Episode 74- Invitations

3 weeks later we arrived back at our house in New York after having a wild adventure through the seas of the world in my submarine/ yacht.

“Uhh.. sunlight.” Natasha groaned as she went out to check her garden after leaving everything not maintained at all for the past 2 months.

*Whizz* I closed the portal behind me as I walked towards Nat.

I hugged her from behind as we looked at the overgrown grass and shrubs in her garden. “I strangely miss being under the sea.”

Nat stated as I used her shadow as a shade from the sun. “We can always go there whenever you want.”

Nat nodded. “You know you should have really saved up the underwater exploration for our honeymoon. It would have been better.”

I chuckled. “Leave the honeymoon planning to me. I have been planning our honeymoon since the moment you asked me to marry you.”

Nat nodded with a smile before she pulled my arms away from her waist. “Before the honeymoon, we actually need to get married first, and before getting married we need to plan for our marriage.”

“Sure, leave the house and garden to me. I will get all of that sorted out. You just worry about planning the wedding of your dreams.”

Nat nodded before she asked me. “Does it have to be in England?”

I looked at her in confusion. “Why?”

“Clint doesn’t like moving Laura and kids around much, as it opens them to more danger.”

I shook my head. “Don’t worry, I have a way to make dad love to come here under his own money.”

Nat grinned as she deduced what I had in mind. “You are going to invite Rogers just to make your dad come here?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “Some call me ruthless and logical, but my fiancé calls me a genius.”

She pinched my cheeks. “Bad boy.”

I suddenly remembered something causing me to facepalm. “Oh crap!”

Nat looked at me worried. “What?”

I smiled awkwardly towards Nat. “I didn’t really leave a good impression with Clint the last time he saw me.”

Nat sighed as she looked at me. “What did you inject in him? He was complaining about remembering the horrible pain till the last time I spoke to him.”

I smiled apologetically. “That was intended to knock out Thor should he have refused to give me his blood after I helped him.”

Nat looked at me in surprise. “Blood?”

“I needed it to study the Asgardian biology.”

She looked at me in concern as she heard that. “I won’t ask you why, just don’t do anything stupid.”

I nodded. “I won’t. I am the most paranoid person in the world, and you can be assured I won’t do anything crazy.”

She nodded as she kissed my cheek. “I will talk to Clint then we can go visit them.”

I looked at Nat in surprise. “Are we going right now?”

“Delaying is never good David. The sooner we get through this the more good memories we can have instead of pointless worries.”

I sighed hearing that. The nanobots making up my watch left my hand and flew out into the garden and the house just as Nat called him Bart.

Just as she hung up the calls the bots came back having finished cleaning up. *Whizz* I opened a small portal for the spare bots to go in while the rest assimilated into my watch. “Ready?”

“Just a moment.”

Nat watched as I took a serum out of the portal I just opened. *Whizz* The portal closed as another one opened. “What is that?”

She asked seeing the serum in my hand. “Something Bruce made when he was bored when we were all together.”

Nat looked at the serum in my hand in interest as we walked through the portal. *Whizz* The portal closed down as we were new few hundred meters away from Bart’s residence. “What does it do?”

“Well, this was supposed to be something that stopped Bruce’s heart rate from rising too much by inducing an extreme mental state of bliss.”

Nat looked at the serum in shock. “So basically, high purity drugs.”

I wanted to argue it was not a drug but she kind of had a valid point.

She looked at me as if I was planning something evil. “Care to explain why you have brought drugs to a house where there are kids running about.”

I chuckled seeing her inquisitive stare. “Nothing nefarious. I just thought to give this to Bart. So, whenever he thinks about…”

“Stop!”

Nat interrupted me as she stopped walking. “Put that thing back and just come with me.”

“But…”

“No buts. You are supposed to talk these kinds of things out not replace pain and wounds with bliss and drugs.”

I sighed as I opened a portal and threw the serum in. “Fine.”

She smiled seeing my pouting face. She hugged me before kissing me on my cheek. “I know you are a genius who has a solution for everything, but sometimes it’s better to talk things out.”

I nodded with a smile as I caressed her head. “You really are perfect for me.”

*Ahem* “Can you both stop being so cheesy when we go inside?”

We turned around to see Bart walking towards us with a bow and quiver in his back. He smiled as he saw us, although that smile faltered for a moment when he saw me. “Hi Bart, sorry for last time.”

He nodded seriously. “Next time I won’t miss if you make her cry again.”

I nodded back with a smile. “Good, since we got that clear let’s go in. Laura is excited to see you both.”

I sighed in relief seeing how quickly everything was over. “Wasn’t that bad was it?”

Nat asked me to which I nodded causing Clint to look at us in question. “That is why you should trust the power of words and relation than just using your inventions.”

Seeing Clint’s curious state, I smiled at him. “I was planning on giving you something to forget the pain, but Nat told me to just talk it out.”

His lips twitched as he heard that. “Don’t remind me or I will seriously punch you in the face. Whatever you gave me makes the bite of fire ants seems like a gentle poke.”

I looked at Nat innocently. “Fine, you can give it.”

I smiled as a small portal opened behind me out of which a serum came out. Hearing the sound of the portal closing Bart turned around only to see the serum floating to my hand. “Here you go, you can just drink it to make it feel better.”

I extended my arm towards him. He glanced at the serum before at Nat who nodded. *Sigh* He reached for it with a sigh.

[A few weeks later]

We had sorted out everything for our wedding by now and was just deciding on the guest list.

“Tinsley?”

Nat asked me to which I typed the name on the hologram, only for it to return with a red word. [Denied] I shook my head like I have been doing the last few minutes.“Nope!”

My only job at this time was to stop her from inviting any Hydra members. “Why not Tinsley? I have known her and worked with her for a long time. I can trust her.”

I smiled sadly hearing the question for the nth time. I sighed as I decided to just answer her rather than avoid the question. “I will tell you the reason why after our marriage as I want only my wife to be the keeper of my secrets.”

She pinched my nose and moved my head from side to side. “Stop buttering me up with your terrible flirting skills.”

I chuckled as I nodded. “All I can tell is that you will understand in roughly 2 years’ time, and you will be glad to not have invited her to our wedding.”

She looked at me in shock. “That bad?”

*Whizz* Just as I was about to nod a red ball smacked onto my head from the portal that just opened up. “Ow!”

I rubbed my head as I opened a portal back to Kamar Taj on the path the ball had taken causing Nat to look at the interaction in interest. “That was my signal to shut up.”

She watched as both the portals closed. Nat asked me. “Who was that?”

“My teacher/ organisation head, telling me to shut up before I do further damage by telling you.”

Nat looked slightly hurt by that. “You are really taking this the wrong way Nat, it’s not that she or I don’t trust you, it’s just that the moment I tell you something; your behaviour towards those people will definitely change and they will notice it, especially with you living with me. My teacher doesn’t want that happening and in a way, I desperately don’t want that happening.”

Nat looked at me in concern. “This is why I said I will tell you why after the wedding. You are already beginning to get worried about pointless things.”

I flicked her nose causing her to rub it with a smile. “Ow…”

I smiled seeing her reaction as I rubbed her head. “I want you to just relax and enjoy our wedding planning, as this will be once in a lifetime opportunity, okay?”

“Fine.”

I smiled seeing her go through her contact. “Dwain?”

I typed the name into the hologram only for it to come back with. [Denied]

My eyebrows twitched seeing how the majority of the people she knew in Shield were Hydra members. “Can I at least mark their names on my phone?”

Nat asked me to which I replied. “Nope!”

She sighed as she went to the next name on the list.
