The Love She Wanted
Is He Innocent?

Is He Innocent?

Benjamin, Oscar, Ann, and Nicholas race to the hospital. Gregory Morgan has been in a coma since the night Scarlet was kidnapped. His waking up would give the police a proper story as to what happened that night. Benjamin grows impatient hoping to find out exactly what happened to his ex-wife. He also hopes Gregory’s story will prove his innocence once and for all, but that was not his main concern. At the hospital, Dean and Maria are waiting for them.

“What is he doing here?” Maria asks spitefully as she looks at Benjamin.

“What is she doing here?” Oscar asks.

“She was at the station again when I got the call from the hospital. And she just followed,” Dean says annoyed.

“Ma’am, would you please let us do our job,” Oscar says. Maria comes to the station almost every other day trying to find her sister's killer. Despite her good intentions, she has proven to be nothing more of a nuisance to the investigating officers. Oscar and Dean even sneak off trying to avoid her.

“Why is he here?” Maria shouts.

“Please,” a nurse says as she approaches them. “This is a hospital. Please be quite!”

Dean talks to the nurse who takes them to Gregory’s room. As everyone waits outside, Dean and Oscar are the only ones who are allowed in. Gregory lies in bed barely conscious looking horribly battered.

“Mr. Morgan,” Oscar says as Gregory opens his swollen eyes and looks at them. “I am detective Smith. This is my partner. I would like to ask you a few question.” Oscar says softly as Gregory lightly nods and says softly.

“Yes.”

“Could you tell us,” just as Oscar is about to finish his question a growing sound of an argument is heard from the hallway, and in a moment Maria bursts in along with Benjamin.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

“Tell us Greg. He did this to you, didn’t he? Ben is responsible for this,” Maria says as she leans over Gregory.

“You are not allowed here,” Oscar says as Dean tries removing her.

“Just say one word and it’ll be ok,” Maria says. “Tell them Ben did it!” Maria says frantically.

“No,” Gregory says in a small voice. “Not, Ben,” The room grows silent at his words. Benjamin looks relieved and Maria looks distraught as the detectives look at Gregory and then at Benjamin. Just then Gregory closes his eyes and the monitor starts beeping and a nurse comes running in.

“What did you do?” the nurse says. “Get out! Everyone leave,” she says as a bunch of doctors arrive and tend to Gregory. As everyone leaves the room, Benjamin lets out a smile and Maria stares at him angrily.

“This doesn’t prove anything,” Maria says.

“Ma’am if you get involved with this one more time I will have you arrested for obstruction of justice!” Dean says firmly and with these words Maria understood she should be careful from now on. She stares angrily at Benjamin and storms off.

“I believe I owe you an apology,” Oscar says not making eye contact.

“It's fine,” Ben says half heatedly as he stretches out his hand. Oscar then shakes his hand and notices the name ‘Scarlet’.

“You have her name tattooed on your arm?” Oscar asks.

“Yes,” Ben replies coldly.

“In a heart,” Oscar says noticing the heart tattoo drawn around her name. He lets go and asks. “Where’s Ann?”

“Nick took Ann to the cafeteria,” Benjamin replies. “I guess I better get going,” he says as he turns around and leaves. Oscar and Dean speak to the doctors about Gregory, they inform him that Gregory is in a delicate condition at the moment and its better for them to try and talk to him tomorrow. They decide to let him rest until he is in a condition to talk. Oscar then visits Ann and Nick and informs them on the current situation. Ann is happy to find out Gregory admitted that Benjamin was innocent. They soon leave and go home, Nicholas lets Ann rest as he drops her off at her apartment. She goes to bed that night completely relaxed and ready for a good night’s sleep.

The next day early in the morning Oscar gets a call from the hospital. He rushes to the hospital in haste not only to find out Gregory had died the previous night, but he had been murdered. One of the nurses said she saw someone, who she assumed was a doctor coming out of his room. As she went to check on him she found him with his throat slit. She tries to save him, even called others but ultimately they were unsuccessful. But before he died he said something, and what the nurse believes he said was.
