"Hi." The person in a black formal attire in front of me greeted.
"Where am I? Who are you? Am I …dead?" I asked in panic while looking around.
The last thing I remembered was something smacking on the top of my head. Now I am here standing in front of this mysterious person who greeted me.
"Let me jog your memory a little." The person in front of me smiled. {Read for free in Royal Road}
Then a screen popped up in front of me.
In it, I spotted myself walking in the busy town that has become quiet due to the COVID-19 restrictions. As I walked past an apartment suddenly time froze and started moving back and focusing on 2 couples on the 9th floor of that apartment. The couple were arguing. Apparently, the woman had been cheating on the man.
The man revealed it to her with evidence and asked her to get out while recording the whole event with his phone on Facebook making it live. In her rage, the woman started throwing things at the man acting as if she was right and he was accusing her of something wrong.
However, as she threw a metal pot at him which he accurately evaded while warning her of taking a lawsuit against her for physical assault. The pot she threw which the man evades flew through the window and came crashing down on my head, who was innocently walking past the apartment.
After a while screams and the sound of sirens resounded throughout the street.
The woman walked out after cursing the man.
The man curious about what was going on looked down to see his pot and me lying in my pool of blood.
The man was shocked and terrified by the scene.
The woman got out of the apartment to see the body before her and the pot. Realising what she had done, she quickly framed the man to the police in her anger.
The police quickly came up to the man's room with the woman to arrest him.
However, the man calmly explained to the police what happened from his point of side and provided the live recorded evidence much to the shock and anger of the woman.
The woman was given a 10 years sentence to prison along with no bail for manslaughter and trying to frame the incident upon an innocent person. {Read for free in Royal Road}
"Karma, bitch!" I cursed seeing the sheer audacity of that woman.

"Hahaha! Indeed." The man laughed.
"What happened to the man?" I asked in curiosity.
"Well it took a while, but he got over that dark period of his life. It took him a while to meet another woman and live with their own family struggles and happiness." The man explained.
"That is good." I nodded as I suddenly remembered about the part that I died.
"So, I died," I stated with a sigh, being all too calm about my death.
"Yeah, you did. And no, you are not special or anything. Everyone who dies and in their soul form is calm about it." The man in front of me explained.
"Oh. Well, that was a bummer." I said to the person in front of me who could most likely be God.
That was kind of a letdown. After all, I was a normal average person in my life. Going to and from work while in my late 20's. Occasionally reading was my hobby. Other than that, there was nothing special about me. I had hoped I would be special somehow.
Oh well, who cares!
"Hi, I am El." The person in black extended his hand for a greeting which I took without any form of wariness.
"You are special in the aspect that I chose you randomly from the billions of souls passing through their judgement," El explained as he took his hand back.
"That isn't helping my self-esteem in any way," I said back.
"So, are you God?" I asked.
"Hahaha, no! Although he can look like anyone he wants and often pranks few of us in heaven I am not him." El stated.
"Then…?" I looked at him.
"Merely a gatekeeper forced to sit here as part of my punishment with my partner who is gone for her 100 years break," El explained. {Read for free in Royal Road}
"Oh." I had so many questions running through my head.
"Anyway, I won't bother you with them. I will get straight to the point. Osborn, would you like to partake in my entertainment?" El asked.
"Sure…?" I answered/ asked.
"Great! Off you go!" El smiled before snapping his finger.
I felt something pulling me before it was dark and then I felt the pulling force and was once more in a room.
I then felt memories filling my head gently about who and where I was.
I was in U.K. 1990 being only 6 years old, being an orphaned child, I was sent to a children's residential care home where few other children other than me stayed.
I was no one significant so far in this world or had any noteworthy feature other than being a nerd who loves to collect action figures of my heroes, namely a certain captain from world war 2.
Wait…What!!!!??
'Yo, hope you enjoyed the new body I have given you. I just created that body and placed it in that world with altering memories and forging identities for you.
As you have guessed you are in marvel world. Which one is a secret and surprise, so find it out yourself. Good luck.' A message appeared in my head.
My hands started shivering along with my leg while my heart started rapidly beating with sweat pouring out of me. I was scared shitless.
I wasn't going to survive in this world and might die painfully if I was unfortunate enough.
I didn't want that! I don't want to die even though I had already died.{Read for free in Royal Road}
Suddenly a thought passed through my head.
'Wait wouldn't I just go back to that dude if I died?' As soon as this thought entered my head, procrastination that I had dug deep in my mind crawled out to calm me.
'Meh who cares. If I die, I die.' Such was the dangers of procrastination.
However, another piece of message came to my head.
'Yo, since you have calmed down let me tell you about certain gifts, I have given you for this journey of yours.' El said.
This piece of the message made me excited.
