Ch 175: Burning Away

Crack

A splinter appeared on the edge of the crystal around the robot's neck. Sentenza caught the change as he peeked around the corner.

Og'drimun stomped on the ground and pulled angrily on his own ears. "How could he just suck all that in! Those were flames from the seventh layer!"

Sentenza gave a sideways glance towards the frustrated demon, and then out towards the defeated clown. He shook his head. "Useless allies are worse than enemies." He grumbled.

Without looking out, Sentenza pointed his gun around the corner and fired. The bullet ran straight into the crystal, but, like the fire, all the energy from it seemed to get sucked straight into the crystal. The bullet remained, but all its momentum had disappeared, and it stayed in place up against the crystal for just a moment before it fell right to the ground.

"Hmm," mused Sentenza before he held out his nonmagical gun and fired it blindly around the corner.

The bullet slammed into the robot's shoulder and forced him to stumble back a bit. Sentenza nodded and put his guns down into the holsters on his belt. Then, he spun out into the opening of the hallway.

He stared down the robot as he held his hand over his nonmagical gun.

"I see your game there, kid." Sentenza narrowed his eyes. "But I'll give you a chance. Let's draw on the count of three. Understand?"

The robot tightened his grip on his ally's severed arm. Then, he nodded.

Sentenza smiled. "Alright then, get ready."

"One."

They stared each other down. Even without eyes, the intense glare from the robot was as clear as day.

"Two."

Bang!

Right as he said two, Sentenza's hand moved at the speed of lightning, and he fired his gun from his hip. The bullet hit the crystal necklace.

WHOOSH!

The crystal shattered. As it did, a burst of energy exploded out from the crystal that knocked both of them back.

"You certainly took your sweet time, didn't you?"

Narissa was standing there with a smug expression on her face. She looked down at Sentenza, who had been knocked onto his back.

"Narissa! You're...you're back!" Og'drimun cheered as he flew out and practically tackled her. "I thought you were going to be gone forever!" he added through the start of sobs.

She rolled her eyes as she put her arms around the small demon. "I'm almost angry at how little faith you seem to have in me."

Og'drimun looked up at her with snot dripping from his nose. "But...but you weren't showing up right...the world itself was saying you were...that you were..."

There was a shuffling noise behind her, and Narissa turned to see the robot starting to pick itself up from off of the ground.

"What? You haven't managed to fix that mess yet?" she sighed as she shook her head.

Narissa walked up to the struggling robot and put her foot against his chest. She pressed her foot down and forced the robot back onto the ground as she loomed over it.

She looked down in disdain as she shook her head. "Such a rudimentary trap. Really now."

She waved her hand in a circle, and then cut a line through it. "Shatter, shell of the grave." she said firmly. The symbol she drew turned yellow, and then started to fade away.

As the yellow faded into the air pieces of the robot seemed to fade away as well. Almost as if a breeze was pulling away pieces of ash from an old fire.
