Ch 263: She Makes them Scream and Shout

WHOOSH!

Fire erupted from out of the small room. In a column of blue fire it spewed forward and crashed against the floor.

The mist parted around the fire as if it was afraid to touch it. And so, a small ring of open air sprang into existence wherever the fire went.

The mist started to swirl around the column of fire. Raising up like the start of a tornado. Then, in a flash, the fire faded into small embers.

In the center of the swirling wisps of fire and twirling mist, was a lone chicken.

"Now that's an entrance!" Lulu cheered.

"Uh," Og'drimun pointed out, "Shouldn't you be worrying more about holding on?"

Before Lulu could even check, the suction cups that had held Pockets easily, quickly popped off of the stone wall. In a brief moment, she was suddenly falling towards the ground.

Sentenza frowned as he saw Lulu fall. His eyes turned from her to the room Nugget had just burst out from in a beam of fire.

"Ted's in there," Sentenza said flatly.

"Oh. Oh man, you're right." Og'drimun said. "Ah well, it was nice knowing him. Poor guy definitely got roasted alive."

Bakade had slid down the wall while the others talked. She leaped into the air, and caught Lulu while she was still falling.

Without any flourish or grand feat of dexterity, Bakade landed on the ground with Lulu safely in her arms. But, she landed right in the middle of a patch of fog.

A moment later, Bakade and Lulu had disappeared completely. All that was left was mist.

"Bakaw!" Nugget let out a sharp roar. Her voice sent out a shockwave that pushed the mist away from her even further.

SMASH!

The robot leaped out from the mist and tried to punch Nugget.

The chicken looked completely calm as the mentality fist charged for her beak. She stood firm until the very last moment, where she rotated to the side and avoided the attack completely.

The robot didn't stop moving. It just kept flying past Nugget, and disappeared into the fog on the other side of her. It was oddly reminiscent of a certain killer clown.

"Ted! Are you alright in there!?!" Sentenza shouted much to Narissa and Og'drimun's surprise.

"What are you doing?" Og'drimun whispered as he held his paw up to his mouth. "Do you really want everyone to take notice of where we are?"

Sentenza ignored him and shouted again, "Ted! If you're alright, answer me!"

Narissa leaned back on the hands that were holding her up. She shook her head. "Boys." She sighed.

"What?" Og'drimun scoffed. "Don't lump me in with him. Some of us know how to avoid painting a target on our backs."

Almost like he had been tempting fate, a metal javelin pierced into the wall right next to Og'drimun. The metal pole shook up and down from the force of the throw, and all of Og'drimun's fur stood up as it dawned on him what just occurred.

"You're lucky their aim is so bad," Narissa chuckled as she put the back of her hand in front of her mouth.

"Is that what you saw?" Og'drimun sneered. "I guess I should expect as much. That attack should've hit me, you see. But thankfully, my amazing reflexes are so highly toned that I shifted forward just in time to avoid any actual damage."

"Uh huh," Narissa said as she rolled her eyes.

"Oh yeah, even in our time together, you've only seen a small fraction of my actual power." Og'drimun continued to boast.

"Grrrr."

The wolf growled from within the fog that encircled Nugget. She slowly closed her eyes. Unlike usual, her aura was wild, twisted by the pain and blood loss. But, even still she was able to slowly focus it in around herself.

The fog was almost like a reflection of the wolf. Anger and bloodlust filled each molecule. It ebbed and flowed like waves in a storm. It was violent, frigid, and primal. Death stained every inch.

Yet the wolf stood out, even amongst all that. What surrounded him made the rest of the fog seem inconsequential in comparison. Despite his ability to hide from the others, Nugget's beak continued to point towards his actual form within the fog.

Quite a feat considering he moved even faster than normal within the fog.

When the wolf finally made a move, and leaped towards Nugget, she immediately became shrouded in flames. As fire covered her, she jumped forward to meet the ice covered wolf.

Steam burst up into the air as the two elemental forces slammed into each other. The hissing noise that came with the steam almost sounded like pained screams as neither one of then wanted to give any ground to the other.

Then, in a bright flash, both of them were gone.

The robot stood back in the fog with his arm held up towards where they had been just a moment ago.

"Ted!"

Ted put a hand on his head. It was so hot in the room now. He could feel the sweat rolling down his back. He could hear someone shout his name, but still wasn't quite all there yet.

It felt like he had just woken up, but he knew that wasn't true. Wait, it was...yes, that was it. It was cold. He was running from a wolf. Then it got hot, really hot. It came so fast he almost fainted and spaced out for a little bit.

"Ted!"

There it was again. Someone calling out to him. Who could it be?

"TED!"

Ted stuck his head out of the room as he asked, "Huh? Who keeps shouting my name?"
