“You have done enough,” Nicholas says as Benjamin looks at him speechless.
“You hurt Ann many times and though she is ready to forgive you, I on the other hand, am not. You watched your sister cry as you threw her boyfriend out, destroying her chances at love, which you of all people know are very slim. She would never trust another man again and that is all because of you,” Benjamin stares at Nicholas clenching his stomach.
“I…I just,” Benjamin tries to explain being confronted with his behavior.
“What?” Nicholas says. “It doesn’t matter. You have no right to behave the way you do just because you are hurting cause newsflash, in many ways, we all are hurt.” Nicholas turns around and leaves with these words.
Benjamin is left there alone and though defensive at first cannot help but consider his words. With the explanation Oscar gave, Benjamin understands why he is considered a suspect in his ex-wife’s murder. It was true that asking Ann for forgiveness did not cross his mind. Even when he yelled at her a few days ago, he never thought he should apologize, despite seeing her shaken. He also thinks about his sister Fiona, all these months she seemed happy. Even before she admitted to being with someone Benjamin did notice a change in her. Benjamin never knew why she was always skeptical about dating, but finally hearing she was with someone made him happy for her. And now, he has to return home, to remember how he was responsible for breaking his sister's heart. As much as he hates to admit it, Oscar did make his sister happy and though he didn’t get along with him, he has seen his behavior with Ann and can rightfully conclude, he is a good guy.
That evening, as Fiona was taking a walk around town, she bumps into Ann.
“What are you doing here?” Fiona asks skeptically and on guard.

She notices Ann carrying something in a bag and takes a moment to think.
“I’m sorry,” Fiona says. “Can we talk?”
Without much to say Ann nods and invites her back to her place. As skeptical as she is, Fiona knows she did her wrong and wanted to apologize properly.
“Here we are,” Ann says as she opens her apartment door after what she considers a long awkward walk back to her place. Though they didn’t talk much, there was a growing tension. After offering her some coffee, Ann sits next to her and the two women begin to talk.
“You have a nice place,” Fiona says looking around.
“It is,” Ann replies. “Oscar doesn’t visit much if that’s what your worried about.” Not wanting to waste any time, Ann is upset about the way Fiona treated her brother.
“I know you think he’s right, and I understand that,” Fiona says letting out a sigh. “And though I understand his reasons as well, he still hurt Ben.”
“And you hurt Oscar,” Ann says in a soft stern voice. “Oscar is a good guy. And to be fair he did explain why Benjamin was a suspect. Maybe if you talk to him he can explain further.”
“I have,” Fiona says interrupting Ann. “He explained everything and I understand. But don’t you think he was too much.”
“He was,” Ann agrees as she takes a sip of coffee.
“Even you agree he was wrong at some point,” Fiona says letting out a small chuckle. “I can’t imagine.”
“What?” Ann says looking at Fiona directly. “That he’s human? He makes mistakes?”
“That’s not what I meant,” Fiona says while Ann hides her troubled emotions growing in her heart. “You are a psychologist. You know what Ben’s going through. He doesn’t deserve to be treated that way.”
“I agree,” Ann says.
“So then what’s wrong with saying that?” Fiona says trying to defend her words. “He did ill-treat my brother and that is good enough reason to never see him again.”
“Benjamin hurt me too you know,” Ann says silencing Fiona. “I think it’s obvious I am not the best with confrontation, many situations make me anxious. Ben knew that but still he.”
“You can’t be serious!” Fiona says sounding irritated. “That’s different. He made a mistake and acted out.”
“Actually its different because he’s your brother,” Ann says silencing Fiona. “The same way Oscar is my brother and I care about him.” After a small pause Fiona says.
“I don’t want to be with Oscar anymore.”
