40: Havoc

My plan was betting on the fact these criminals wouldn’t move for a while which paid off. The twins caught up to us and I got them into the forest before they got spotted and did something. Once I had explained my idea, discussed some possible alterations and fall backs, we put the first step into action.

Oliver released Aron and he swiftly did as instructed. I don’t know when he learned it, but the steel type used Dig to tunnel underground and make his way over to the truck. He popped underneath the large vehicle and moved over to the front right tires before easily biting the axel in half and ripping open the tires before he dived back into the hole. I was honestly surprised that it took ten minutes before one of the grunts noticed the truck was lower than it should be. By then Aron had ruined the other seven sets of tires on the truck and trailer. I doubted that the vehicle, as all of its wheels where doubled up, had sixteen spare tires, and spare axels.

But the best part? That the only one of those three blind dim whits who noticed it, just ignored it! They might as well just be a npc right about now! With the truck not going anywhere at all, I moved into the next stage of this hastily erected plan. I started circling the building, using the forest as cover, to cause a distraction out the back in order to draw the guards away. Although it seems I didn’t have to.

A large explosion erupted from behind the mansion and the three dim whits made their way back there. They are quickly out of sight so I, like the rest of the makeshift rescue group, excluding the two vulpixes, dart to the truck. The twins are surprised to see my running over to them instead of hiding as we discussed, but they focused returned their attention to the task at hand. The odd girl reaches the tarp first and is just stands there looking panicked. I reach there next and using Iron Claw, cut off the ropes securing the cover in place, and, grabbing it with my teeth I pull it down. As the tarp slides down to my side, it first reveals the bars of a cage. I leap up to the top of the trailer and can see a figure laying down. The tarp falls past the bottom of the trailer and a moment of shock passes through my mind. Laying injured on the bottom of the cage, with its eyes closed, is a latios! A real life latios!

The injured latios slowly opens its eyes and looks at us, he sees me with the look in his eyes asking for help. He is able to rise a little but is clearly badly wounded.

I activate Iron Claw and I swing to shread the metal bars but my attack stops dead cold, leaving only a set of three small lines on the first bar I struck. A loud metallic ring sounds out aswell. Aron manages to get on the truck and it takes a few moments to rip the bars to shreds with his jaws.

Once a few bars were gone, the girl we met suddenly jumps up to enter the cage. She crouches next to the injured legendary as I notice a shimmer of light appear in the cage. As I hear distant yelling from behind the building as the injured latios is lifted up by seemingly nothing.

We need to leave. I say and move into the cage to help move the latios. I reach the side of the dragon type and a sharp pain in my side appears out of nowhere as I am lifted and launched off my feet. I spun for a moment before I stopped the twisting and land on my feet outside of the cage. I look back into the cage and the injured latios is gone. The girl aswell.

Where did they go!? I yell in frustration at being hit and I could hear the sounds of people coming closer.

“I’ll explain later!” I hear Jennifer yell as she starts running down the path. We all start making a run for it and we reach the forest as fast as we can. The sounds of the team rocket members got louder as I grab Lumi in my mouth and create a copy with Puppeteer to do the same for Sune. I had it follow behind me, following the same path I moved. We stayed in the forest as we ran despite it being more dangerous due to all the obstacles, but it is better than being in the open. I quickly activated Detect in order to dodge all of the trees, debris, and other obstacles that would normally plague the forest.

“Follow me!” Is what Oliver called after a few minutes of legging it as he bolts across the road and starts running deeper into the forest on the other side of the road. I wasn’t sure what his plan was, but at least he seemed to have a better one than just run away. Once in the other side of the forest, we all went further and further away from the road in a straight line. Well, as straight as you could in a forest full of trees. I had held back on my running in to stay with the two trainers and so that Lumi and Sune wouldn’t be flung about as much.

The odd part about this fleeing for possibly our lives? Was the amount I was loving it! The adrenaline in my veins making it difficult to not hold back and basically vanish from any trail I would leave behind! I could to! I could just get to safety. It wouldn’t even be hard for me.

My train of thought was broken when I heard a voice. Where are we going? Lumi says and I noticed that I had started to leave the twins behind while I would have just taken myself and my adopted kids far away at the rate I would have been going. At that point, the effects of Detect wore off and I hesitated. I swiftly trip and my momentum carries me through the air. I curl around the ice type as pain flairs all along my back. The sudden stop sending my head spinning, making me loose concentration, and I felt the clone fade. The clone carrying Sune.

My body, regardless of the pain, bounds up and jumps forward as a little red ball of fur flies through the air. I manage to wrap my body around the fire type and slow his speed as I land. The andrenaline keeping me from feeling the pain that I received from smashing back first into a tree. I pick Sune up and summon a clone to grab Lumi once the twins reach us. Jennifer looked she was about to say something, but I was already moving. We could all worry about me once we were all safe.

We had been moving till sundown and were about to take a break when I noticed through the trees ahead of us was open plains and a large light source. So we continued on, my back in a surprising amount of pain given how resilient my new body seems to be. Which makes me somewhat paranoid that the houndoom that belonged to the vulpixes previous own is dead. Although I was going quiet fast at the point of impact. And I slammed into the tree with my back. I just hope I’m being worried for nothing though. I mean, I did receive worse hits when I got used as a throwing toy by the machamp back in Santalune City and I didn’t break anything. I think? I did fall unconscious though. While the injury from slamming into that tree did hurt once the adrenaline faded, the pain has lessened since then, so yeah, it’s probably nothing.

Jennifer also told me what happened to the girl. After I was knocked from the cage but something invisible, the light shimmered in a rainbow colour and both her and the injured latias vanished.

The light in distance as it turns out, was another town. This one was Camphrier Town. The size of the town was considerable with the main feature towering above the rest of the location on a large hill. A large mannor which if I recall correctly, is used as a hotel. I would double check but A; I don’t have a phone, and B; we were going to stay in the local pokecenter for the night so no exploring for the moment.

The interior was identical to the others. I guess it makes sense to have a medical facility be like that in order to allow for employees to easily swap between centres.

“Hello, and welcome to the Camphrier Town Pokecenter. My name is Topaz, what can I do for you?” I hear called out from the desk. Standing behind the counter was a very short woman with gold hair and orange eyes. And I am starting to get a trend of all these pokecenters. Well, the healers the run them. Cause three separate people, all being named after gems, and having the same eyes and hair colour towards the stone, can’t be a coincidence.

Well, at least its more reasonable than all of them being an identical looking person named Joy.

The twins handed off their pokeballs and I followed the nurse. The two vulpixes were hesitant. They had been on edge since we seen the light of the city. I had to carry Lumi by the scruff of her neck while Sune rode on my back. Because I didn’t stand out enough.

They seemed to calm down though once we were in the building and seeing me simply follow Topaz. They still had doubts on people. They still are afraid to some degree of Oliver and Jennifer. That might take a long time to heal though. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve witnessed the effects of abuse.

“Its quite interesting those two trainers got both you and two wild vulpixes to follow them.” Topaz said as she set up a larger healing pad then normal. I guess she was going to have us all together. “Diamond told me about you and you’re quite an odd one.” She says smiling as the machine activates. I layed down, circling the two scared vulpines, as the machine did its job.
