The sun rose over the city roofs into our room, causing Jennifer to stir while her brother was out cold. Sune and Lumi also slowly woke. Jennifer reached for her phone and went to turn it on, and her reaction showed that she saw it was flat.
“I always forget to charge this thing.” She complained as she rose from her bed and stretched and looked over to me and it took her a bit to realise I was there. “Why are you in the corner?”
Because I can be. I retorted causing her to just go about her morning routine. Sune and Lumi both decided to join me on my pillow. More specifically by sitting atop me.

It was about midday and we were shopping for the last supplies we would need. Oliver was still half asleep and both vulpixes were sitting on my back. The pokemart here was quite a bit smaller than the sprawling one in Lumiose city but I guess that makes sense. We started back to counter with what we needed and were out a few minutes later. Once we were out of the store, Oliver grabbed his phone and looked at it for a bit.
“So we need to head out of west entrance which is over that way.” He says gesturing to I am assuming the west. With our direction set, we started to make out way towards the exit before something felt wrong. I could feel both vulpixes shivering a bit as well so I wasn’t the only one. We were on a fairly empty street which allowed to just stop and both trainers noticed I had after a few seconds.
“Shade?” Oliver asked confused.
As I looked around, I noticed a few other pokemon similarly acting like something was wrong. As the feeling persisted, I felt the wrongness coming from my right and into the sky and I turned to look that way but there was buildings in the way.
Sune, Lumi, hop off and go to the twins. I order and the two swiftly follow.
“Shade, what is going on?” Jennifer asked getting precedingly worried but I don’t respond.
Without the vulpixes, I spot several ledges on the buildings and start to leap up them. Three leaps later, I stood atop the row of buildings and looked into the direction where I feel something wrong coming from. As I look south, I can see several other smaller and more agile pokemon on roofs while various flying pokemon where either fleeing or waiting. Nothing happened for a few minutes, but I eventually noticed a shimmer in the sky. It wasn’t like the latias did, rather like a mirror or video footage. With the whole town so quiet, I also started to hear a buzzing and sounds of machinery. I eventually noticed several more shimmers in the sky as well. The sense of wrongness suddenly flared into danger as I activate Dark Pulse. The sky distorted in several areas before they revealed about 3 dozen or so large flying machines and dozens of people riding flying pokemon. The people I could see wore various red clothing and some even had the letter M on either their pokemon or themselves. Even the airships also had the letter M painted on the hulls.
From the top of the ships, fire balls were launched straight up and I fired Dark Pulse towards the nearest one. I wasn’t the only one to fire of a shot as dozens of various beams flew towards the rising balls, but none of them collided before the attacks exploded, and Draco Meteor fell upon the city. The various people on flying pokemon descended into the city as dozens of attacks were launched upwards. The attacks that missed the riders often flew towards the large ships but hexagonal energy shields popped up around the aircraft, causing all the strikes to be destroyed before making contact.

I charged another Dark Pulse as a person riding a pidgeot flew towards me and let it loose. He managed to dodge it as I activated three Shadow Balls and let those go towards the oncoming enemies. I saw the surprise in both his and his pokemons eyes and they didn’t react in time. All three shots hit, knocking them out of the sky and causing them to crash into a nearby roof.
“Shade, what is going on!” I hear Jennifer panicky yell as she couldn’t see anything.
The city is being attacked! I yell back as I let loose a barrage of Swift towards the nearest ship.
“We need to leave!” Jennifer yells from her position on the ground as explosions sound all around from Draco Meteor. “Now Shade!”
We cant just leave these people! I yell back as I charge Zap Cannon while the last of my Swift is stopped by the shields on the ships. I know its dangerous but what is going to stop them from being outside the city walls! I add as I launch the electric attack towards the same ship. The electric type attack strike the hexagonal shield but the particular face it hit seemed to flash. I fire multiple Shadow Balls towards the ship once Zap Cannon collided and they seem to simply collide with the shields with the defences doing anything else.
“Come on Shade!” Oliver yells. “We need to leave!”
Another barrage of Draco Meteor is launched from the top of the ships as the guy I shot down looks me down as he releases a golbat. The bat is suddenly struck by a pidgeotto out of nowhere while Draco Meteor explodes, sending several large flaming rocks towards me.
RUN! I scream as I activate Swift to the absolute maximum I could. I felt the drain as I fired the at least 100 shots towards the strikes. A pain rises from my left side as I move sideways and I leave the roof. I spin through the air to see a mightyena with a mouth of fire standing where I was. It swiftly uses Flamethrower and I hastily fire and unbalanced Dark Pulse into the flames. My attack sweeps through the flames as I spin before all I see is orange flames surround me and cause pain everywhere as I close my eyes. Several loud explosions sound out as I come to a sudden stop with my right side leg colliding with something while the flames end. I try to stand but my front right leg is extremely sore. I open my eyes and look to see I collided with a street light. I glance to where I was to see the roof has a large scar across it and on some of the wall while the mightyena is charging towards me, its teeth bared and coated in light blue light, and I can see one of the attacking humans in the distance coming towards us.
I manage to stand on three feet and activate Extreme Speed, using it to dash out of the way as the mightyena’s jaws before it manages to bite me. It bites down on the street light that I hit, causing ice to form around the bite mark. The mightyena is suddenly light up by an orange light before one of the strikes from Draco Meteor collides with it and exploding. Dust and smoke covers the area and I am hit with the shockwave which causes me to brace and place my injured leg down, causing immense pain. I cant see in the smoke but I pick a direction and limp that way. The sounds of chaos all around.
I leave the smoke and look directly up to see one of the ships sitting there and a door slide open on the side as it lowers itself while several strikes collide with the shields. I fire Zap Cannon straight up and it must have not seen the ball of electrify as it flies straight up while I swiftly charge a second one and hits the shields, causing various shields to flash. One shield while flashing got struck by a white beam and cause it to shatter while the attack went through and collided with one of the engines on the ship, destroying it. It swiftly loses balance and control with only one operable engine while it starts moving out of sight.
As that ship vanishes, a beam of light flashes across the sky and a massive explosion sounds out.
My danger sense flares up as I twist my head around with a charged Zap Cannon and see a golbat rushing me with its gaping maw and its teeth coated in green energy. I fire the shot and the bat is to close to dodge. The ball explodes and due to my proximity, I am slightly hit, but I know that bat is out for the count. I manage to get going and limp onward with I an injured leg.
A sudden, overwhelming dread hits me, as a voice sounds out.
I, am, hungry.
