35: Moving On

35: Moving On

It was finally sunrise after that horrendous night. I’m only still extremely awake due to my ability to absorb moon light and use it as energy. Both the twins were drossy and while the red vulpix was still marching on, all be it sleep deprived, the other had decided my back was a nice place to fall asleep. I would have thought she would be cold to the touch, but she is actually quite warm. I guess she is covered in fur and would have to stay warm in her naturally frigid region. Hoot was still flying high, but he was starting to get tired due to the sun being up.

The night time sounds had quieted down and hour or so ago and now the songs of birds was filling the morning air and I could see dozens of pokemon moving about the forest as the woke from their night time slumber. Surprisingly, I did see a pair of salamances flying overhead. I guess unlike the games, a pokemon can be anywhere it wants to be, regardless of level.

Actually, do they have a way of determining an individual’s level of strength? I mean there wouldn’t be a system of xp points, levels, and all that other game stuff, but is there something they use instead? My thoughts were dragged away from me as I watched the vulpix walking with us collapse.

Are you okay? I ask before anyone said anything. He didn’t respond. I move closer and see he is still breathing, and I could hear him snoring. He just fell asleep. I look back and see that the both of them wouldn’t fit easily on my back and I feel like carrying him around by the fur on the back of his neck is going to far..

“Is he alright?” Oliver says in his sleepless state after realising I hadn’t done anything.

Just tired. I say which at first Oliver doesn’t get till Jennifer manages to quickly translates for him. She then picks up the sleeping pokemon and holds him lightly in her arms as not to wake him and we continued along the path.

I’m sure we don’t need to do this. I say to the two angered individuals in front of me.

Oliver told me to stand guard because I wasn’t tired in the slightest while Jennifer returned Hoot and they took a few minutes to rest. And both the twins and vulpixes are now very asleep. They fell asleep an hour ago and the locals aren’t happy! Im guessing this tree is where these TWO ursaring claimed as there because they are both seemingly pissed!

Look, guys. I say as I dodge an Iron Claw. I’m sure we can talk this out. I duck under a Hyper Beam as it sails off into the forest beyond. This is a simple misunderstandiiiinnnnggg!!! My leg is pulled, and I move backwards before I’m no longer touching the ground. Everything is upside down as I come eye level to one of the ursarings. May I say you have beautiful eyes?

Why thank you, I do try hard to keep them nice but heee never appreciates it! The pokemon holding me upside blurts out while glaring at the other.

Well I think they are beautiful as they were. The other ursaring comments. You were the only one who ever caught my eye.

Well I would love to see how they look then as well. I say from my upside down location, hoping that some god saves me right now. I got lucky once but I’m not trusting flattery will work twice. The bear reaches for my head and I close my eyes expecting to be slapped rather painfully when I fell my cheek being pulled.

Stolen story; please report.

Awwwwwww, isn’t she just the nicest thing. The I can only assume female bear says like my grandmother did. She lowers me down and I can get my feet on the ground and I can see the twins and the vulpixes are somehow still asleep! And the corniness of these two hurts my soul.

But it gets worse with the next thing she says! We should adopt her! She says this in the most excited tone of voice.

Wait, what!? Me and the male bear say in unison. The random hugs and subsequent entrapment from Jennifer is bad enough but that is completely absurd.

What do you mean what? You always loved having kids but now that ours have moved on, you have complained about not having anyone to love as your child. The, I’m going with wife at this point, says to her husband while looking at him, taking her eyes of me for the moment. I take that chance to create a puppet and dash over to my traveling buddies.

I start pushing the others to wake them, keeping my voice as low as I possibly can, trying to wake them while those two back there fight like an elderly married couple. Which I guess they probably are but no time to for specifics!

A few minutes go by and I finally manage to wake the group up, and luckily those two are still arguing and haven’t noticed what is standing there is a copy. They are still drowsy but seeing the two bears behind me quickly draws them into an attentive mindset. With all of them awake, we sneak away, keeping as quiet as possible.

*SNAP*

The lot of us immediately cringe and just run. We got about a dozen meters away before I hear more chatter from the bears.

My my, it seems the humans have run off and it seem you darling want to stay with us. I hear the wife say very clearly. I instinctively leap away and turn around to fight but I see no one near where I was standing. The bears were not even in sight. My front right leg flairs up in pain as I land on it with all my weight, and I hit the ground. I get up swiftly and quickly survey where I land only to see a small divot next to my sore foot but with no imminent threat, I dash off after the twins as we run for it thinking what the hell was that.

We finally come across a marked campsite a few hours after running from the bears and we set up as it was late afternoon. Despite how early it was, Jennifer and Oliver had both fallen asleep in their tents with the two foxes we saved sleeping outside together. The twins also had let out the other pokemon to play and do what they wanted for a few hours. Of course, these four have a slightly skewed image of what a game was as I currently lay defeated on the ground being dogpiled by the four of them with a few small bumps and sore spots.

Can I get up know? I say to the group atop of me. All of the had a muffled laugh and whoever was atop of the pile jumped up and came back down, knocking a bit of wind out of my lungs. You guys are very aware what I can do!

And we are very aware you won’t. I hear Froakie retort. I mean he isn’t wrong, so I just sigh in defeat. I look back over to the camp and see the regular vulpix trying to wake his sister, clearly stressed, and obviously wanting to leave. There was a clear mistrust of people for them, but we were the safest option they had for the time being and now they had other options. Well, the male did anyway.

You guys have five seconds to get off me. I say to the group atop of me.

Or what! The four of them said in unison. I smiled as I charged activated Quick Attack and using it to boost how quick I could move. I rapidly stood up, flinging all four of them off me.

That is what I’ll do. I smugly say as I walk over towards the vulpixes. I wanted to talk to them, but the male almost instantly notices my approach and starts frantically waking his sister. I notice the ice type wake up and see her brothers’ frantic movements and she gets worried.

Come on sis, lets go now. He blurts out as he starts moving away. He looks back to see she hasn’t moved. Come on, you don’t want her to catch you. He says gesturing at me. Think of what these people will make her do if they think we don’t have any value! He yells although he regrets the decision straight away. Rather than getting her to move, she freezes up instead and starts rapidly exhaling, causing the ground around her to freeze. Her brother froze up as well, unsure of what to do.

I needed to calm her down, but my body froze as well at how to do it.
