While Santalune city was nice, the tracks between locations are nicer. The forest is just more calming, It has the added benefit of me not constantly drawing the attention of everyone who looks at me. I was walking ahead of the two twins. Oliver had a forest camo hoodie again while Jennifer was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt. It wasn’t noticeable on Oliver due to his clothing, but you could notice the arm guard under Jens sleeve. Although, if you didn’t know what it was, you could be worried there was something wrong.
Another interesting thing is that the roads between cities actually are named routes. For example, we are currently on route 4. What’s interesting as well is rather than there being only a handful of numbered roads, it is actually close to 100 in Kalos. The routes all travel through empty nature no matter the biome. For example, route 93 is an invisible line straight through the sky. Its used for people flying on pokemon so they avoid air traffic and so they don’t get lost as from one point to the other is a straight line.
So far, route 4 had been like where I first met the two twins. A maintained dirt path through the forest with a stream nearby on the left. The stream though was down a small valley which during heavy rain would flood. The main difference between the two is there seemed to be a lot more flowers and open areas where only flowers of various colours sprouted. Overall, it seems the anime was the closer of the mediums to this world but I never did get into the manga so that could be closer. Walking along, I could see a lot a pokemon. There was a lot of pokemon from the first area such as pidgey, zigzagoon, bunnelbee, and a few low-level water types. There was also various Flabebe and combee floating around the fields of flowers, ledyba in the trees, I saw the occasional skitty prancing around away from the road, and the most surprising was an aipom swinging around. It shouldn’t even be here. Shouldn’t it be in the location gen two is set?
The world is so much livelier than the games or anime can even closely appreciate.
Looking back over the stream, it seemed to get deeper and split off from the road. I wanted to follow it so I darted into the forest to have a look. Using extreme speed, I reached the edge of the stream to find a lagoon with pokemon all around and swimming. What was odd though is on the opposite side to me beached on the stone bank, was what looked like a submarine. It wasn’t very large, maybe 15 meters long and 2 wide, but other than a few sections of rust, it looked brand new. It was almost all black except a few sections of orange lines. It looked familiar. But the odd thing is it looked like the sub from subnautica. At least the top half did as it was too stubby to have the docking bay.
Actually, its not that odd considering my situation.
I ran back to the road and jumping from the tree line, I don’t have time to react as I slam into Oliver sending us both rolling.
“That really hurt Shade!” Oliver yells from his spot on the ground.
Oh my god, I am so sorry, I didn’t know you had caught up to me. I say but of course I’m not understood but Jennifer sticks up for me.
“She didn’t mean it Oliver. But do be careful Shade.” She added helping her brother up.
I did feel bad about hitting him but at least I had their attention now. I started heading back the tree line and stopped right before entering to look back and gesture with my head for them to follow. I quickly head off after that as I hear the two running after me.
“Where are you going!?” Oliver yells out. I stop at the bank and wait for a bit before the twins catch up.
“First up! At least wait for us next time.” Oliver complains. “Second, this is amazing! Thirdly, the hell is that.” He says gesturing to the sub.
Let’s go look! I excitedly say to the twins.
“I saw we go look. This place is beautiful but that thing looks far more interesting.” Jennifer says starting her walk around the lagoon as I follow.
“I would say don’t do it, but I guess I’m out voted.” Oliver says following behind. “What do you reckon it was for?”
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Team Flare maybe.” Jen responds. “They had that same orange colour but im not sure what would be here.”
I guess they teach kids about the events that the organisation did. What was their goal agaiii..
Im suddenly failing down the bank and everything is spinning before I slow down and rest on the smooth rock bank.
The twins are laughing hysterically and looking back, the edge of the bank had fallen away in a small section where it went out from under me. Standing up, I start walking towards the beached vehicle. I could hear the two of them trying to hold their laughter. The lagoon was quite large and it took about a minute to reach the sub.
From what I could tell, my guess was correct at the length and width. There was a ladder beside me which I guess is how a person would get to the top. Using quick attack, I was able to launch myself on top. There was a hatch, but it had been by the looks of it welded shut.
“Hey Shade, can you get in!?” I hear Oliver call out which I shake my head once he can see me. I try looking in the glass front window but with my normal sight, the tinted window prevents any major view but when I try my night vision, it seems like the window suddenly goes pitch black.
I walk along the spine of the vessel and look into the lagoon. It could fit inside the water hole, but even if this place was flooded, there is no way this sub would fit down the rivers. I get to the propeller. What’s left of it anyway. It was only the centre part of it left so even if we got this back into the water, it wouldn’t move. Walking back to the front, the twins had climbed the ladder and looked at the hatch. It suddenly occurred to me, aron’s eat metal.
Rushing over to the Oliver, I try to get him to release Aron and both trainers were confused at what I was attempting.
Fine. I walk over the hatch and activate crunch. My jaw is lined in a silver light as I bite down on the hatch. Letting go, I did do some damage, so I try iron tail. Swinging around, I slam the move straight onto the lid which got me the sound of creaking metal.
“Aron, try eating the hatch.” Oliver finally calls out and the steel type shows up and starts ripping the welded hatch to shreds before eating it. It really was kind of scary that such a small pokemon could rip apart metal so easily.
It only took a minute before the hatch was gone. “You did well buddy, return.” Oliver calls out returning Aron.
I hopped down first and activated my rings lighting up the gloomy interior. There was a control console sitting at the glass window but along the sides of the room were consoles and screens. I guess the powers out. Opposite the window was a wall with a door in the middle. The door was dented from this side but was shut.
What on earth was here? The twins climbed down the ladder for the hatch and looked around as well.
“Well, this is creepy.” Jen said enjoying herself.
“Well at least one of us is enjoying themselves.” Oliver retorted clearly worried about the abandoned vessel. “I’m more worried at why that door is dented like that.” He added releasing Aron again. “Hey buddy, can you get that door down.”
Sure! The steel type happily said as he started working at it. It took one bite to wreck the lock and the door just swung open because of the ships angle. The next room was smaller than the one we were in but had even more consoles along the walls. They were all deactivated though. There was another door at the far end of the vessel that was also heavily damaged, but the dents were towards us this time.
“So someone clearly wanted what ever was in this room but how is the damage towards us.?” Jennifer said seeming worried now.
“Well, I guess we’re already here. Aron, next door.” Oliver responds. Aron once again rips the lock off the door but we had to pull this one open. The inside of this room had bunks and such with at the far corners being two small rooms and one door in the middle again. Above the beds on each side were spots for storage, I think. The floor had dozens of scorch marks and scratches and most of the beds were burned.
“Okay, seriously, what happened to this thing?” Oliver said on edge as Aron happily walked along the path and started on the middle door. The two small rooms were a shower and toilet and looking in the last room was an engine room. The engine was very much broken and in pieces. But there looked to be a generator in the corner of the room and was hooked up to an exposed set of wiring at the back of the engine.
“I guess there isn’t anything here.” Oliver says relieved. “I doubt any of your pokemon have electric moves so we could try the generator if it doesn’t have any fuel.”
“Shade does you idiot!” Jennifer yells at her brother. “You didn’t see her practising it on fruit back before Santalune city.”
You saw that? Jennifer doesn’t respond.
“No I didn’t but lets try the generator.” Oliver responds walking over to it. We waited for a few minutes while he toyed with things before standing up.
“It looks functional but its out of fuel. Shade, your turn.” He says walking away. I walked up to it and activated zap cannon, the ball of electricity appeared Infront of me and I try to reduce the voltage to some success. I basically tap the generator with it closing my eyes fully expecting it to explode. Seconds past and I open my eyes to nothing. I was about to glare at Oliver before the lights flashed on in a red light.
“Ha, would you look at that. We aren’t dead.” Oliver adds sarcastically.
