9: Actions have Consequences

9: Actions have Consequences

Everything is hazy when I come to. My jaw feels stiff, like I can’t open it. I can move everything else and I feel fine so as I open my eyes, I’m in a small room with something on my mouth. I can’t open my mouth because I have a muzzle. Why would they need muzzles in this world? Either way, now that I’m awake, I can tell I’m in the pokecenter again as there is all sorts of medical equipment. There is a door with a small window and a camera in the left corner of the room. Seeing as I can’t do anything, I practise what the double team clone. It needs a better name. Puppeteer, that’s sounds good. I managed to get the head to move in different ways but nothing else. While working, I thought of what else I could do to learn more moves. An idea sprung up as when I use Iron tail, its like coating my tail in energy. Could I coat other parts of my body with it to get different moves like iron claw?

The door slides open as a man suddenly walked in with a persian and alakazam following him before the door shut behind them. The pokemon looked average but the man was wearing a police uniform and had a badge along with a tablet and a folder.

“Hello, my name is David, and these are my partners.” David announced.

“We are here in response to the fight in which you fought within the pokecenter.” The persian said in english so this might be the same meowth from the show, just evolved. Oliver did say it was captured. “We will know if you’re lying as Alakazam will inform of us if any lies are told. So make this easy and we can move along.”

David started the questioning about what had happened before moving on to the question relating to if I was wild and such. I took about an hour before we finished. Lucky they didn’t ask for the answer to some more unique questions.

“Thank you Shade. I know you’re innocent as the guy who attacked you has been known to start trouble but nothing on the logistics scale as this. Its bad enough to fight in the open and in buildings unless they have arenas and such but a pokecenter.”

Can I get this removed? I ask pointing to the muzzle and the meowth translates.

“Sorry no, because your wild, I would be in serious trouble if I did but apparently, you took an absolute beating to finally snap and fight back so I wouldn’t be worried about you turning on me. I could see about the pair you came with to catch you but apparently you dislike the idea so yeah. I’ll see what I can do though.”

With that, the trio left leaving me alone in the room, so I went back to my practising.

I spent about three hours in there before the twins finally were allowed in and Jen immediately runs up to me and hugs me.

“I’m sorry, Shade, we should have stayed with you, I’m sorry.” The poor girls says, in almost tears.

“We really should have had at least either dragged you with us or one of us stay with you.” Oliver says sincerely. “I would remove the restraint on you as well, but they told us not to for our own safety.”

Its okay. I say while embracing the hug.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

“I guess I should tell you the bad news though.” Oliver says clearly upset about it. “They gave us two options. We either separate and they take you to a reserve or the wild, basically far away out into the wild. Or option two is we catch you.”

“We know you don’t want to be caught but unless necessary, we won’t put you in the ball. We don’t want you to go.” Jen says breaking the hug and reaching into her pocket. She grabs a dusk ball and expands it and holds it in an open hand.

Thoughts were racing through my mind about the benefits and draw backs. The only real fault of staying would be the pokeball and maybe the occasional fight but that wasn’t the problem, it was fear.

I don’t know why, but my mind just refused to work properly while the two twins waited for my response. They had been kind to me so far, the only annoying thing was the hugging but that wasn’t all that bad. They had essentially let me follow them around after I first found them and beat up their pokemon.

Why was I even concerned about being caught by them? As I just found out, it could be so much worse. I reckon I have just about as good of trainers as I could get.

I needed to decide, they clearly liked me, and I liked them so despite the fear, I pressed the button on the dusk ball. A red light shot out and covered me and as it worked, it kind of felt like a tingling sensation across my whole body before my vision blanked out for a second.

Inside the ball, it was kind of like a void where you just floated, you could even see outside of it into the surrounding. It felt so weird though and was quite uncomfortable. I was able to move around but it felt like I was swimming. I was only in there for a couple seconds before I was back out and the twins both hugged me.

“Thank you Shade!” Jen said hugging me. “Thank you for staying with us.” She added crying with tears of joy.

We returned to the Pokecenter only for me to discover I have been out for a day despite having been fully healed ages ago. The twins rented the room for another day so that tomorrow they could fight the gym leader and collect their first badge. I wouldn’t be used as I was far stronger than Jen’s other pokemon so I would simply watch to see how a gym battle would go. We were currently at a park where the twin’s four other pokemon, myself, and the two trainers were playing tag.

Every so often, kids would come over and join us for several minutes while various other people who seemed interested in me, would come over to look and pat me before heading off. It was nice but I might blackout my rings in future, no that might look more suspicious. I guess if Jen and Ollie claimed that I just liked doing it, that would work if it wasn’t for the scar and eye colour. Maybe if it was just the scar it wouldn’t be to bad as it is a fairly dark shade of grey but it still stood out on my black fur. I CAN’T WIN! I’m suddenly spinning before landing on my back and turn my head to see Aron running off at a surprising pace.

The sun was starting to go down, so we headed back to our room and as they promised, no ball, but I did get a lot of attention walking through the streets. On our way back, David found us and told us how the investigation went. Turns out, the pokemon he used to attack me weren’t his but rather his older brothers, so he got an earful there, but he also took them without his permission, so he essentially stole them. When he was attacking me in the room, it sent the centre into a panic and evacuation mode which caused so many issues. Then there was the trashed room which by the time I got back was completely fixed but it still cost time and money so another mark against him.

In the end, he got jail time despite his father trying to dispute it. That was quickly thrown out of what ever legal system they have as apparently, its hard to lie to a trained psychic type. Who would have known? Not me apparently as I did not even think of it.

We got back to our room and they let the rest of the pokemon out so we could all eat and such before we cleaned up and went to bed. Of course, after I was clean and dry, Jen grabbed me, and I was a teddy bear again but it wasn’t as bad this time around. Still wasn’t fun though when she fell asleep holding me, so I was stuck here till tomorrow. The other pokemon also found it so funny that I’m just a teddy but when I said why don’t they join me, everyone but Fen found that fun. Such is the life I was given and chose.
