29: Questioning and Questions

HOW ARE YOU STILL STANDING!? I yell as I dodge backwards while string strike my previous position. A large bolder smashes into the spider from the lycanroc before a torrent of fire strikes it from above as an injured talonflame hovers.

The spider tenses as static surrounds it before a bolt of lightning flies out and strikes the bird. The talonflame falls, landing beside the other fallen talonflame. Another bolt of lightning flies my way and I tense to jump. My front leg suddenly contracts involuntarily as paralysis hits me. My mind goes blank for a moment before coming to, everything hurting more while the galvantula is smashed by a rising stone from below and launched upwards. It starts tilting backwards but manages to flip itself mid-air, landing safely on its four large legs.

I look over to the door to see the rubble and webs coating it, preventing us from leaving. I could still hear the faint sound of sirens. A sense of danger has me activate Extreme Speed and back away. I see an electrified web stick to where I previously stood.

I charge back in with Extreme Speed and use Toxic. A beam of purple smoke hits the spider head on, and I swiftly added the whip variant of Iron Tail to the mix as another bolder strikes the pokemon. I land a distance away only for my leg left legs to both contract. Sending me to the fucken ground!

The smoke quickly fads to reveal a galvantula, still somehow standing! After the amount of punishment it received, it should have collapsed by now. But I noticed something was wrong with it now.

Its steps seemed slower and less certain. Did Toxic land the poison affect? I stand there, ready to dodge the attack with the lycanroc beside me. My danger sense shot up, but not from the spider. I activate Extreme Speed as my body is hit with paralysis, contracting my two front legs. A loud explosion rings out as my back is dotted in spots of pain and I’m airborne again. It comes to a swift stop as my head smacks something followed by my body and whatever hit me before. I land on the ground on my side, my head, and right back leg pinned. Dust filled the room along with natural light from the new hole in the wall as a tyranitar and two luxrays run in.

“SECURE THE AREA!” I hear yelled as the sounds of sirens is much louder. The spinning propeller of a helicopter present in the background. The luxrays run out of sight as the lycanroc makes it exit, the tyranitar unable to move fast enough to capture it. Two bolts of lightning follow it out of the building as darkness starts appearing in my vision.

No No No NO! I think to my self as I slowly drift off into unconscious. Not a, ag-aiinn….

I woke to the sound of beeping and open my eyes to see I’m on one of the healing pads again. Looking around the room, there were several others lined up, all empty. There was a door and security camera, like last time the police caught me. There was a table in the middle of the room with a bench on my side and a seat on the other. A large window framed one section of the room. I go to yawn only to realise my mouth won’t open very far. I have another muzzle on.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

It doesn’t take long for the door to open and I see who it is.

”Hello again Shade.” David says as his persian and alakzam walk in. “You know why we are here so lets just cut the small talk. Why were you with two dozen wild pokemon in the top of Prism Tower with several members from team Rocket?”

I recount the events from when I came to standing in front of the tower, the detective scribbling down notes the whole time and occasionally asking for clarification as the persian translated and the alakazam checked for any false information. I also got an answer to a question that had been bugging me and was disappointed. The persian isn’t team rockets meowth from the anime, rather, it his one of his decedents! I wonder if he taught all his offspring to talk?

“Well, I’ll just send you back too the two trainers you’re with after one final question.” David asks, his tone darkening as he leans forward and places his hands together on the desk. “Where did you originally come from?”

I’m going to need clarification on that. I tensely say.

“Where did you come from, before you met the twins Jennifer and Oliver Hawthorn?”

I was wild before I met the twins. I say and notice the alakzam shift and David looks back towards his physic partner.

“Well that’s interesting.” He says looking back at me. “That statement, according to alakzam, was both the truth and a lie. You wouldn’t happen to know about a wrecked car near where you first met the siblings, a far ways into the forest next to a cliff?” My body froze at that. “So I guess that’s a yes then.” The police official smugly says, reading my reaction like an open book.

“Thank you Shade.” He says as he gets up and walks around the desk to remove the muzzle. “And don’t worry, those two questions wont be written down. Lets call it my own interest.”

He starts to leave the room with his companions as I ask one more question.

What is going to happen to the wild pokemon that were in the tower?

“They were initially going to attempt to be questioned about the events that took place but once I learned you were present, I told them to be healed and let go. Normally wild pokemon can be, lets say difficult.” He leaves the room after that response and I sit there momentarily.”

I quietly leave the room alone. And only one thing is running through my mind.

How did he work it out? HOW!

Turns out, they brought me to the pokecenter we first booked to stay at! I met the twins in the booked room in the pokecenter and was swiftly hugged.

“I’m not letting you go again!” Jennifer says with some tears as Oliver tried to open her arms to let me breath. For a solid minute, I was essentially being strangled! Her grip eventually loosened and air to enter my lungs.

Hu, hu, hu. Don’t do that again! I tell her as I controlled my breathing.

“Well stop getting lost and I won’t!” She responds.

Well it wasn’t my fault this time!

“How wasn’t it your fau..”

Her currently worried mind just seemed to stop, her eyes just blanked while looking at me. Oliver looked clueless at the sudden reaction. The silence stretched on for a few moments before Oliver spoke.

“You okay sis?” He asked touching her shoulder.

“I understood what Shade said.”

Jennifer looked, mentally broken, trying to process. My own mind kind of stopped working as what did that even mean.

“What do you mean you understood Shade?” Oliver said tilting his head in confusion.

What the fuck is going on?

“I have no idea.” Jennifer responded.

“What do you have no idea about!?” Oliver said rocking his sister’s shoulder. “What am I missing!?”

“I told you.” She looks to her brother in fear and awe. “I can understand Shade.”
