Chapter 27
----------------------------------------
"Orcs!" The driver shouted. Lily immediately went for her sword, but Lhorne stopped her.
"It's fine. We have two elven guards. Mere orc won't harm us." Lhorne said. And true to his word, the guard decapitated the four orcs that charged at us with ease.
"Hmm, these knights are a lot better than their human counterparts. I wonder why we are losing…." I muttered while looking at the aftermath. We continued our journey and finally reached Regoia.
The guard let us in without a fuss as the driver brought the letter from Edelweiss. This town has no tall walls. A wooden fence guarded the city. It was artistic, yet I wonder about its uses. The elves mainly use bows, right? I thought they would like high places.
Apart from the almost open-ended city, the town was surprisingly similar to humans, although more green and lively since there were flowers everywhere. Some are hung inside a pot, and some are grown in a park.
"Lhorne. They are a lot better than human knights. I wonder why we are losing?" Lily asked. Her words need some work. She was too blatant in her words.
"Please do not compare us to humans! Of course, we are better than them! And we are not losing. It is just that cowardly human that sneaked upon our powerless citizens!" the guards shouted as if they felt insulted. I see they are a little bit prideful that they are susceptible to ambushes. Looking at the city, it finally clicks in. It seemed to have low security. It is only barely enough to defend against normal animal or monster attacks.
"Please don't raise your voice, fellow guardian. She merely had no knowledge of our teachings. Please treat her as a sapling who has not yet felt the light of the sun." Lhorne tried to calm them down.
"Halt! Welcome to Regoia. Humans may not enter!" the gate guard stopped us outside the castle gate. We had no problem entering the city, but we were stopped immediately upon entering the castle.
"We have the invitation from Lady Edelweiss. She asked for the heroes who have saved five of our kin." Lhorne answered.
"Ah! That thing. I heard it was a blessed tailfolk who saved them, not humans." The guard didn't believe us. "Besides, why would humans save elves?"

"The human named Mattheus was a subordinate of Lily, the blessed tailfolk. Together with Nora and me, we raided a human city and freed our kin together with Lily's kin. That is the true tale, fellow guardian." Lhorne replied. The guard reluctantly allowed us with a disgusted face.
"Are we going to be treated like this all the way in Regoia?" Nora asked.
"Humans are hated. That is a fact. Though I have come to believe that some do not deserve such treatment." Lhorne smiled wryly while glancing at Mattheus.
The castle was adorned with a lot of wood furniture. The polished table is symmetrical to the room, and the arrangement of four vases is also symmetrical to the room. The symmetrical pattern of the carpet is as if there were four room side by side. And the four sofas which were currently occupied by us. These elves had OCD, for sure.
"Welcome. You may sit here while I shall brew you tea." the servant then powred. "Lady Edelweis was grateful that you fulfilled her summons at the speed of the northern wind. She would request more time to call the master of hoeth, who also desired to meet you."
We were then left in the waiting room while the servant brought us tea and cookies. Lily walked around the room and looked at the arrangement of the vase. Before she could do anything, Edelweiss opened the door and greeted us.
"Welcome to Regoia, Lily. You racked up achievements so soon after I promoted you. I never thought you would raid a human settlement to save our kin." Edelweiss sipped her tea while smiling.“ I enjoyed everything that happened to them. May you retell the story again?"
Lily then told her the story while Lhorne tried to compliment her narrative. About the pickup, the sudden betrayal, the battle with Silvester, and the raid of the city due to Silvester's blabbermouth
"So, you managed to kill Silvester. Lhorne. Is he the one that…."
"Yes. I have confirmed it. He has that mana slash that destroyed our expedition two years ago."
"I see…" Edelweiss closed her eyes seemed like mourning. "They were good people. We lost a lot in that expedition. But I still wonder why the four of you were able to beat him when several of our hoeth graduates could not. Lily's gift was magic, does she not?"
"Lily was very proficient with swords. Albeit for a short while, she managed to hold her ground against him. The stars were aligned by the heavens that day as we were able to surround him. Had anyone of us been missing, we would not emerge victorious." Lhorne answered.
"And that includes him?" Edelweis glared at Mattheus.
"Yes!"
"So, how big is each person's contribution to that battle?"
"I believe Lily is our top. Followed by Me, then Mattheus, then Nora. But I still need to repeat that everyone was vital on that day. Without Lily, we would be dead in seconds. Without Arrow of Proghethrade, we would not be able to paralyze Silvester. Without Mattheus or Nora, Lily would be unable to hold on against Silvester."
" I see. I hate to admit it, but Matheus contributes to us significantly."
A servant then knocked, and an elderly elf came in.
