Ann slaps Nicholas with all the strength she has. Though it didn’t hurt him physically, he was shocked by Ann’s actions.
“I don’t care what you say! You can’t just leave like this. It’s not fair!” Ann cries as her emotions take over completely. “You just can’t tell me you committed such a crime and then just leave! Especially after everything we’ve been through together!” Ann cannot be rational at this time; her words leave Nicholas speechless as he stands before a crying woman. He wants to comfort her desperately, but he worries what his actions would do to her. Everything he did until now has left her like this, and what he does now, will impact her greatly.
“Ann, I’m a killer,” Nicholas says in a small but cold voice, trying to sound as unemotional as possible.
“I know,” Ann says as she tries to calm down. “But you never told me why you killed Scarlet and Gregory. That means you had a reason.” Ann says as she lets out a painful chuckle. "Maybe someone thought they deserved it," Ann says sarcastically. "I have no idea what that means though I want to believe that someone put you up to that. It’s strange, despite everything, I stand here hoping.”
“Ann… I,” Nicholas is interrupted by Ann.
“No, don’t say anything. I don’t know why you suddenly decided to tell me everything or why you allowed me to call my brother. It’s almost like you want to clear Benjamin’s name.” Nicholas is silent as Ann continues. “I don’t know what your hiding from me but, it’s nice to get to know you, I mean, the real you Nicholas. Even if it was for a short time, thank you for being honest…I guess.” Ann is emotionally confused at this moment, a part of her doesn’t want Nicholas to leave and that overshadows his crime in her eyes.
“Ann,” Nicholas says as she abruptly leans forward and kisses him, embracing him tightly. Nicholas is left emotional as his heart begins to race and for the first time in a long time, it wasn’t because he killed someone. Nicholas embraces her and reciprocates the kiss, his feelings cannot be contained as he feels at peace with her. However, as soon as he felt this moment of happiness, a dark wave of emotion takes Nicholas over and he removes himself from her embrace.

“Ann, I can’t stay,” Nicholas whispers as Ann nods her head, accepting his decision as she tears roll down her cheek.
“Bye…”
‘Thank you for making me feel again,’ is what Nicholas wanted to say but couldn’t bring himself to. Ann’s reaction has made Nicholas question a few things, but he decides to keep it to himself.
“I will come see you Ann, someday,” Nicholas says as Ann looks up at him. “I promise.”
Ann smiles knowing Nicholas will keep his word. Nicholas turns around and runs away as Ann turns around and nervously walks back to the cabin still shaking from the whole experience. She is extremely emotional and oddly at peace with how everything has ended. As she reaches the cabin she dares not go inside due to the horrible stench. She stands outside patiently, replaying what happened in her head and about ten minutes later she hears sirens. A few police cars come rushing and pull up outside the cabin where Ann is waiting. Oscar jumps out of the car and runs to her.
“Ann!” Oscar rushes to her side and hugs her thankful she is alive. Ann is happy to see her brother and relieved hugs him. “Are you ok? Did he do anything to you?” Oscar asks concerned as he notices Ann trembling while the other officers go into the cabin.
“We found a body,” One of the officer’s shouts.
Oscar immediately takes Ann away from the crime scene putting her in a police car and driving her to a hospital to ensure she is ok. The officers find the body of Harry; the one Ronnie saw get killed. Dean and Oscar return to the crime scene and look for clues, but can’t find any. Nicholas ensured he left no traces behind, leaving Oscar and Dean with nothing to go on.
After a few hours Oscar goes to check on his sister in the hospital, now sure Nicholas was a serial killer.
“I don’t know,” Ann replies to Oscar’s questions. Oscar doesn’t ask her too much, knowing what she might have gone through. But still, he is furious with what has happened and hates that he couldn’t protect his sister. To Oscar, not noticing Nicholas’s true character is what he considers the biggest mistake of his life. To see his sister in the hospital, seemingly in denial, was the most painful thing to him. Though the doctors confirm she has not been harmed physically, Ann stays in the hospital overnight. One day she is threatened at knife point, the next day she finds out her boyfriend is a killer, that’s a lot to take in. With a help of a few medicines, Ann falls asleep slowly beginning to calm down.
