We didn’t stop moving away from the garden until we realised, we had reached the base of the hill the mansion is located on. We found a bench and sat down on it. I let the two vulpixes down who had seemed to somewhat come back to reality.
“What was that?” Jennifer first asked. “The Queen of the Garden showed herself.” She said in disbelief. “And she looked straight at us!” She blurted out in disbelief. I don’t know the significance of that pokemon showing itself. All I know is that if I wanted to, it could probably wipe out this entire town. I mean, I imagine there are a lot of pokemon with those capabilities but, I don’t even know where to begin with thinking about what she was capable at that point. And did she say she was 14 hundred years old! What the hell!?
“What even triggered her appearance?” Oliver quietly asked himself. “We cant be that special for her to sho..” He looks over to me. Jennifer looks over to me also, seemingly understanding her brothers train of thought.
What? I ask under the gaze of the two trainers. I didn’t do anything.
“I have doubts about you doing nothing.” Jennifer says plainly. “I mean, why else would such a powerful pokemon make a sudden appearance looking our way.”
I did nothing. I state again at the accusation. I’m pretty sure we would be dead if I did any damage to that garden, and she felt angered at that.
“That’s not what I meant.”
Oliver looked on confused, not understanding my half of the conversation whatsoever.
Lets just not go back there. Lumi added with Sune clearly agreeing with that sentiment. I guess it makes sense for them to have frozen up at the appearance of such a powerful pokemon. As far as I can tell, they would only be like level 4 or 5 each so I am the very least 50 levels higher as umbreon learns last resort at 55. A sudden flash draws my attention and glare at the direction it came from. I saw a young kid with a camera and once I made eye contact, he booked it into the crowd. I am starting to dislike all these photos.
Well what are we going to do? I ask Jennifer. Cause count me out of going back to that garden. I add remembering the part about her wanting me to meet her again. Although, should I ignore a request from something as powerful as the queen of the garden? And actually, how strong were the latias and latios I’ve already met? They never gave of a presence so, who knows? I doubt I’ll ever get an answer.
Jennifer suddenly turns around and looks at the large building sitting atop the hill behind us. “I guess the mansion wouldn’t be a bad idea to visit seeing as we are here. And we are also not going back to garden.”
Oliver visibly relaxes at that last comment, along with the two vulpixes at my side.
We got up and started head right to look for the path to the main tourist attraction of the city.

Why didn’t we just go left instead? We basically just walked around the entire god damn hill!
Our decision to move clockwise around the large forest covered hill to find the entrance added and additional 45 minutes to like a 10-minute trip from our original position! But we eventually found the entrance and walked to the top. Once we reached to top, it was quite the view. The entire city was all around us and we could see into the forest beyond. I unfortunately could see the queens garden from here and I just gave me that same sense of calming and foreboding even from here.
The mansion was quite nice and clearly well maintained. It looked more like a castle than anything else to be completely honest. It was primarily white, with the roofs being green. And I thought it looked large from down on the ground by the sheer size of the building was astonishing. The front courtyard was just massive by itself. And, there was a large group of people surrounding a pokemon battle between a noctowl and a liepard. We headed over to the crowd to watch for a while despite the battle being near its end for at least this round, with the owl being in clearly better shape.

The noctolws eyes changed to a pure light blue as it activated Physic, which wouldn’t do anything, as physic typing has no effect on dark types. Although to my surprise, the liepard was coated in a faint blue outline as it was launched upwards. The noctowl however was clearly struggling to achieve this. The liepard came crashing back down, before struggling and failing to stand, before falling unconscious. I mean, the damage from the fall is what knocked it out, but, how did the move work? I was pretty sure physic typing had no effect on dark. Am I just miss remembering? Was it the other way around?
“You coming Shade?” I hear Jennifer call, breaking me from my train of though and allowing me to notice she and Oliver had already started leaving, so I quickly follow them, with Sune and Lumi following suit. As I walk away, I heard the click of camera.
We ventured over to the entrance of the mansion but the large wooden doors were locked. There was a notice on the door with an explanation. It basically said there was a private event inside in the most stuck-up tone possible.
“Well there goes that idea.” Oliver says as we walk away.
“We hadn’t been there in years so I was kind of hoping we could go inside.” Jennifer adds with a disappointed tone.
“Yeah, would have been nice.”
I just looked back and I noticed one of the windows were open. It wouldn’t be hard for me to reach it. No, I better not. We started the journey back down the hill and the forested parts of the hill had a few weak pokemon going around. The trip down the hill was quiet with a few groups of people passing by, some of which were wearing very expensive clothing. I was worried one of them would try buy me. Which is an absolutely absurd thought.
I hope.
With nothing else to do for a while until we needed to get back to pokecenter, we just wondered the streets, doing nothing in particular. Although after a while, Sune and Lumi both were on edge, so I spoke up.
Sune and Lumi both are uncomfortable, I say we head back to the room.
“Sure.” Jennifer happily says as she seemingly makes a random left turn down a street. Oliver had no idea where we were heading but he just followed. Twenty minutes and 7 turns later we were outside the centre.
“How on earth did you just walk here?” Oliver asked his sister as he entered the building.
“Well I always was good with directions.” She smugly says. The lobby was empty with even the nurse currently not present. Both vulpixes were very relieved to be away from people and to be honest, so was I. We waited for a few minutes before Topaz arrived with four pokeballs.
“Hello again. Here are you pokemon.” She cheerly says as she hands back the twins other pokemon. “Do you require anything else?” She asks with a smile, although it looked a little forced. Actually, she looked fairly tired overall. I hope she hasn’t overworked herself.
“No thank you.” Oliver replies as he heads for the rooms, followed by the rest of us. I look back to see her smile faulter as she turned away to go into the medical rooms. Poor woman, being overworked sucks. Finally, once inside our room, I just felt all the stress in body increase manifold as I started falling sideways. I landed on my right side with what felt like extreme exhaustion.
“Shade?” Jennifer worriedly asked me. “You alright?”
Yeah, I think so. I respond from my position. Just, give a bit and I’ll be right.
“If you say so.” She worriedly responds. Both vulpixes come up to me and lay next to me while Jennifer sits on her bed with a book while Oliver is on his bed on his phone. I decide to rest my eyes for a bit seeing as my body doesn’t want to move so may as well. Don’t even know why, all I did was walk today.
My eyes open only to see white all around and I can’t exactly feel or even see my body.
Well shit, I’m back in this place. I grumble to the empty void. I sat there for a while before a notice something different. The screens that show all the images are not here. I look all around before I notice a grey floor.
No that wasn’t there just before. Looking around more, there is now a potted orange flower on a brown table to my right. A bird of paradise with on flower. I turn around and the eye screen things are back, still with their flashing imagery. I go to sit down but a I got a bad headache as I both sat as a human and a umbreon.
CAN THIS PLACE JUST STOP MESSING WITH MY HEAD! I scream into the uncaring white void. As time passes, more and more of nothing happened.
I wake to a dark room but my eyes quickly adjust and shows me it is just the room at the pokecentre very late at night. Jennifer and Oliver had released the other pokemon who were sleeping in various places around the room with the two vulpixes still against my side.
How long was I asleep?
I manage to get to my feet without waking Sune and Lumi and go over to the window to see the moon high in the night sky. I turn around and the first thing my eyes land on is a piece of white paper at the base of the door. Which is odd, and I am not sure if it is a good sign or not. I listen for anything out of the ordinary, but I don’t hear anything. So I walk cautiously over to the piece of paper that had been, by my guess, slid under the door. As I approach, I can make out writing. I get close enough to read two larger written words atop the page, and my heart skips a beat at the those, and who it is addressed to.
*DEAR SHADE*
