount of mixtures that could be created from it.
Someone with a Heart Demon was not only a variable for themselves, but others as well. Who knew what kind of crazy thing they would do in the spur of the moment?
"No need to be so wary of me. This old man hasn't gone crazy just yet! I am still healthy and strong!" Laughing aloud, the old man flexed his arm with a big smile.
"..." Pursing his lips, Alexander simply shook his head before getting out of the coffin. His feet landing on the tiled floor, he saw no restrictions imposed on him. At least for now.
"Then, teacher, is there something I should know now? Maybe a mission?" Startled by his questions, Elder Rong smiled kindly.
"There will be no such things as of now. I will... hum, just come with me actually. Let me show you around and tell you about our Dao."
Raising a brow at the declaration, Alexander's interest was picked. His Dao was elusive and held the same place if not a higher one than the strongest Daos he knew of. Even the Daos of Time and Space could not really rival it. In front of Supremacy, even time froze and space collapsed. Reality itself would be at its mercy, begging for forgiveness.
Therefore, he did not hesitate to follow Edler Rong past a door, deeper into this place. What laid ahead was a narrow, dark corridor of sparse torches and countless chiseled marks amidst cobblestones.
"The Dao of Supremacy is one of the most powerful Daos in existence, if not outright the strongest. As you may already tell, even the Dao of Time, Dao of Space, Dao of All, Dao of Nothing, Dao of Greatness, Dao of Victory, Dao of Dao, yes I know, Dao of Light, Dao of Darkness, Dao of Chaos, Dao of Reality, Dao of Dimensions, Dao of Origins, Dao of Primordiality, Dao of Essence, Dao of Truth, Dao of Might, Dao of Creation, Dao of Destruction, Dao of Life, Dao of Death, Dao of Infinity, Dao of this and that, whichever... As you may know by now, the Dao of Supremacy is above all of these."
As he was trying to remember them, Elder Rong kept counting on his fingers, lost in thoughts, his voice never ending.
"Comprehending our Dao is not much about talent or opportunity more than it is dedication and dreams. A king may one day witness its mysteries while a poor bloke on the roadside has less chances of doing the same. Same goes for an emperor and an artist, but for different reasons. As a cultivator, you are bound to follow the Heavens and follow their light. The Heavens are nourishing the cultivators beneath them, making sure to help them as much as possible without endangering their foundations."
"But!" Raising his index finger high, Elder Rong halted his steps for but a moment.
"The Dao of Supremacy is above all, below none. The Heavens are fine with us cultivating it, comprehending it, teaching it. However! There will be a day where we might have the opportunity to ascend. To surpass the true Heavens... it is the same as challenging the so called Creator's authority. Nobody knows if such a being exist, or if there are multiple of them. At least some don't."
"Are you saying you know something about it?" Very interested in the speech until now, Alexander could not reign on his adamant thirst for knowledge. Even his heart skipped a beat when such a piece of information was about to be gifted.
"I might..."
"The Creator or Creators... I can't say for sure. I am not strong like the saints or peerless like the sages beyond. But I am not ignorant! I have resources, I have intelligence befitting my current life. I also have some other stuff that I am about to show you..."
"The records I have recovered, somewhat translated and interpreted. Some of them harbor information about their elusive and mythical appearances."
Stopping in front of a door, the dimly lit corridor came to an end. Pushing the frail wooden door open, Elder Rong entered a giant library, followed by Alexander himself.
"Giants of white! Divine Creators of pure might! Beings of overwhelming everything and underwhelming nothing! Bringers of Doom, Origins of Chaos and Order! The servants of the Great Dao!"
"This is the best I could find for now."
"But I still pray for a day where either of us can see them."
The gentle Elder Rong's aura shifting, a giant pillar of silver light reached the ceiling while chants of time immemorial sang across the library. The bookshelves shivered and the dreams of all, like clouds, drifted around them. Even Alexander's own Dao felt the massive oppression, not only in raw might, but in pure mentality as well.
The world turned silent, not daring to make a single noise, while space warped alongside the shift of colors.
Like shockwaves, colors were pushed back, merging with others, causing the air around Elder Rong to look fictional. A ring of shockwave was green while another was blue. At the center of it, Elder Rong appeared in black and white, discolored from the rest. From his body, a silver light exploded outward, causing the chants and silenced world to tremble.
"I pray for a day where either of us can crush them beneath our feet!"
