“Why did you go there?” Jennifer asks, glancing between me and the centre of the garden from her spot under a tree, with Oliver doing the same but his gaze lingered longer on the garden.
Because the queen wanted to meet me again. I respond But I did ask her what she thinks we should do with our anonymous writer.
“And what did she say?” Jennifer asked with suspicion.
Well, we meet him tonight. I say, trying to sound encouraging.
“No, there has to be another way.” Jen says adamantly.
“Mind explaining?” Oliver says annoyed.
“Apparently the advice the Queen of the Garden gave Shade was to meet the writer tonight.” She replies while crossing her arms. “We have to find a different way as that has to many risks.” Jennifer adds while looking to me. We all stand in silence in the shade for several minutes before Oliver spoke.
“Its not an entirely dumb plan.” He said with reluctance, causing us all to look to him. “I mean, Shade does have Extreme Speed doesn’t she?” He said looking to both Jennifer and me. “Couldn’t we just open the door and have her use it to pin him down?”
That, actually isn’t a bad idea. I say quietly to myself, annoyed I wasn’t the one to think of it.
“We seriously can’t be considering this?” Jennifer worriedly asks us both. “We don’t know anything about this person and you want to meet him face to face.?”
Well like Oliver said, I could pin him down. I reason.
Jennifer is quiet for a bit before speaking up. “Fine, we will do it your way Oliver.” She resigns.
If it helps, I don’t feel good about having to do this ourselves.

The day passed slowly, all of us going around town. As the day faded away, we headed back to the pokecentre, stopping to grab some rope.
I was currently sitting facing the door with Oliver staying awake with me while Jennifer and both of the adopted vulpixes asleep. The moon being the only light as it rose higher and higher till it reached its highest point and started descending. Oliver was barely awake at this point but at roughly 1am, a note slid beneath the door.
He is here. I say to a sleep deprived Oliver as I move to read the letter, causing him to wake up a bit. Upon reaching the letter, I start reading while Oliver wakes himself up a bit.
*HELLO SHADE, I SEE YOU TOLD YOUR COMPAIONS BUT THAT’S FINE.
NOW THEN, HOW ABOUT YOU OPEN THAT DOOR SO WE CAN MEET FACE TO FACE.
PRETTTY PLEASE?*
I look to Oliver who is now awake and aware, and I nod towards to door as I step towards the side that will open so I can bolt through it. Oliver stands and walks towards the door and grabs a hold of the handle and opens it quickly. As the door opens, I use Extreme Speed, becoming essentially invisible, as I flash through the doorway into the dimly lit hallway. I instantly collide with my target, and I pin them down. It takes me a second to realise who, or rather what, the note writer is.
An abra? I say in surprise at the revelation.
The humanoid physic type is pinned face down with both my paws on its back as Oliver exits the room.
“An abra?” He says in surprise at the appearance of our stalker.
Yes, I am an abra. The male and agitated sounding psi pokemon responds. Now get off me before my trainer comes.
Yeah, no. I’d rather not loose you. I say, annoyed myself. Now I want a few answers. I add aggressively, increasing my pressure on the abra. First up, lets get a name for the anonymous author? The abra stays quiet. Well, am I going to get an answer? I say threateningly.
This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
The only name I know him by is Psi. The abra reluctantly said. And seeing as one of your questions are going to be this anyway, no, we haven’t been following you for long. About a day or so.
Well, that’s somewhat comforting. I respond.
“An abra?” I hear a half asleep and cautious Jennifer say from the doorway.
Is it that surprising? The psi pokemon sarcastically says.
Yes, actually, but why are you following us? I respond, dragging the conversation back.
Like my trainer said in the notes, he wants something you have. The abra responds.
“That’s right.” I hear said from down the hallway. I spin to face down the new individual, keeping my foot on the abra. Oliver steps in front of his sister as Jennifer as she moves back into the room. “Good evening.”
The man before us was standing in the darkness of the hallway hidden in a cloak, shrouding him in darkness, although that did nothing for my vision. The only part of him exposed was his face which looked about mid 40s. He had bronze eyes and white hair, with a confident gaze and a slight smirk.
“So, who are you?” Oliver cautiously asks.
“You can simply call me Psi.” The stranger says calmly. “And may you please get off my partner.”
I shake my head. Sorry, but if you got this guy back, then you have no need to stay here. He simply smiles while raising his hands non-threateningly after noticing I wont get of his abra.
“Well then, I guess I should explain why I am here. Would that make you let go of my partner?” He offers, getting a nod from the twins and myself. “Well, I am a bounty hunter, and I was recently approached by a man to retrieve two vulpixes, that were stolen by two trainers and an odd looking umbreon.”
I feel the anger rising as I increase the pressure on the abra, and both twins get ready for a fight.
“Now before we do something we will all regret, I already know the situation pretty well.” He said lowering his arms. “Because I may have, kind of, sorta, had my partner, read both of your minds while you guys slept.” Psi confessed while looking at both Jennifer and Oliver. Both twins visibly are worried at the thought. “I would have read the mind of you Shade but dark types are rather hard to get information out of like that.”
I relax at him not taking Sune and Lumi, but that doesn’t help me with the current anger at the person who dares to try and take both Lumi and Sune from us. I know exactly who requested his help as well, which just made me even angrier.
“So instead of stealing those two vulpixes, I rather have a different proposition.” The man continues, clapping his hands together. “I would rather get the same opportunity as my brother.”
What? My confusion was evident while Jennifer looked worried while Oliver looked on cautiously.
“Who is your brother?” Oliver asks with suspicion.
“Do you recall a man named Ben?” He asks sincerely. While both twins don’t seem to recognise the name, I sure as hell do. Mostly because he picked my up and treated me like a toy. “Well it at least seems one of you do.” Psi says sarcastically as he seems my surprise.
“Oh, the guy with the robotic arm.” Jennifer says, figuring out who we were talking about.
“Correct! Anyway, the opportunity I was talking about was being able to hold Shade!” He said with a massive smile on his face. I just start laughing at the ridiculousness of his claim, but I look at his face after a few seconds and notice he is serious. A few seconds of silence stretch on before I look down at the abra.
Is he serious? I say slightly concerned.
He very much is. The abra responds straight away. I look back to the bounty hunter with a glare.
“How do we know you are not lying?” Oliver asks with suspicion.
“Because.” He says as he raises his hands and clicks his fingers. I feel the abra vanish from beneath me as I touch the floor and the pokemon appears at his side. “How would you have ever known we took those two vulpixes?” His words suddenly felt a lot more trustworthy at that display, but I still adamantly call bullshit on his request.
“Well I guess you seem trustworthy now.” Jennifer shyly speaks up, getting a glare from both me and Oliver. “But I guess a quick hold wont hurt, right Shade?” She questions me while under both stares.
No. I immediately respond.
“Wonderful.” Psi happily says from his position down the hallway.
I said no. I angerly say as I look towards the bounty hunter to see he isn’t there. I feel and arm wrap round my chest as I leave the ground. I feel the air leave my lungs as this guy hugs me. I WILL END YOU. I yell as I struggle to get out of his grip. I suddenly feel something tied around the base of my left ear causing me to use Extreme Speed to bolt out of his grasp. I land several meters down the hallway and turn around as I activate Dark Pulse, consequences be dammed, but all there was a falling piece of paper.
“Shade!” Jennifer calls as she rushes over to me as Oliver grabs to piece of paper. “Why did you do that!?” She angerly asks, trying to be quiet as possible. Although if anyone was still asleep would be a miracle at this point.
He tied something around my ear! I respond annoyed, trying to flick it off but it just kept swinging around my ear.
“Well stop moving your head.” Jennifer says while grabbing my ear to see what is tied there. “Its is a small chain with a spherical pendant on the end of it.” She says looking at it.
Well can you take it off? I respond.
“Yeah, I should be able to remove it.” She answers as she fiddles with it.
“I don’t think you should do that.” Oliver says as he walks over with the note that was left behind. My heart sunk a bit at that, worried removing it would cause something bad to happen. Jennifer looks back to her brother confused.
“Why?” She nervously asks.
“Well.” Oliver responds looking at the note. “Apparently that is a mega stone for an umbreon.”
