Ch 164: True Perfection

Bakade twisted and flipped around. Like a world class ballerina, she gracefully moved out of the way of the rainbow of lasers as they rained down upon her. She was still able to dodge each of them as they approached, but they came with such frequency that she was constantly being pushed back ever so slightly.

Her body bent at almost impossible angles to avoid the streaks of energy before they exploded on the ground. But the lasers always seemed to come at the most inopportune angles and times. If she hadn't had such incredible control over her body, she would have been ripped to shreds almost immediately.

Yet here she was, surviving the onslaught. The flames of her eyes kept glancing over towards the increasing small speck that was Nugget. While she was pushed back bit by bit, that small hen had steadily made her way forward towards progress.

Near the determined chicken, a green light streaked across the ground. It danced around, like a glowstick in a rave.

The wolf stopped in place. The dagger with its green, glowing edge sparked in his jaw. His eyes glared through Nugget.

The bloody aura of death that surrounded him would have been enough on its own to knock most people out. Yet, Nugget was able to stand against him.

But then, Nugget's foot stepped back.

The wolf's eyes flashed wide. He twisted his neck and flung the glowing dagger towards Nugget. As the weapon left his mouth, the wolf just stood there as he stared at the small chicken. His eyes burning with hatred and a clear desire for blood.

Nugget lowered her head slightly and then flapped her wings. She lifted straight up into the air just in time to avoid the dagger. As it passed under her, she grasped the handle with both of her talons.

A wing flew up in front of her face as she twisted her body to spin around. As her foot grasped the weapon, the wolf took in a slow breath through his nose before he ran off to Nugget's left.

THUMP!

His steps increased with intensity. The first one simply thudded against the ground. The next sounded more like a body builder being thrown into the ground. Each step grew louder and more forceful as his paws left increasingly large imprints in the ground.

Nugget began to use the momentum of the knife to redirect it, but something was wrong. Unlike other times she had done something similar, the knife seemed almost like it was fighting against her. Like it was determined to continue going in the same direction.

Then, Nugget's eyes grew wide as she quickly released the knife. But it was too late.

THWOOOM!

A shockwave of energy erupted from the knife and sent Nugget flying right towards where the wolf was headed.

They intersected as the wolf raised up his robotic leg. He slammed it to the ground with more force than he had let loose so far.

Nugget's body was flying through the air. The blast seemed to have disoriented her as she approached her certain death. Yet within her, a spark burned. Deep in her eyes a hint of fear resurfaced.

She flapped her wings wildly and managed to twist her trajectory a couple feet away from the wolf's stomping foot.

As his paw slammed into the ground the world itself seemed to go silent. Like the world itself held its breath while it waited. Then, steam shot out of the leg as his paw was shot into the ground like a piston.

The two impacts were so seamless that the ensuing shockwave compounded their force. The ground splintered and shattered under the raw force as an invisible shockwave tore through the world itself.

Nugget may have managed to keep her head out from underneath that paw, but she was caught at ground zero of the ensuing blast.

As Bakade dodged the lasers, the hair on the back of her neck stood on edge. Without any time to think, the shockwave had already reached her. The powerful blast immediately broke apart the lasers as if they were nothing more than dust.

The lean girl was hit square on, and as the ground beneath her splintered, she was thrown back hundreds of feet as the impact knocked the air out of her. Its force was so great, that it threatened to turn her into nothing but dust as well.

"Hey! I thought we had agreed on some restraint with this sort of thing!" The voice cried out to the wolf.

But the wolf didn't seem to pay the static filled voice any mind.

This place had been expansive, and smooth. Like a futuristic world devoid of anything that wasn't necessary. Now it was less held together than a pile of rubble. Massive cracks as wide as Bakade was tall spread across the surface.

Smooth seemed to be nothing but a distant idea in this place now, with jagged rocks sticking up more often than any flat ground.

The breaks were quite thorough, as it wasn't all massive cracks and ruptures, but even down to the smallest detail, the world itself looked like it was on the verge of collapsing. Any small rock could crumble under the slightest weight.

The wolf's eyes darted around, as Nugget was nowhere to be seen. With determination and clear purpose, he walked through the crumbling scenery and up to the discarded knife. Its green edge had disappeared, and it was lying precariously on the edge of a deep crack.

The wolf knelt down and picked up the blade in his mouth. He bit down on it again and more sparks danced across its surface before the dagger erupted in the green edge again.

His aura of raw death and killing intent had only grown as he turned to face the small wisp of an aura that defied him.
