Chapter 26
----------------------------------------
“Lily! Lord Edelweiss summoned for us!” Lhorne banged on my door first thing in the morning.
“Hmm? Why are you shouting?” Lily yawned while opening the door. Even if Edelweiss called us, so what? It doesn’t mean he had to bang on our door at dawn.
“She was accompanied by the Knight of Hoeth! My dream academy!” Lhorne shouted. Lily only tilted her head in annoyance. Her interest was zero.
“Ahem! I apologize for my unruly behavior, Miss Lily. I was only surprised that such a summon would come for us from Hoeth Academy. Hoeth Academy is the most prestigious academy in the elven country. It is where the best swordsmen honed their skills. When a representative from such a prestigious school came to this backwater village, I couldn’t help but get excited.”
“So, when will the meeting be? We just arrived here yesterday, right?”
“Yeah. They asked us to come to Regoia as soon as possible. So, Wharnebald arranged for a carriage this morning.”
“What about my job? I haven’t done a thing about mana replenishment for those crystals….” Lily asked. She still had one thousand gold debt to Wharnebald. We don’t want to be like Mattheus here.
“Forget it. If you prioritized such a thing compared to Lord Edelweiss and Hoeth’s summon, our heads would fly. So let’s go! The carriage is this way. Oh, I already asked the innkeeper to provide us with a lot of breakfast. We can eat in the carriage!” Lhorne said.
“Nora! Mattheus!” Lily knocked on their door. After they opened it, Lily told them everything Lhorne said.
“Are you sure I can come?” Mattheus wondered
“Hm… The message said all of us may come. So, yeah. That includes you,” Lhorne said while looking unsure. “Don’t worry. You are technically included as our kingdom’s heroes. So they won’t kill you outright. The worst they could do is sent you back to this city.”
“Well, if you say so. Okay. I am quite excited to visit Elven cities!” Mattheus shouted.
Now that we have Mattheus onboard, we went into a clothing shop and met a tailor named Anna. She is a black foxkin with a white tail tip.
“Hellow. You are Lily, right? Will you buy a dress? Please, let me sew one for you!”
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
“I apologize, but we are running out of time. Can you give us the best one you have right now?” Lhorne commented. Lily tried some clothes, he body was growing, but her size was quite problematic. Anna then picked up some of the clothes in the store while measuring Lily’s sizes with her eyes. She frowned as she picked the shirt that seemed to match Lily and asked Lily to change her clothes in the changing room.
“This is quite a conundrum. These clothes are too small for her, but these clothes are too big. I can readjust these clothes in several hours. Will you wait?” Anna pondered. She looked at the clean white shirt, green capelet, green skirt, and blue brooch. The clothes suited Lily with her brown hair and my brown white-tipped tail.
It really is a shame that it was a tad too big for Lily. The shirt was sagging on her shoulder and stomach. It is also a little bit too long, but it is covered with a skirt which is then fastened forcibly with a belt. And the capelet reached her arm instead of her elbow. Anna then brought a pair of white knee socks paired with green high heels. But Lily kept tripping with it, so Anna reluctantly switched to green ballerina flat shoes. A green hairpin attached to her forehead, fixing her hair in a well-organized line like a flowing river.
“Okay. We have done our best. Master Lhorne. I would greatly appreciate it if you would be asked about my skill before the coming of the dawn. Preferably before the moon arrived.” Anna said as she sighed
“I Apologize. It is not the coming of the moon but the happenstance of a falling star that requires your assistance. And thus, once again, I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Lots of lords are going to be present.”
“Should we buy clothes for Nora and Mattheus?” Lily asked.
“Yes,” Lhorne answered.
“... the kingdom will pay for it, right?” Nora asked, just to make sure. Mattheus stopped his hand from touching the clothes at once. Lily looked at him aghast. Her clothes seemed stupidly expensive, and she didn’t have a single gold in her wallet.
“I am not sure. I think either Madam Edelweiss or Mister Wharne will foot the bill. But even if not, Lily would clear the debt in a month. She could make 2000 gold each week, if not more, depending on how many feystone she filled. And there is the summoning. She will receive some kind of award there.” Lhorne said in a thinking pose. He already had his clothes, a green cape with a forest barret and an emblem pinned on his shoulder. Now it was just Nora and Mattheus.
“Since Nora and Mattheus don’t have an official title from the high elves, they don’t have any dress code. You may take anything that is clean and neat.” Lhorne continued.
Nora picked a blue dress to compliment her blue fur, while Mattheus chose to be dressed like a bellboy or restaurant waiter. His colossal sword didn’t match him, but he still opted to bring it and would only concede if the elves asked him to surrender it. Nobody complained about it since the road may also be filled with dangerous monsters.
“Okay, let’s go To Regoia!” Lily said as she clenched her fist.
“Whoa, the carriage is also fancy. How did we have time to prepare all of this?” Nora muttered. It was a green carriage with two horses pulling it. The horse was shiningly clean, and the carriage was brand new.
“Wharne prepared it ahead of time. He expected Madam Edelweiss to visit this settlement quite often now that she declared you friends. It really was just finished yesterday. He was shocked that the carriage barely made it here for our use and with such an important summons too.” Lhorne said.
We then depart unto Regoia.
