Nugget looked up at the orb. Several of the tendril's that reached out from it were severed and flailed around as they sprayed thin bursts of black ink. Sparks flew from the strange object now and again as it let out a quiet buzzing sound.
She ruffled her feathers and finished preening herself before she turned towards the door to the room. With gravity mirroring the building's orientation, it was much easier for her to simply walk out the door.
Once she was out in the hallway, Nugget closed her eyes and lifted her beak up into the air. She stood completely still for almost an entire minute. Her chest barely moved as she slowed her breathing down.
While her eyes were still closed, she casually stepped to the side as a metal claw scraped against the ground where she had just been standing.
Nugget? Nugget!
The one-eyed creature was crouched on the ground with it's claw still embedded in the floor. It started down the chicken, while she kept her eyes shut. However, she did lower her beak down and aimed it directly towards her one-eyed opponent.

Hey Nugget! It's me! I'm here too, in this cage. Death shouted. You may not have recognized me because of the lack of a body. But, it's definitely me.
Nugget didn't move an inch. She continued to barely move, even from her breathing. Opposing her, the one eye appraised her cautiously. Both of them seemed to be waiting for the other to make a move.
Oh cool, are you guys done fighting? Nice. Anyway Nugget, we're here to stop some kind of explosion thing. Death stated, oblivious that the fight had already started.
"Ba-kaw." Nugget cooed softly.
As soon as she spoke, the one-eyed creature jumped towards her. Its claws were open and ready to strike. Again, as it was about to tear through Nugget's soft flesh, she stepped to the side and completely avoided the strike.
And again, the two of them turned to face each other. Then, Nugget slowly opened her eyes. Her two small orbs stared back into the large one set in it's hood.
Seriously, if I could vomit, I would have plastered you so much. Death commented. You're just tossing me around all haphazardly.
The hallway was silent as they both waited again. Death shifted his skull left, and then right as he tried to get a look around.
Uh, wait...Nugget, what did you say?
Nugget tilted her head to the side. "Bawk? Ba-kaw."
Oh right. Death nodded. I can't understand a thing you say.
