Episode 45-Diplomatic Immunity

‘No! That cannot be!’ I rubbed my temple with my fingers feeling slight pain.

‘He was literally vomiting everything he ate when he had killed for the first time, while I had received a report stating Jack of all trades had already killed several terrorists of Ten Rings just a few weeks ago before that event.’ The pain grew and the surroundings were making me sick right now.

I moved away from the area to get rid of the stupid ideas. However, I suddenly matched up some events.

‘I am an MSc Physicist graduated from Oxford.’ I remembered David telling me.

‘The consultant showed as a certificate that he graduated from Oxford with an MSc physics degree.’ This was what one of the people we interviewed told us.

‘But thousands of people graduate from Oxford every year. It’s just a coincidence.’ My mind kept countering with facts left and right as I tried to hold on and reason.

‘I am a genius at almost everything I do.’ I replayed the words David told me.

‘A consultant whose expertise laid everywhere.’ The report I had read appeared before my eyes.

Suddenly more facts came rushing towards me.

‘The day Jack of all Trades appeared to confront Stane was the same day David went out.’ My logical side screamed at me.

Why does it hurt? My head hurts. It hurts so much.

‘I love you.’ My emotional side replayed his words.

‘It was as if he has eyes on the shield. You are his eyes, Natalia.’ I can’t believe it... no I rather not believe these stupid thoughts.

‘Remember how he slaughtered all those Hydra agents who came for you, Nat.’ He loved me. He said he loved me.

‘They could have been there for him.’ A part of me that I so badly wanted to deny told myself.

'No can’t be the agent we captured…' I stopped that thought as another thought interrupted me.

‘He died before even being able to confess anything due to poisoning. Besides no one knows if the needles David had used could be laced in poison or not.’ I got out of the room as my mind became a battleground of debate.

‘Fury was watching him.’ It hurts.

‘He is a great actor who fooled Fury and fooled you.’ Everything hurts.

‘Shut up!’ I screamed inside as I tried holding everything together. I can’t fall apart. I am on a mission.

I quickly ran out ignoring Pepper who was trying to call Tony.

*Ping* I took out my phone and looked at the message that came in. [Just know I wasn’t using you. Everything that happened between us was real. I love you and will only love you. Just wait for me.]

“Damn you!” My hands trembled as everything started becoming really clear to me. I finally realised why the Red Room made sure I could never be distracted.

My eyes became misty as I quickly went through my contacts and called the first person on speed dial. “Agent Romanoff?”

-----------------------------------------

[David PoV]

I watched as agents surrounded both Natasha’s home and my restaurant, through the phones of the passer-by’s or through the visual cam’s or phones of the agent themselves.

In the midst of the agents, I saw Nat with red eyes of both sadness and rage. In her hand a loaded and unlocked gun ready to fire at any moment; while the other agents had their guns locked.

She wanted to kill me, if not make me suffer. She was crushed, broken and in pain; just as I had predicted. She was directing all that negative emotions to anger right now. She was always very stable and in control but now due to me, she couldn't get a grasp on her emotions. I hated seeing her like this, but I promised myself I would tell her everything.

“I will come for you, Nat.” I made another promise as I closed my laptop and walked towards the airport. A new face, a new passport, and a ticket to a flight I had to catch soon.

Not long after both places were declared empty. I observed everything through their eyes.

My capture level was raised even higher on the shield database to the point they prioritised me on an even greater level than Bruce or any criminals known to mankind. There was even a full photograph of me, complete with full details on the database updated within moments.

After all, evading the best and most powerful government agency in the world while living under them was something not easily passable for Shield or the world governments. Not to mention when I was literally dating one of their own, and according to them could possibly have gotten access to restricted files of Shield database.

*Ping* [All government agencies and Shield moving in.] The alert I set up activated. They were preparing to question my family, and I can't allow it.

“Let me show you fools what political immunity really means.” I sat in the waiting area as I clicked on the app on my phone I designed for today.

There was a reason why I was bored enough to just start a restaurant in a corner of the world and sit there for the past few years just consuming knowledge.

If one had infinite power and resource cheats activated in a game they were playing, how long would that person play that game without getting bored? The answer was not long.

[Shield HQ- 20 minutes later]

“What do you mean the EU won’t let us step into the UK? We are Shield, we don’t have jurisdiction!” Maria Hill shouted through the phone in anger.

“That is what they are saying, mam.” Maria frowned as she tried calling Fury. The only problem was he was busy with Stark right now and had assigned her to take care of David until he came back.

“Mam, the UK government just warned that no government agencies are to set foot 100 meters of any of David’s immediate family members. Anyone who does so will be seen as a threat to the nation.” Another person shouted out to Hill.

News like that kept flooding to her warning Shield to not approach David’s family members under any circumstances. No one said why, they just said no to them.

“Agent Hill, Yen of World Security Council is on the line.” Hill put the line through.

“I was told you are temporarily in charge Agent Hill?” Yen’s voice came through.

“Yes, sir,” Hill replied.

“I presume you are already facing backlash from every way possible trying to move against his family right?”

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

“Yes Sir.”

“I don’t know why but the whole world is going crazy right now. All 5 of us from the council are being forced by our own respective countries' superiors to not authorise you making any sort of contact with David’s family Agent Hill.”

“But sir…”

“Agent Hill, I wish to talk more but our President is on the line with me. Till we authorise and understand what is happening don’t make any sort of contact with his family. However, you are free to establish contact with David himself.” Yen hung up leaving Hill even more confused.

“What the fuck!?” Agent Hill just couldn’t understand what was going on. David was someone the whole world loved to get their hands on, but right now the world wishes to protect his family as if sucking up to him.

*Beep**Beep**Beep* Hill hesitated to answer her phone seeing the caller ID. In the end, she reluctantly answered.

“I am going to the UK.” Agent Romanoff declared as soon as she answered.

'I was afraid of this.' Hill frowned.

“No, you are not!” Hill stated back in frustration as she tried contacting Fury.

“I wasn’t asking your permission. I was just informing you.” Hill had a bad feeling as she quickly stopped what she was doing and went to check Romanoff’s location.

“Turn the Quinjet round this instant Romanoff!” Hill ordered but Natalia just hung up.

“Fuck!” She cursed as she ran out of the room only to be blocked by Jasper.

“Agent Hill, we have a situation…”

“Not now Sitwell…” She tried to move out of the way, but Jasper stopped her.

“No, this is something you have got to see.” Jasper pulled up few images in front of her.

[United Kingdom- 5 kilometres away from Rob Henswick.]

*Crash* “AHHH!” People screamed as they ran away from the car that crashed into a nearby building.

*Thud* The only survivor kicked the door open out of the crashed car and crawled out covered in blood.

“Fuck!” She cursed seeing her dead partners inside the car.

“Strike team 1, what happened?” A voice came in through the woman’s earphone.

“I don’t know. Sniper just killed all of them just as…” *Bam* She couldn’t finish as her body slammed on the ground and flew up like a rubber ball from the impact of something going through her chest.

“Strike team 1? Confirm your status?” The voice entered the dead woman’s ears.

[United Kingdom- 5 kilometres away from Jack Henswick’ school.]

“What the hell is happening?” A man screamed from the back of the helicopter feeling it rocking heavily.

“Someone just sniped the pilot through the bulletproof …” *Splat* Before the co-pilot could finish his sentence a terrifying noise was heard for those high in the air.

“Fuck!” Everyone waiting on the back of the helicopter held for their dear lives.

[United Kingdom- 5 kilometres away from Julie Henswick.]

Several beings in black tried crossing the 5 km mark. Many tried through the shadows, blending through the crowd, through the sewers, through any way possible. But none of them was able to take 1 step past the 5 km mark.

“Get the bodies and come back."An old female voice came through all their communication device.

"Time waits for no one other than us David. We will see how long you can keep them safe.” If one traced the call they would find it leading back to a residence back in New York where an Asian woman sat with a frown.

All the beings in dark grabbed the bodies that they could and left.

[A random parliament member of UK- 3rd Person PoV]

"Did you find out, why are they all protecting him?" The woman asked the man through the phone.

"Not yet but Zola's working on it. Try to put up some resistance from your side." The person informed the woman.

"Alright, Hail Hydra."

"Hail Hydra." The line disconnected.

The woman sat down thinking what to do next to somehow allow Shield access to the country. Every single private team they had to send were slaughtered by unknown snipers and mercenaries. The worse thing was not losing so many members but rather not finding how they were attacked.

*Ping* The Hydra operative looked down at her phone.

'Jack? Who is Jack?' She frowned seeing the recipient of the message.

Clicking the message she opened it. [*Bang*] *Clang* The phone dropped on the floor as the woman looked at the video in worry.

It was a short clear clip of the killings she had made for Hydra a few years ago, ranging from political parties to certain MI5 Agents.

"Ami? You ready?" A handsome man walked in with a smile.

"Just a minute honey." Ami quickly grabbed her phone from the floor and stopped the video playing on loop.

*Ping*[Stay away from my family and make sure everyone else does. Or I will make sure this gets leaked to the public and a bullet enters through your head and everyone else you love.] Ami gulped in worry as series of images of dead mercenaries they had send appeared on her phone.

"You okay?" The man asked Ami.

"Yeah." Ami smiled as she quickly hid her phone.

'I need to tell Pierce quickly. How did he even get these footages?'

[Natasha PoV]

“Romanoff come back this instant!” Hill’s visual appeared on the Quinjet’s screen.

“This is not between Shield and Jack of all Trades, Hill. This is between Natalia and David!” I told her as the Quinjet finally passed Ireland.

‘Just a bit more and even if it means I have to tear his family apart I will get my answers!’ I promised myself.

Maria sighed. “One moment, Fury is back. He will speak with you.” I tried cutting the call but found it impossible.

Maria’s visual got replaced by Fury. “Before you say anything, I want you to look at this.” Countless images of dead people appeared on the streets.

“What is it?” I asked Fury feeling very unsettled.

“The group of peoples who ignored the warnings given by the governments and tried to get close to the Henswicks.” I grew concerned at that, not because they were his family but that the UK government was willing to go that far for that bastard.

“Not a single one of them crossed the 5 km marking.” I became stunned hearing that.

“Bulletproof glass, underground tunnel, moving through the cover of buildings or flying 1000’s of meters high. No matter which way someone took they won’t cross the 5 km marking. You understand what I am saying?” That wasn’t the work of the UK government. They aren’t capable of something like that, even if they are why would they do something extreme for them.

“No one knows who or how this is happening. There have been no movements from any known snipers in the world to show that it is them.

But one thing is clear and that is the message these dead people have given us.” ‘Don’t come close to my family.’

“I don’t care,” I told Fury.

“Romanoff you might think David won’t touch you because of who you were to him, and there is a possibility that you might be correct.” I felt anger like never before clouding my heart.

“He is nothing to me! I am not going there to ask him to take me back! I am going there to put a bullet through his head, even if it means killing his whole family!” I shouted back at Fury.

“That’s the problem!” Fury shouted back at me.

“He isn’t the only one with family. You have a family too and so does Clint!” I froze as I realised what Fury meant.

“He is not stupid Romanoff. If he could stay right under our noses all these years preparing countermeasures for this day then that means he has a countermeasure against you.

So, for Clint’s sake come back or you will have to explain to him why there is a bullet through the body of his pregnant wife and girl!” I felt my hands couldn't hold the yoke of the Quinjet any tighter.

‘Why? Why me? Why did he have to raise me so high and just let me fall? What did I ever do to him?’

“Come back, Romanoff.” Fury hung up. That wasn’t an order but a request.

“AHHH!” I threw my phone down in anger.

“I hate you!” I leaned forward and buried my head into my hands.

I felt so lost and helpless, and I hated it.

The Red Room was right taking everything away from me. 'I wasn’t meant to have that sort of life and I should have just trusted them instead of being a selfish fool and trusting you David.'

[A hidden bunker beneath Camp Lehigh]

"Zola, how did he get all those pieces of evidence past your eyes?" Pierce walked in looking furious.

"I am afraid I don't know Pierce." Zola's mechanical voice replied to Pierce.

"What do you mean you don't know? I thought you kept track of everyone and everything. How did David being Jack of all Trades go past you?" There was nothing Pierce or Hydra could even do now. No matter what they tried everyone they had to send died, with all their political member's restricted way too much from the threats from David.

"I am afraid his skill at programming is more than he put up as. Even right now I tried attacking his phone only to be blocked off. Not to mention, he got all those evidence somehow from Malick's and your database. Both of you had somehow given access to him, to your files." Pierce became worried hearing that.

"How did he do that?" Pierce asked in confusion.

"It's a remote database not set up online at our house. How can he get those files without coming there in person? Not to mention that place is surveyed by you and a few of our men." Pierce kept asking Zola.

An image of Natasha appeared on the screen. "I believe he must have used Agent Romanoff's ID to modify it to create an access card for himself, got in there and took what he wanted and left while spoofing the camera and making me blind." Pierce rubbed his head to keep the growing ache at bay.

"Does he know we are Hydra?"

"I don't believe so. He didn't break through too deep into my security system. This means he didn't have any access to any evidence pointing you or Malick's to Hydra. He was content with what he got and left." Pierce sighed in relief hearing that.

"How come you didn't notice anything Zola? Shouldn't you have noticed his intrusion into your security system?" Pierce asked Zola in worry.

"I was too preoccupied with Project Insight that I didn't have enough computational power to deal with David and notice his intrusion." Pierce nodded at that.

"I had thought your current hardware was all we needed for the future but it seems we need to do an upgrade for you," Pierce stated while Zola had a worried face.

"I am worried I would lose countless data if I were to be transferred to a better hardware Pierce, even though I would be faster," Zola informed Pierce.

"That is a risk we have to take with David running about Zola." Pierce left the room after making up his mind.
