Chapter 94 Dungeon Trail
----------------------------------------
“This is our first time meeting you. Greetings, my name is King Sigliendurne. May I know your name? It is not very often that we got lords coming to our barren land.”
“My name is Edelweiss, and this is Lord Alistar.” They introduced themselves.
“You came earlier than birds that tried to steal our corns. Was the situation about the undead that dire?” King Sigliendurne asked
“Yes. If we do not get the leylines leakage fixed in five years, our kingdom will be no more. And perhaps, yours too, and even humans.”
“I see. First of all, I apologize for our refusal beforehand. We would be more welcoming towards it if we knew that you would not use such precious metals for trinkets and jewelry. Leylines leakage is a serious matter and should not be allowed to fester.” King Sigliendurne said
“Is this your party? I apologize, but these five don’t look like they could fight,” One of Sig’s henchmen was talking down on Alistar and Edelweiss’ serf.
“They merely brought our supplies. I heard the dungeon was a dangerous place. We need to conserve our strength.” Alistar reasoned.
“I see. Well, I am afraid you have to let them go home when we arrive at the mouth of the chasm unless you are prepared for their vain death.”
“Of course. By the way, where is the mouth of the chasm?”
“It is at the north of the here. I will guide you there.”
“You will guide us personally?” Alistar widened his eye.
“Yes. I will also be one of the ten soldiers to gather titan ores. Along with my daughter here. My life is inconsequential, but please at least save her if the need arises.”
“I will do my best. But I was ordered to save Edelweiss even at the cost of my own life. I will try to save everyone, nevertheless.” Ouch, that was a tough decision. The king sure knew his priorities. Edelweiss was the only healing magician in the elven kingdom and possibly the entire world. She was the only one who could heal our injuries mid-fight.
“I see. Thank you for being honest. Even though you guys are arrogant, that’s the one point I like about you. I will also state that I will try to save everyone, but my daughter, Niece, will take priority if I am forced to choose in the future.”

“May I know what kind of monsters we will find in this dungeon? We only knew it was a dungeon from your letters.”
“It was a dungeon like no other. I can tell how strong you guys are, but no matter how many levels you have, it won’t matter much. The dungeon has strong monsters, but the most dangerous thing about it is the traps. No matter how many levels you have, You will still be dead if dropped into the pool of molten metal. And no matter how strong you are, the darkness will still hinder your movements. That’s what the chasm is about.” King sig grimly spoke of his experience.
“Let us march there before dawn. You guys must have spent considerable effort just to reach this place. I knew that elves usually take it easy, so your haste when coming here speaks a lot of your resolve. This is a good opportunity. Diving into the deep mountain was a good trial for my son.”
“I am glad that our interests align. May the moon bless you until the coming dawn. We shall now retire in your abode reserved for us. Once again, I thank you for your hospitality.” Alistar bowed down. All during talking, my tail rustled in fear of parasites. Lily had applied a lot of those lotions on me beforehand, but fear still lingered.
“We have done our best. The plague is weak to heat, and thus if we warmed every bed sheet next to a fire or boiled water when washing, they will go away.” The hotel staff told me. “However, we haven’t fully exterminated this pest, I apologize, but I must ask you to use the potion before sleeping.”
“I understand.” As we checked in at our hotel, king sig and the other 9 people followed.
“Who might these gentlemen be? King Sigliendurne?” Lord Alistar asked.
“These guys are the adventurers, my daughter and my sons, who will challenge the deep mountain together with you. We will risk our life together, and dwarven culture state that you must at least live in the same house as your comrades! Does elven culture not do the same?”
“The elven soldiers trained under their mentor and have something called schools. That’s why their soldiers have such cohesion, not unlike dwarves. But they do not necessarily share the same house.” Jona, the only one who knew both Dwarven and Elven culture, answered.
“But we are not apprehensive to the idea. Elite soldiers do live in the same building too. We called them barracks.” Alistar smiled. The dwarven gang relaxed their expression.
“Ahh, they do have that, too,” Jona remembered. Well, it was a little different that barracks were owned by the government while these dwarves tried to essentially live in our house. But I wouldn’t point out such a difference. I knew how to read the atmosphere.
“I understand it must be difficult to leave your life in the hands of others. Let me tell you this story on Fort Soleil….” Alistar started to narrate his story. His story was eloquent and filled with the bravery of his soldiers who triumphed over darkness. He even called out their name and praised their courage.
“And that’s my story. How about you, Lord Edelweiss?” he threw the ball to Lord edelweiss, and she responded with another story. This time the story was about the casualties in Fort Soleil. She said the sacrifices were painful and the longing of the fallen soldier’s family. Seeing such excellent soldiers failing to return home and spend the rest of their days with their families was grieving.
“Hahaha, I see. Although you guys have a weird way of talking, I knew you also care for each other! Let me tell you the history of my ancestors! Bring in the beers!” King Sig forwent all manners after listening to their stories and then started talking. Lily was only listening while brushing me with a brush as the elves and dwarves bonded for the night.
