32: Next Stop

I have legs you know! I yell at Jennifer which she just seems to ignore. I know you can hear me!

Jennifer wasn’t joking when she said she wasn’t letting me go again. As we travelled around the city to get food and such for the trip to the next town, she had been holding me the whole time and refusing to put me down. I mean yeah, both towns that I have been in alone has resulted in something bad happening to me. But this is ridiculous!

I didn’t even bother trying to escape myself because that never works anyway. We were currently in a pokemart, which are honestly impressive stores. They had just about anything you would need for long distance travel from food and pokemon items to clothes and camping equipment. And if they didn’t have something, there was a holder for brochures and a corkboard with posters and such directing you to where you could find more specialised stores. Why? I don’t know but hey, it definitely makes people come in.

They even had isles for regular food items that you would buy at a shop. To be fair though, the size of the building is just absurd. There were shopping centres I have been to in my old life smaller than this supermarket. And like the pokecenter, this one was had south in its name so I can only assume there is three more of these. Although I have no idea why you would ever need more than one of these buildings for a city. Although I guess it is a large city, but there has to be other stores that provide what this shop does as well.

I don’t know where Oliver is in this place but Jennifer was looking through a bunch of coloured cases, each one having one of the pokemon types indented into the lid with some having two typings. After a few minutes, she grabbed a dark, a flying and physic, and a fire and physic. I guess one for me, Hoot and Fen. She placed all three in a basket which held several items. One of which was a shirt with all the outlines of eeveelutions on it. With two extras.

The first new one was an eeveelution with what were obviously a pair of bird like wings coming from its back. Its overall body shape was similar to all of the evolution pokemon’s other forms. Its tail was wider than the others with two swirls on it and each leg had a swirl at the top of them. This swirl also appeared on its ears and along its side. It has a had a crest of feathers on its forehead. Its feat each had a spike at the back of the heal, each having spirals on them.

The second was a rather plain outline. Its tail was seemingly entirely fur and had a large amount of fur around its neck that trailed down its front. Located at the base of the ears was a ring of fur. My best guess would be that is just a larger eevee. Probably a normal type. Makes me wonder why an eevee would evolve into the same typing.

I wanted to ask about the two of them, but I wasn’t sure. Should I as a pokemon recognise and know most others? I know most of the off by heart but that’s because of my old life. And I reckon as an eevee evolution, I would probably recognise another, right?

You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.

I wasn’t ready to tell the two of them I am not from this world but how would they react? What would they do? What would happen to me!? Where would I go if they got rid of me!? How would I cope!? Who would do w…

“You okay Shade?” I hear Jennifer ask breaking me from that train of thought. I look up at her and I see she is looking concerned. “I could feel you tense up just now.”

Yeah, I’m good. I say to her.

“Are you sure?” She asks to which I nod although I doubt she is convinced. “Well, I have everything I need. I think. Let’s find Ollie.” She responds picking up her stride.

Can you please put me down now? I ask Jennifer. We left the city an hour ago!

She didn’t say anything, but she did finally put me down. It felt good to stretch my legs as I moved a bit ahead of the two, but I would rather somewhere flatter. This route stretches through some rather hilly forest and a lot of the undergrowth like bushes and tall grass was missing and in their place was dozens of small dirt paths going up and down small hills as they wind through the trees. There was plenty of pokemon about still, but they seemed far more use to humans than ones previously. I guess this area is heavily used. But for what I’m not sure as the southern route was nothing like this.

Off in the distance I could hear cheering from I guess maybe around 10 people and some pokemon. It wasn’t to long till we found out why. There was a large park split into a very large dirt track which would probably used for motorbikes, if those exist, and a decent sized properly, made skate park with a few small buildings and a large shelter beside it. I could understand, if motorbikes did exist, having a track an hour and a half walk away from a city. But a skate park?

Standing off to the side while several people on roller skates traversed the park, was from my count, 30 people with 10 small pokemon with various people. People also suddenly dashed out from the tree line on roller skates and bikes, one of which was followed by a serviper as they rode their bike before turning and heading back in.

“It’s pretty cool isn’t it Shade.” Oliver said, noticing my fixation on it as we were passing bye. “It’s a famous area for those among the sports and they even hold large tournaments here each year.”

“Unfortunately, we don’t have our skates so we can’t join in but we have to come to Lumiose for the gym when it reopens so maybe we can come back.” Jennifer added.

It would have been fun to stick around but I guess we do have to be elsewhere and yeah, if we don’t have anything to join in with, we would just be watching. Although that would still be pretty cool. Its also interesting Jen said ‘our skates’ so they must have used them at some point. I could hear something moving between the trees on the otherside of the road and turn my head to see a figure coming out quickly. I dash back as a person on roller skates darts out and flies past where I was standing followed swiftly by an absol. He slides to a swift stop as the absol lands behind him.

“Sorry about that.” He says before taking off towards the skate park as the crowd cheers when a second person with a crobat darts out of the forest further ahead of us and speeds towards the finish line.

We are definitely coming back here. I say looking back at the twins.

“Yeah, I guess we will be.” Jennifer confirms as we continue on our way. I see that the guy who almost hit me is doing a celebratory lap while the crowd and other skaters and bikes cheer him on.
