As she finally rested on her bed, I assumed she would probably sleep, instead, all I could hear were her muffled tears.
I jumped off her shoulders before resizing next to the bed. “Nat,” I called out.
I noticed her flinch for a moment before I saw a gun on my forehead.
Her teary eyes widened in shock seeing it was me as her face turned red. “I told you to stay away!” She shouted at me in anger as she moved her gun away.
“I came to return something before I left,” I said as I gave her back the necklace.
“I don’t want it. Go away!” She yelled at me.
“And do what?” I yelled back.
She was startled seeing me angry for the first time in our relationship. I had never lashed out against her before.
She was silent for a moment before she answered calmly. “You will find someone better than me, David. We were never meant to be together.”
“Stop what you are thinking right now!” I shouted but she didn't care I was raising my voice.
“Why did you agree to marry me?” She asked me despite what I just told her.
“No stop! I never regretted meeting you, dating you or marrying you. Meeting you was the best coincidence the universe threw at me for which I am indebted forever. It is the only reason I would ever bother to save the world.” I walked forward to hold her and assure her, but she moved back in bed.
Seeing this I stopped as we remained silent.
“What would you have done, if you hadn’t met me?” Natasha asked me after a while.
“I would have become a cold-hearted person on the path of seeking more and more power while ignoring everything else,” I told her without the time to even think.
“No, you wouldn’t! You always had the heart in you to save Bruce, save Tony and save the world! You would have lived a more happy life than with me in it!” Nat tried to correct me, as she curled up with her back against the wall.
“No, I wouldn’t Nat. I had saved Bruce for a reason and it was for his power and he knows it as well. I saved Tony for a reason and it was for money, relations and I made that clear to him.” I told her as I watched helplessly at her dipping her head into her knees.
“You are lying. You told Tony that the only reason you ask for money is that you don’t want to involve yourself in the present and that it is the price you ask to change the future.” Natasha stated without even looking up.

“That was before I met my teacher!” I shouted at her feeling even more frustrated at seeing how she was seeing herself as worthless thanks to my rotten grandparents.
I swore if I lost Nat today, then they would see a fate worse than death, family or not. Seeing Nat quiet and still, I decided to explain myself.
“I didn’t know about my power to stop all seers until I slaughtered the red room after the meeting with Thor in the Mexico desert. I met my teacher after that, and she informed me of my ability then.” I tried to stay as calm as possible while tears just walked down my cheeks.
“Before I met you I had only one goal and it was power and survival. Power to survive the dangers I knew that was about to come down on this planet and universe, and the meaningless instinct of survival no matter the cost."
I knelt before the bed to at least see her eyes that were hidden from my sight by her hands that were hugging her knees.
"In my conquest to survive the future, I would have disregarded everything including the lives of many."
"When I took the lives of those men in Afghanistan to rescue Tony, or when those Hydra barged in, I wouldn't even have bothered accounting for their lives if not for you."
"You changed me! You made me see that there was more to life than power and just some instinct. That power could be used to protect those you love. That there is more to life than simple survival. There is happiness, tears, joy, pain and everything with you."
"Only you taught me the value and sanctity of life." I waited and waited, only to get no response from her.
"And don’t say any woman could have done that, because no woman other than you could have done that and I know that because there is no better person other than me, who understands me better than myself."
"You and I are the perfect equivalents decided by the universe. Even the universe wanted us to be together. If not explain our coincidental meetings twice before you came into my life?” I didn't like her to think of herself as worthless and replaceable in our life.
“Nat if you leave me then I won’t know what will happen to me. But one thing is for sure and it is that I will kill those two for taking you apart from me. After that, I don’t know what will happen to me." I promised before her.
I tiredly placed the side of my head on the bed as I watched her. "Please don’t leave me, Nat. I need you and I know you need me as well. I will be lost without you.”
Hearing this Nat lifted her head and looked at me with her puffy eyes. She got up from the bed, while I just stayed where I sat.
I decided I would not follow her and go meddle into her life if she wanted to leave me, but I would always wait for her, even if it took all eternity.
I felt her beside me before her warm hands embraced me from behind while she sat behind me. Her head leaning on my back I could feel her tears on my shirt. “You stupid, stupid husband. If you keep loving me like this, when will I give it all back?”
At this question, we both broke down. I turned around and hugged her close to my chest. Kissing the top of her head we relished in our tearfully happy embrace.
A while passed as our tears passed and we just sat there, not speaking or moving. “I am sorry for making you worried.” She apologised.
“For better or for worse…” I said part of our marriage vows.
“…till death do us apart.” Natasha finished the remaining words.
I looked up to her to see her smiling on her tear-stained face. I leaned in to kiss her.
Our lips just relished on the taste of each others presence, before we came apart. Nat leaned on my chest once more, while I leaned on top of her head. "Don't let go of me." Her hands tightly gripped my collar.
I pulled her as close to me as possible. "Come and drag me back to you, if I do." I replied as we tiredly fell asleep leaning onto the bed frame.
