Episode 111-The calm before the Storm

As we were lying in bed with Nat on my chest my phone beeped. Grabbing it I played the message from my A.I.

“Congratulations both of you will be expecting another baby in 9 to 10 months.” My A.I announced.

“Oh no!” Natasha suddenly buried her face in my chest in embarrassment halting my face of joy.

“What happened?” I asked her in confusion I stroked her head.

“David make sure our child never finds out that they were conceived because we had sex in changing room.” She said with a red face to which I laughed.

“Hahaha!” I kissed her head.

“I am pretty sure this was from us having sex last week in the avengers building.” I told her to which she sighed in relief.

“Is it?” She asked my A.I.

“Affirmative.” My A.I replied.

“See.” I stroked her head as she calmed down.

“Phew. Otherwise, I would have been reminded of the changing room event for the rest of my life whenever I saw our 2nd child.” She sighed in relief and replaced her sigh with happiness.

Shu hugged me tightly and squealed. “We are having another child.”

I hugged her back tightly as well. “I promised you didn’t I.” I smiled to see her happy once more.

Few days had passed.

Our parents and friends were happy for us once more.

However, there was a tiny problem now. “Jack I am going to ban internet for you for the next 1 week other than for educational purpose.” I spoke to him as me, Jack and dad were hanging out in the garden.

“What? Why? All I did was tell grandad and grandma about you are having another baby.” He was worried after all losing access to porn and social media is a devastating blow for him.

“Precisely why I am taking away your access.” I said with my deadpan face.

“Why do you hate them so much?” Jack asked me in worry.

“I used to remember that you used to be their favourite. But after Sasha arrived you never even went to see them much less talk to them.” Jack stated.

“Jack…” Dad began however Jack didn’t stop.

“They are family as well David. You need to talk to them as well.

They want to see their great-grandkids as well. Whenever I go see them they grandma cries and talks about how you never call them.” Dad had a worried look in his eyes while I sighed. Seems like they are trying to brainwash him.

“Why are you all avoiding them? What did they do? All they did was tell you off like mum and dad did when they found Natasha and you were superheroes.” Jack asked me and dad.

“Jack that is enough.” Dad said calmly while I listened quietly. I quickly looked around to notice Nat, mum and Sasha were not around us.

“No dad that is not enough. I need to know what is going on. You and mum both told off Natasha and David just like they did, but they are speaking to you and visiting you. But why are they not even allowrf to visit Sasha when they did the same thing as you?” Jack asked as slight bit of anger crept on his face.

Dad was about to say something in anger but before he could I spoke up. “Do you know why we never talk about dad’s family?” I asked him.

“David…” Dad began but I shook my head at him.

“Dad he is old enough and needs to know.” I looked at my dad seeing his worried look.

Jack shook his head. “Come with me. Let us go for a walk.” I said as I walked out through the back door closely followed by Jack while dad stayed behind.

“Dad’s parents died in an accident because of dad.” Jack’s eyes widened hearing it.

“Due to this everyone in Dad’s family hated him.

Mum met dad just when he was at his lowest point and attempting suicide.”

“What?” Jack was shocked to realise that our happy and cheerful dad had such a past.

“Mum changed him and filled his life with happiness and slowly they both fell in love and got married.” I gave him a summary.

“However, their problem began after their marriage.” Jack looked curious.

“They couldn’t have kids after a long time of being married and this annoyed our traditional grand parents who wanted kids immediately.” The content of the narration began worrying Jack.

“So, our grandparents made a decision for our parents. They asked our parents to adopt a child.” I could see the worry in Jack as we walked.

“Mum and dad didn’t even get the chance to look for the kids themselves.

Instead, our grandparents found a musical genius in a local care home and forced our parents to meet him.” Jack didn’t look too sure but what I was saying about our grandparents.

“Contrary to our parents’ worry they got along well with the kid and the kid liked them. So, they adopted him and gave him their family name and the child changed his name from David Cox to David Henswick.” Jack froze hearing that I was adopted.

“You are adopted?” Jack refused to believe it.

I nodded with a smile. “Don’t look like that Jack. Even though I was adopted I was never treated as an outsider by any of our family courtesy of our grandparents.”

“Why didn’t anyone tell me?” Jack asked in anger.

“What difference does it make?” I asked him.

“I am still your brother whether I am adopted or not. So, none of us saw any point in telling you until now.” I smiled at him as he had tears in his eyes.

I proceeded to lightly kick him in the balls. “Oof! Why did you do that?” He asked as he crouched on the floor in pain.

“You were about to get sentimental and interrupt the flow of my story.” I chuckled as I got close to him.

He was about to punch me in the balls, but I moved out of the way. “Ha you missed.” I mocked him much to his annoyance as he got up.

“Anyway about 9 years after I was adopted you were born. However, unlike what it said in novels or drama mum and dad never neglected me because I was an adopted child when they finally got their own child. They loved me just as they loved you the same for our grandparents.” Jack nodded proudly that nothing sick and disgusting happened in their family.

“Do you remember when I brought Natasha here the first time?” I asked Jack who nodded.

“After you left Nat and I came open about our jobs and identities to mum and dad. Obviously, they became worried just to hear I was in the middle of the alien attack. Due to this I didn’t tell them everything about Nat, like her past.

I also didn’t bother telling our grandparents thinking they would be worried to which our parents readily agreed.” Jack was getting worried at this point seeing the conversation was slowly being focused on our grandparents.

“Naturally, everyone especially our grandparents were very happy to hear my marriage with Nat.” Jack nodded remembering that event.

“This all changed when Nat uploaded everything about her and Shield to the world in order to reveal the presence of Hydra.

This was obviously telecasted on the news.” Jack nodded.

“Our mum's cousin somehow managed to dig through the net on the files of Nat and told our grandparents about it. Needless to say, they weren’t happy that the girl I married was an assassin like every concerned family.

Our grandparents gave our dad hell through the phone which he passed onto me before warning me to expect our grandparents’ call.” I became serious at this point.

“However, the call I got from them wasn’t like mum and dad’s Jack. It was brutal. Not towards me but towards Natasha.

They called Natasha a whore, for using me to get a family life she could never get, amongst other things.” Jack’s eyes widened.

“After 20 minutes of this I passed the recorded conversation of this to our parents who gave them their own hell.

Natasha was naturally upset hearing all this, but I comforted her. But what I didn’t realise was how much their words wounded her.” The look of anger on my face worried Jack.

“She ran away from me in order to not be in my life anymore. She changed her identity and looks just so I wouldn’t find her.” Jack was astonished to hear something like that happen.

“But then how…?” Jack was confused.

“Don’t underestimate her espionage skills just because she is being nice to all of us and all lovey-dovey in front of me.

If the whole world governments decided to hunt for her then they won’t find her unless she wants them to. That is how good of a trained assassin and spy she is.

If it weren’t because of my skills and some unethical methods to locate any person in the world I would have forever lost her Jack. All because of our grandparents.” I pointed out.

“It was only after I came back with her to home and told dad about what happened that he told me the true nature of our grandparents.

Our grandparents forced our parents to adopt me because of my musical talents to show off. They don’t consider people as beings with emotions Jack but rather tools or some sort of achievements to show off.

Since then, I made a decision to not expose Nat and my kids to them unless they apologised towards Nat for what they did.

The reason why dad was always strict on you was also because of them.” Jack’s had a look of disbelief.

“Our grandparents calls mum and shouts at her whenever they don’t see you doing well. Dad not being able to see mum get told off and hurt decided to become strict towards you.

When I asked why dad wouldn’t move away from our grandparents, his answer was to let you have a life filled with the care and love of grandparents. Not just that he didn’t want to rip mum away from her parents and live without the comfort of her parents like he had.

However, he decided after hearing what happened between me and Nat that he would definitely cut all contact with them after you reached a certain age of maturity.” Jack had tears in his eyes unable to believe what I told him about dad.

“Yeah he is big softie unlike how he looks and behave.” I told him as I patted him on the back as we walked back home in quietness.

Needless to say, when we arrived home he ran towards dad and hugged him in tears as he apologised to him. Dad just smiled and patted him back while mum and Nat wondered what was going on with Jack.

“What happened to Jack?” Mum asked as she stood from kitchen watching Jack crying.

“Just told him some family history.” I smiled as I took Sasha from her hands.

“Why is my princess so quiet?” I looked at Sasha who had a hand in her mouth.

“Is it because your uncle Jack took your job of crying?” This earned chuckle from both mum and Natasha.

Natasha passed me a feeding bottle which I took as I sat on the couch and began feeding Sasha as Dad and Jack talked.

*Beep* I looked down at my phone which came up with an alert.

Killmonger had challenged T'Chaka to the throne who accepted the challenge much to his T'Challa protest.

T'Chaka had guards forcefully escort his wife and children out of the palace so that they would not interfere with the fight. It seems T'Chaka wanted to atone for his sins and die by Erik’s hands.

T'Chaka died in Erik’s hands becoming the new king despite challenging a weak and old king.

Needless to say, the whole political system was in disarray. Other than W'Kabi no one really accepted the weak position of T'Chaka’s power even though they all pretended to support him.

I ignored the message and placed my phone back in my pocket. If T'Challa wanted my help then all he should is contact me. Besides, it would not be considered nice by the tribal council if outside force assisted T'Challa right now.

I placed the phone back in my pocket and proceeded to carry on feeding Sasha.

3 days went by when I received another alert as I was sat with Natasha watching T.V. inside the avengers facility after finishing our daily training session with others.

T'Challa had finally reclaimed the throne and Erik had died. Everything was proceeding just as it was meant to while the council gained a new ally.

As for me, I decided it was time to take my study of the infinity stones seriously.
