The Love She Wanted
Lets Find Out

Lets Find Out

“You will?” Ann says looking at Nicholas. He was a proud man who took immense pride in his work. He would never use his connections to find out private information for his personal use. The fact he was willing to pull some strings to help out Ann meant a lot to her. As her eyes grew and her heart raced, he embraced her. “I love you,” Ann says and in a moment she realizes what has slipped out of her mouth. As she tries to move away from his arms but he holds her tight and says.

“I love you too.”

Ann could not stop smiling the next day. She never thought she would be with someone who she loved and who loves her in return. Since day one, Nicholas has been nothing but good to her. And has always proved his affection with actions over words. For the first time in three weeks, she was not thinking about her fight with Oscar. After a few days, Nicholas comes to her with information about Benjamin.

“Alright,” he says ready to tell her everything he knows. “About three weeks ago Benjamin had gone to a store and bought a mustache, wig, and some other items which I am unsure of.”

“What?” Ann says looking confused.

“And for the past two weeks, he’s been going to an abandoned building, in the center of town, right next to the animal sanctuary. Every Tuesday and Thursday, at 4 in the evening,” Nicholas says seemingly finishing his report.

“What is he doing there?” Ann asks becoming concerned.

“That I am not sure,” Nicholas says. “So what now? Should we tell your brother about this?”

“No!” Ann says swiftly getting up. “We are not telling him anything unless we find something.”

“Ann, this is as much information as I can get,” Nicholas says seemingly disappointed with Ann’s unsatisfied reaction.

“Then I think we should see for ourselves,” Ann says.

“What?” Nicholas says sounding shocked at her rash words. “Ann, we don’t know what this guy could be hiding. It could be dangerous.”

“I know,” Ann says looking determined and emotional. Nicholas knows Ann is sensitive about this since it caused her a great deal of pain. As Nicholas lets out a long sigh he says.

“Fine. Let's go check it out this Tuesday,” Nicholas says bringing a smile to Ann’s face. “But don’t go without me.” Ann is happy to have Nicholas with her and is ready to find out the truth. Though impatient, she waits for Tuesday trying to hide her agitation. But Nicholas is able to see her turmoil and has done his best to be her comforter.

On Tuesday, Ann gets off early from her internship and waits at the decided place for Nicholas. Nicholas arrives at the exact time he said he would be there and Ann is ready to follow Benjamin.

“Wait,” Nicholas says. “There is something I have to tell you.” Ann looks at Nicholas who looks a little nervous and wonders what could cause the calm and collective Nicholas to break a sweat.

“I am here.” Oscar says as he runs to the two of them. Ann looks surprised at Nicholas who nods at her.

“Thanks for being here,” Nicholas says.

“I had to be,” Oscar replies as he looks at Ann briefly. “Hi, Ann.” Oscar says.

“Oz…” Ann replies as the tension in the air builds.

“Why did you call me here?” Oscar asks as he turns to Nicholas.

“I believe, Mr. Benjamin MacLerie is up to something suspicious. And we are here to follow him and find out what,” as Nicholas explains he is cut off by Oscar.

“What? Why involve my sister in this?” Oscar asks.

“He didn’t involve me, I involved him,” Ann replies.

“But why would you put yourself in something so,” Oscar’s words are shushed by Nicholas as they see Benjamin. Benjamin looks around almost as if he is making sure he is not being followed. “Ann, leave this to me,” Oscar says as he puts his hand on the gun he is carrying.

“What?” Nicholas looks at him in shock at his overreaction. And at that very moment, he completely understood Ann’s frustration with her over protective brother. “We want to find out what he’s up to not scare him off.”

“Put that away idiot,” Ann says as Oscar reluctantly let’s go of the gun. He knows his sister’s stubbornness and there is no changing her mind. He decides to keep her safe and follow Benjamin. The three of them patiently follow Benjamin with Nicholas leading. They follow him to the abandoned building and sees him going into a room. After fifteen minutes of waiting and no sign of Benjamin coming out, they hear a burst of loud laughter.

“The time has come! The time has come!”
