Episode 8- New Beginnings

I also made sure to eat a lot, like a lot. All the other kids started giving me part of their vegetables after seeing I liked vegetables. However, the condition was to give me a part of their meat as well like a ¼ of their chicken or sausage etc.

The kids didn't care about that and simply just gave me their vegetables on their plate along with a part of their meat which I simply ate.

Due to this, I always had plenty to eat in for both meat and vegetables.

Of course, I made my gift eat the vegetable for me as I had grown sick of vegetables by this point but only ate it for the nutrients and to keep my stomach full.

When school started once more, I was now in year 4. It was the year 1992.

My flute teacher was enthusiastic to start my grade 6 exam. However, she didn't want to push me and told me to do it for March instead of October, to which I agreed. We kept practising with our flutes and by the start of February, she was confident I could pass my grade 6 exam.

Lessons went as per normal so did life.

By March I did my grade 6 exam and after 2 weeks came to know I passed it with distinction once more.

After that, I got ready to take my grade 7 flute exam. However, after practising for the exam my teacher told me it would be wise to take it before Christmas at the start of the next academic year.

I nodded at this and started practising for Grade 7 with my teacher.

My end of year test was easy as always. Whizzed through them like a tornado. At this point, almost all kids preferred to sit by me so that I could help them out. I was also casual in school and played like a normal kid with them which made me pretty popular amongst them.

Before the school broke up for summer holidays, my flute teacher gave me the things I needed to practise over the summer.

Most of my free time was indeed spent practising for my grade 7 exam. After all, I only had limited stamina to exercise a day but that wasn't the case for practising the flute. For exercising, I just increased my reps by a lot.

New academic year arrived, and I was in year 5 now and it was 1993.

As soon as I was back my music teacher was ecstatic at my progress, thanks to my ability to practise like a mindless bot correctly. She suggested I could take my grade 7 before October if I wanted to.

And without any hesitation, I agreed.

I took my grade 7 exam and wonderfully passed it with distinction.

Next was the grade 8 exam, even my teacher was stressed about it. So, we both decided to practise for the whole year including my summer and take it next year when I would be in year 6.

Things were slowly getting serious in school as I was in year 5. Although I felt really sleepy during most lessons and got my bot to attend most of my lessons for me.

About 1 month before Christmas, a life-changing event happened to me.

1993, November 15.

I was told if I wanted, I could be adopted by a couple called Henswick.

I didn't know if I wanted to be adopted or not. I had all the freedom I could have by being here. I didn't know how much that would change if I was adopted.

Not to mention those 2 parents are looking for a child, not an adult like me in a kids body who for most of the time just procrastinates and lets his body be control by his ability.

"David no one is forcing you. Why don't you see them and see how it goes?" Ms Connie asked me.

"Ok Ms Connie." I nodded with worry.

The Henswick came to see me 2 days later right after school.

They were a couple in their late 30's. As soon as I saw them, I only had 1 word. Posh. Both of the couples look as worried as I was. Guess it was their first time along with mine doing this meeting.

The woman squatted before me to greet me. "Hi, I am Julie Henswick. Nice to meet you." She said as she gave me a big bar of Dairy milk chocolate.

"Umm hi. I am David Cox. Thank you for the chocolate." I greeted back with a smile.

"Hi David, I am Rob Henswick." The man too knelt before me and greeted me.

"Hi, Rob." I smiled back.

"He is so sweet." The man said to Ms Connie who smiled back.

"David, would you like to come with us for a walk?" Julie asked me, to which I nodded.

"What time do we have to bring him back?" Julie asked Ms Connie after getting my approval.

"Just before 8 pm is alright." Ms Connie told us.

They nodded and took me out.

"So, David what do you do in your free time?" Mr Rob asked me.

"I play the flute. I am about to do my grade 8 flute exam." I said proudly just like a kid would.

"Wow, you must be a real genius." Mr Rob chuckled, while I slightly blushed.

However, something in his words and Julie's expression told me they already knew that.

"What do you do Mr Rob?" I asked him.

"Oh, I draw buildings and stuff for a big company." Mr Rob tried to simplify his job for me. So an architect.

"What about you Ms Julie?"

"I make clothes, David, like the one I am wearing right now." She smiled. A fashion designer?

We spent the rest of the day walking around the area and grabbing something to eat from a nearby restaurant before they dropped me back at home before 8 pm.

"It was nice seeing you, David," Rob said as patted my head.

"Would you like to see us again, David?" Ms Julie asked in front of Ms Connie.

"Yeah sure," I really enjoyed walking with them and replied on the spur of the moment.

This went on for a few months before Rob and Julie decided to adopt me. Although I was still suspicious about how both of them knew about my flute talent I accepted because I had grown fond of them over the months.

Hydra or other agencies don't want musical genius'. What they wanted was other kinds of genius people that were good at science or programming or fighting. That was the only reason I was confident, Rob and Julie weren't suspicious people.

The only conclusion I could come at was that someone from my flute examination site probably was related to them and told them about me. Being posh and all they might have naturally wanted the best maybe.

Everyone in the care home was sad to see me go.

I was sad as well, especially from not seeing, Tom, Ms Connor and Ms Della.

I had grown fond of them over time.

However, the only good thing was because the Henswick lived not far away I could still go to the same primary school. This meant I could still visit them and see them whenever I wanted.

It was a 15-minute drive from the care home to reach their house. Just from the look of the house, I could tell they were well off or possibly even rich.

The house was massive and looked very exquisite.

I was given a very big ensuite room of my own upstairs decorated with all sorts of books.

I had told them that I loved reading books to learn new words and that must have been the reason why they stuffed a shelf full of books in my room, all in alphabetical order of the author's name.

They had a massive garden almost 30 meters long and 10 meters wide in their back, beautifully trimmed with a small fountain in the middle.

Thus, started my new life in the rich house with my new parents.
