Honest Understanding

Honest Understanding

“You think we kissed?” Tom says surprising everyone. Oscar jolts up from the bed and opens the door slowly, looking at Fiona and Tom as they continue talking.

“Didn’t…we?” Fiona asks.

“No,” Tom says. “You wanted to kiss me thinking I was Oscar but as you leaned in you threw up on me.”

Fiona, Oscar, and Benjamin let out a sigh of relief as a smile comes across Oscar and Fiona’s faces. “I’m glad you throwing up on me makes you so happy,” Tom says sarcastically as Fiona laughs.

“No, I just thought I would havr hurt Oscar,” Fiona says letting out a chuckle, sounding relieved.

“You really like that one, don’t you?” Tom says hiding his broken heart as Fiona nods her head.

“But I have been so horrible to him. I accused him of trying to frame my brother without giving him a chance. And now I tried kissing you, I don’t know if he’ll,” as Fiona says these words Benjamin abruptly opens the door.

“Yes, he will,” Benjamin says revealing himself and Oscar standing in her room. Fiona and Tom are shocked to see the over enthusiastic Benjamin, standing in front of the now embarrassed Oscar.

“Ben, what are you doing here? And is that Oscar?” Fiona says looking utterly surprised.

“Yes, Fiona. Oscar is here to speak to you,” Benjamin says as he brings Fiona close to Oscar as the two of them look at each other silently. Following a moment of silence, they turn and looks at Tom and Benjamin who are staring at them.

“I think we should go,” Tom says as he takes Benjamin and they leave the apartment. Fiona and Oscar look at each other unable to find the words.

“Oscar, I…,” as Fiona tries to explain to Oscar he steps forward and interrupts her.

“I heard,” Oscar says leaving Fiona speechless. “I’m sorry.”

“No,” Fiona replies. “You were only doing your job,”

“I was horrible to Ben you know. You had every right to get angry,” Oscar admits as Fiona looks at him.

“He cried when he found out Scarlet was dead.,” Fiona replies as she lets out a sigh. “I know Ben’s innocent. And I also know it’s your job to investigate.”

“Fiona,” Oscar is interrupted by Fiona.

“Let me finish,” Fiona says abruptly. “I know Ben will be proven innocent at the end of this. I should have known you wouldn’t suspect him for no reason. I overreacted.”

“No Ruby,” Oscar says sighing as he comes closer to her. “I don’t blame you for reacting that way, I know how sensitive you are about relationships and in that situation.”

“No! This was my fault, I even tried kissing someone else,” Fiona says.

“You thought it was me. And that wouldn’t have happened if…”

As this back and forth continues between them, the two of them pause for a moment and let out a laugh. The two of them look at each other realizing not only how sorry they are but also how much they care about each other. Not wasting another moment, they embrace, as their hearts race finally ready to let go of everything and focus on them.

“I missed you,” Fiona says.

Oscar leans in lovingly and whispers in Fiona’s ear “I love you.”

Fiona slowly let’s go of his embrace and looks at him. His eyes looks at her lovingly, as she feels the confidence in his words. She knows he means it and she is sure of how she feels about him.

“I love you too.”

With a happy smile on his face they embrace again, Oscar leans in to kiss her but she holds his face. Oscar looks confused and Fiona says, “Just wanted to make sure it’s you this time.”

As the two of them let out a laugh, they spend the rest of the afternoon in each other’s arms.

Benjamin is now leaving the building, knowing his sister is in good hands. Tom and Benjamin talk for a while before going their separate ways, Benjamin is now oddly relieved with what he has done. Tom on the other hand, though slightly hurt, is happy to know Fiona can now be with the man she loves.

Ann is happy as ever, with Nicholas now making more time for Ann. It seems strange to Ann, but Nicholas seems to be cherishing every moment they spend together. That day, Ann insists on going out for coffee and they go to a café.

“So what the occasion?” Nicholas asks sarcastically.

“Nothing special,” Ann says as she gives out a mischievous smile.

“What are you planning?” Nicholas asks suspecting Ann is up to something.

“Ok I admit, I do have something else in mind,” Ann admits as Nicholas smiles. Just then there is someone standing at the door as Ann waves. Nicholas looks back and is surprised at who she invited to join them.
