“Excuse me,” the resort employee comes in interrupting. “Dr. Kai would like to have a word with the two of you.” Ann and Ben reluctantly stand up and go to the other room where the man is now lying on the bed with his head bandaged.
“Is everything alright doctor?” Ben asks.
“He is fine, stabilized,” Kai says. “He’s a strong one, I’m impressed at how he managed to be alright after such an injury.” Ann lets out a quiet sigh of relief as she looks at the man now lying on the bed.
“Do you happen to know who this man is?” Kai asks.
“No, we don’t,” Ann says as Ben stares at her as she continues. “He just showed up at our door earlier.”
“Well, I’ve done what I could,” Kai says sighing. “I suggest when the rain calms down, we take him to a hospital for a thorough check-up.”
“Thank you, doctor,” Ben says.
“No need to thank me,” Kai says. “Well, I’ll be off now. Do let me know if he needs anything else.” Kai opens the front door and a strong gust of wind enters the cabin.
“Wait, you don’t plan on returning now?” Ben asks.
“I think you should wait here for a while,” Ann adds.
“That would not be necessary,” Kai says. “Besides I love the rain.”
“It’s true,” the resort employee says. “When we found you, you just returned from a walk.”
“In this weather?” Ben asks admiring his courage to walk around at a time like this.

“Some people like the rain and I am one of them,” Kai says with a bright smile on his face. “I’ll see you around.” After the two of them leave, the room becomes silent with Ben and Ann having to make an important decision.
“So, you don’t think we should hand him to the police?” Ben asks.
“Ben,” Ann says now looking concerned. “This man is probably not Nicholas…”
“What if he is?” Ben asks now becoming annoyed. “He at least needs to be investigated. I mean that’s the least we can do, innocent until proven guilty right?”
“I agree, but if this man isn’t Nicholas what would that say about us?” Ann says as Ben stares at her confused at her words. “This man was gravely injured and he came to us for help.”
“He fainted at our doorstep,” Ben says. “I hardly think him that counts as him asking for help.”
“He injured his head. He’s in a really delicate state right now, if something happens to him then it’s on us.”
“What is the matter with you?” Ben says now running out of patience. “Ann I don’t understand this, why are you defending a killer?”
“This again Ben!” Ann says as she raises her voice. “How many times should I explain this to you?”
“Ann, you seriously expect me to believe…,” Ben takes a deep breath as he tries not to yell. “Once this man wakes up, I’ll decide if we should call the cops or not.”
“Nick is innocent,” Ann says under her breath as Ben stands up, tired of hearing the same nonsense.
“Get some rest, it’s late.” Ben leaves Ann and goes to the kitchen to get something to drink. As he pours himself a glass of wine, he stands there contemplating.
‘Ann isn’t completely wrong. This man has just suffered a terrible head injury, if we don’t handle this properly his health would just get worse.’ Ben thinks as he walks around the kitchen.
‘When he wakes up, I’ll ask him who he is,’ Ben thinks as he seems to have a plan in mind. ‘He might not admit to the truth once he sees me but at least that’ll get him to be better.’ Ben then leaves the kitchen and walks to who he thinks is Nicholas’s room. Before he can come in Ben stand at the door and sees Ann sitting on a chair next to the injured man. In a moment all rationally Ben had for this situation had gone out the door as his emotions take over.
“What are you doing here?” Ben asks as he burst into the room.
“He doesn’t have the tattoo,” Ann says as she points to the man’s arm as Ben look at the man. “I knew he wasn’t Nicholas.”
