16: Training, Raining, and Playing

I woke to a white room.

Great, the nightmare again. Looking around, nothing appeared different but I quickly released that was wrong. The limbs I was feeling weren’t my previous body’s, rather, they were my current one. The room suddenly went black and the two screens appeared. They were a different from last time as they were wider and angled. The images still changed too fast to make out what was being displayed and I waited for the end to happen and when the pain did hit, it wasn’t in my side with the scar, rather, it was my left eye, and it was so much worse.

I woke up sweating and heavily breathing and saw Jennifer looking really concerned. “Are you okay Shade?”

I took a bit to calm down before finally nodding.

At that, she concerningly asked “Was It a nightmare?” to which I nod. I look out the tent door to see I woke at the same time as before, the start of dawn. I guess she was holding me and I woke her. I got up, opened the tent door and headed off to calm down only looking back to see Jen looking at me from inside the tent.

I spent the dawn till morning just running around the trees that were in the nearby forest. I found it calming. It also helped me remember something from my previous life.

I was sitting on a bench with the same girl from my last memory. I remember the same black and yellow uniform and could hear people around us but I can’t remember where we were except sitting next to a large tree.

I remember asking the girl something about dreams but not the exact words.

“I don’t have many dreams anymore.” She said sadly. “It’s not that I have nightmares either, I just don’t have them.”

“Would you like too here mine M*//3?” I ask.

“That would be nice.”

“Well, the dream I had last night was an odd one. I was walking across a field of flowers alone. I could go any direction I wanted and there would just be more flowers. It was boring but I always felt if I kept going, there would be something.”

“Did you find what was in your dream?” She curiously asked.

“No, but it was fun just being able to run around.”

She smiled happily and said something I don’t remember before I couldn’t remember the rest.

It was nice to know I could remember far back as primary school. I decided to head back to the camp, and I saw the two trainers battling with all of their equipment packed up. Aron was against Fen and the two would attack but it didn’t seem like they were hitting each other, rather dodging the others attack.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“Aron, iron claw.” Oliver calls out to his pokemon.

“Fen, back up.”

Aron starts rushing Fen, his front right paw starting to glow white, as she tries to back up to dodge the attack. Fen trips and falls and Aron quickly capitalises on that. He lunges as a se of three glowing claws extend and strike the fennekin.

“I’d say that’s my win.” Oliver smugly announces.

“Fineee. You win.” Jennifer replies defeated.

I guess they used a similar rule to what I practise with. First strike wins. But that isn’t really effective to train with. Unless your practising dodging, then I might be pretty good. Well, I guess when your out on a journey, you don’t want your pokemon weakened. But why did they go all out on me then? Their pokemon also seem to be in better shape after leaving a pokeball so there might be something there also. Eh, questions for another time. The twins notice me and wave me over while calling out that we are headed off.

The travel through the forest was fine for about 3 hours till I heard the sound of rain in the distance. It sounded like there was a lot and the sky was getting dark, so I guess a storm was about to set in. The twins didn’t seem to notice it yet, but I saw several pokemon darting for cover or flying away from it. The first sound of thunder cracked out which got the trainers attention. The pair reached into their bags and both pulled out raincoats that went down to their shoes. Both were a plain brown and had hoddies so they could stay dry.

It was a few more minutes of walking before the rain came down which at first was just a dirzzle but it quickly became torrential. The falling water was cold but it felt great. I jut started running around because I could. I had always liked storms, lightning and the cold air that blew all around, but just being able to run as much as I wanted with perfect vision through the rain and shadows was wonderful. It would have been nice to be able to throw water balloons around with a pair of hands, but I guess you make do with what you have.

My vision is suddenly completely white as a deafening crack booms out while the ground shakes which all together stuns me for a bit. When I can see properly, I look to the side of the road to see a broken black tree fallen over and in hundreds of pieces. A bolt of lightning struck a tree torching and splintering it. It was only a meter or two away from me. I look back to see the twins stumbling around disorientated.

You guys okay! I yell while going over to them as clearly the lightning strike did more to them than me.

It takes a few moments before Oliver looks okay followed by Jennifer. Oliver notices my worried face. “We’re okay Shade. We should try find some cover though, maybe a cave entrance or something.” He says to me. Panning my vision around, there is no chance of that. Everything is forest and there is no rise in terrain for a cave to be suitable. Its also dangerous for us to go into the forest during the storm as the trees would draw the bolts and possibly harm me, probably kill them.

In the mud, I draw an arrow that goes straight along the road and just start quickly moving along the road to which the twins swiftly follow. We rushed through the rain as I kept an eye out for any dangers or possible hiding spaces. An idea suddenly sparks in my head which makes me stop and I start writing out my idea. Both humans stopped to see what I was writing. I wrote it slightly wrong, doing the wrong lines or symbol but in the end, the message was readable and read:

*Use Aron’s Rock Tomb to make us a shelter*

“Shade you bloody genius!” Jen yelled over the sound of torrential downpour as Oliver released Aron and told him what to do. The steel type spent a minute stacking chunks of rock making a decent temporary shelter to which we went under. Aron even made us a makeshift seat!

We decided to wait out the storm here, hopefully that won’t be long. In the meantime, Puppeteer and changing Iron Tail to Iron Claw seemed like a good use of my time.
