Chapter 32
----------------------------------------
We continued on and finally reached a city called Reminiscence. The town was bustling with Tailfollk and elves. How odd that even in this town, the tailfolk population still seemed to surpass the elves. Edelweiss went to City Hall and traded the feystone we filled for empty ones as we entered the city. We then received our pay and moved on to the inn. She then gave us 200 gold to spend in this city as we liked. We need to move out again the following day. She said we were almost there.
"The food is delicious!" She whispered in her mind. We are now in a bar just two blocks away from the elven city. Lhorne and Edelweiss were busy with the guardian of this province.
"Good Evening, may the moon bless us with a crescent smile. My name is Rhanderwald, and I am a graduate of Sinctail Academy. Vassal of Lord Edelweiss a Magic Decarion of forest keepers." An elf greeted us. He was with his two tailfolk retainers. They all seemed to be mages since they all carried a bag adorned with a mage's crest. Mages in this world didn't have staff or wands. Magic used feystones as a catalyst.
"Hello! You may sit. What is it?" Lily said briefly. After hearing the elves talk among themselves, we got used to how they spoke. Lily, however, couldn't seem to talk like them.
"I hear you have been blessed with fire magic. May we trade magic for that particular matter? My apprentice tailfolk will do the trading. It will be good practice for her."
"Trade magic?" Lily gazed at me. I could only shake my tail as a sign that I didn't know what he was talking about.
"Trade magic refers to one mage teaching the other the magic they are adept at. For example, my apprentice here is adept at water magic. She may trade her spells 'create water' to others and receive other benefits, for example, money or other spells." He said
"As you have received a blessing, may we use your mana for the feystones?" He said while smiling. They were talking gibberish to me. I have no idea what trade spells are. How should I answer them, though?
"Lily, say that you have not graduated from the magic academy and thus didn't know about trade spells," I said to Lily. "If they wanted to teach us about these things, I could fill two feystones for them as a bonus."
Lily parrotted my words, and the elves frowned. He didn't expect that we didn't know what he was talking about. He thought we were arrogant and didn't want to teach them, but his apprentice told him otherwise, and he accepted it.
"I see. I didn't know that it was possible that one could reap such an achievement untrained. In that case, We would accept your gift to fill our feystones and tell you about the spell trade. Lala, You may teach her the spell 'pour water.' Let us walk to the courtyard."
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
"Lily! First, you need to fill the feystones with mana. But, since it would take days, I have a full one right here…."
"Wait, could you ask Lord Lily to fill the feystone instead? She promised us to fill these feystones for the trade after all." Rhanderwald interrupted us. He seemed rich and spoiled, but he was very wary about using feystones.
"Sure…"She said. After Lala gave an empty feystone to us, I rubbed it and filled them with my first method.
"So fast… So that's a blessing…." Lala muttered.
"I see. I apologize for my interruption. You may use the feystones as you wish," Rhander spoke. I see. He was testing us. He wanted to know if we were able to use magic or not. The service for feystones was twenty gold. Maybe he was not as rich as he looks like.
"Ah, we have ten empty feystones. This is a separate deal, but could you fill these for thirty gold each?" Rhanderwald said. Lily looked at him, but I stopped her.
"After the trade Lily. I don't know how much mana we would have after this is over." I said
"Sorry. But I need to learn about the trade first." She replied.
"Oh, well. Sorry to interrupt you. Go ahead, Lala."
"So, here. Look! Can you feel it? This is how you can create water!" she drew mana from the feystone and held the mana in her other hand, then it formed into water poured onto the ground.
"Did you get it, Shiro?"
"No. If we can take a closer look at her hand, I might be able to replicate it. Let us get some pen and paper."
"I am sorry. But I need to take a closer look at the mana that was formed in her hand." Lily replied.
"Huh? Were you able to glean that much from looking at it once? Spell trade usually took a week to monitor the spells." Rhander said. "Well, never mind. This is the spell that we were willing to trade. What spell will you trade to us?"
"Fireball," I muttered.
"An attack magic, huh? I am sorry, but I already knew that spell. Sinctail academy graduates need to master at least one attack spell. Is there other magic that you wish to trade?"
"Should we use the fire dragon?" Lily asked.
"No, that would destroy the city! Ahh. How about heat water?" I asked her to grab a bucket full of water, and I used magic on it. The water then boiled after about five minutes.
"Excellent!! This seemed like an unfair trade. I can't thank you enough! This night is very fruitful indeed. I shall give you two feystones in exchange. Wait a minute. Hmm… I can't decipher this magic in just that amount of timeframe…." Rhander muttered.
"Well, we will meet again in Fort Soleil. I wish you luck. Here is a single feystone for you. I will give the remaining feystone once we are able to recreate this spell!"
"Thank you, Lily!" Lala grabbed Lily's hand, and our tails high-fived. We had some weird synergy as this action seemed very natural.
"Lala! What are you doing? How uncouth!" Rhander dissed her with a frown.
"Ah. My apologies. I wish you the blessing of the night so you may rest into the coming dawn full of bright sunlight." She pinched her skirt and bowed like a noble.
"I, too, wish you the same. Let us go, Lala." Rhander also bowed, and then they left us.
"Let us sleep. We still need to depart tomorrow."
"The feystones?"
"Don't worry. I will still fill them for Edelweiss just put the bag where my tail can reach them. And we can keep the single feystone Lala gave us." I answered.
Today, we just made a new friend. I wonder how many friends we would make in Fort Soleil?
