27: Prism Prison Break

27: Prism Prison Break

My head hurts. I say with my eye close while lying down my side as my mind slowly wakes up. I could feel something around my neck. I replay what I last remember. Mental scenes flash through my mind. The first is coming to my senses in front of the tower, the hypnotised and angry persian was next, followed by the recollection of going looking for twins, then ending up in the room, the. The pain.

My whole instantly become alert as my eyes open and I quickly get up and observe my surroundings. My night vision allowed me to see in the normally black room and I could tell I was in a cage immediately. There was enough room for me to move a bit and probably put another similar sized pokemon with me, but the worse part of it was I wasn’t alone. From my vantage point, I could see about two dozen cages and seeing as I was higher up, there were probably more below me. Most of them had pokemon in them. I could see a noctowl, a pair of talon flames, a miday form lycanroc, a stararvia, and the persian and luxray I had seen before.

All the pokemon were trying various means of damaging the cages. Biting, scrating, and hitting the cages they were in, but none of the various species were using any moves. Although the lyconrock seemed to be doing a decent job itself as the bars are bent outwards and every time it hits. I could hear the metal straining after every strike but the cage never seemed to move despite basic physics saying otherwise. I didn’t see any people, so I activate Iron Claw. The white glow appears around my foot as my body is ravaged in painful shocks. My vision and senses blue before it goes away.

My legs are shaking and I’m breathing heavily. My body slightly twitching as I calm myself down from the sudden and short shock. I look down and see that the move wasn’t working. I look back to the various pokemon and notice they all had something in common. A metal ring around their neck.

A fucken shock collar! I angrily curse. I charge the front of my cage, eliciting a sharp pain in my shoulder where I hit. I step back and look to try and find any sort of damage and I see that did nothing. Didn’t even seem to shove the cage forward. Although, if that lycanroc, can’t why would I be able to. I look around to find any hint on how I can escape. The room was silver in colouration with a single door on the wall to my left. As I search the prison, my eyes land on a silver key near the door that I can only see because of my night vision. I sit in the cage and black out my rings and think before against my better judgement, an idea pops in.

What limits does the collar have on moves?

Of course, this was dumb. I knew it. I knew it was stupid.

I think back to my move set, wondering what I could try. My instincts kept trying to deter me, but I shoved those aside.

My mind settled on trying Double Team as why would they ever need to prevent a pokemon with a collar on just making basic illusion when they can press a button and find the original.

My body tensed up. I took a deep breath. And created a Double Team clone.

Shit! I scream as pain coursed throughout my body as my vision blurred, my hearing was static, my legs collapsed. I lay there, breathing heavily as the pain vanishes. But still my mind went back to the same idea, although my body probably could only sustain one more shock. I also noticed that I no longer were hiding the colouring of my rings as a faint blue lit a small spot in the silver cage.

What about something new? I shakily say through heavy breathes while moving to an upright laying position.

I take another few breaths to steady my breathing and mind. I close my eyes and take on final breath before using Puppeteer. I can feel the clone manifest beside me as I wait for the pain. And waited. And waited. My eyes slowly open and I turn my head to see the copy standing there.

Haha. I quietly let slip as the tension all over my body eases.

I delete that clone as I remember a pokemon entry.

Luxrays can see through walls!

Luxray! I call out and getting the attention of the gleam eyes pokemon. He doesn’t seem to able to spot me directly but looks in my direction.

What do you want? The pokemon defeatedly says.

Is there any guards outside this room?

The luxray looks around with a golden sheen to his eyes. No. The pokemon says. I finaly notice that the ring around his neck is yellow. Maybe it did something more as shocking an electric type is counterproductive. Or not. I have no idea. Maybe the voltage is just a lot higher.

With that, I create a clone and as it appears on the floor, the room falls almost silent as the can see the clones blue lights in the otherwise dark room. I have it walk over to the hanging key and knock it down. I then have the copy pick it up and carry it over to a mankey and unlock its cage. The pokemon is quite excited as it leaves the cage and tackle hugs the puppet, causing it to dissipate and leave the room in darkness again. I quickly re-summon the clone and have it use the rings to fill the room with a blue-silver light. The makey quickly gets to work, unlocking cage after cage. Once everyone is free, the collars were the next issue.

My first idea was the mankey being able to unclip them but that didn’t work. Next suggestion was to have the lyconrock rip them apart but he wasn’t able to get a solid grip without hurting the pokemon he was trying to free. Ideas went around till a butterfree asked me a question.

Can your copy use moves? It asked while happily hovering above us all.

It was still acting as a glorified light, so I increased my rings brightness and had the clone attempt to use Iron Claw. I hadn’t used these two moves together so it took a bit longer to get the right energy flow but it worked without causing me any harm. Luckily.

A few minutes latter and some careful movements, the floor was littered with broken parts of metal and wires. With that, the lycanroc went to rip the door apart.

WAIT! I yelled making the wolf pokemon hesitate and holt his destruction spree.

Why should I umbreon? He angrily aks as he turns to glare at me.

If we don’t deal with the thing that brought us all here, we just will end up back here. I reason. It’s on the roof. I think.

The other pokemon look nervously around at each other while keeping an eye on the two of us.

Fine. The wolf concedes. We will deal with the cause of this, but then I’m leaving.

The door slides open as the woman from before goes to take a step forward before stopping as we all look towards the now confused and scared woman. She taps a band on her wrist and notices nothing happening. She taps it again. And again. Realising the device isn’t working, she bolts down the hallway, quickly followed by the alolan rock type.

The other pokemon quickly follow suite, swarming out into the hallway while I just watch for a moment and look towards my clone which vanished at my command. I follow the crowd smiling.

I always wanted to do a prison breakout. The only issue is I was never arrested or had the guts to do it. Well, that is something to mark off of the never done list.
