Chapter 89 Tales of War Part 1
----------------------------------------
"Lord Lily, several human scouts were seen frolicking on the outskirt of Edenthal forest." The scouts said.
It was not easy traversing Edenthal forest. Without a good guide, you would get lost in the dense jungle. Lily and our bandit group were lost back then and had to fight off a horde of spiders. Apparently, humans were in the same condition. However, because we cleared out those spider dungeons, they could simply cut the bushes and make maps to navigate toward our forest.
"Alright, put all the soldiers on red alert. Call five hundred of our best soldiers, and we will kill or capture them. We must disturb their map progress as much as we can." Lily declared. It was finally time for our abilities to shine. We had been sitting and talking for almost a year, and Lily felt her skill was getting rusty.
As soon as the soldiers were rallied, Lily made a speech. She said, "Everyone! Humans tried to plunder our homes once again. But this time, we are united, and you have trained well for several months. We will expel them from our homes, and they will never again invade us!"
"YEAH!!!" The soldiers screamed.
"This is just a scout, but we must expel them all! Let's fight them together! Let us march to the forest!"
With that, we traveled several hours before dawn, and just when dawn broke, we sighted their camp outside Edenthal Forest. Lily motioned Lhorne to arrange our troops, and preparations were made. We would divide ourselves into two groups of two hundred and fifty and charge them from two directions.
"Ambushes are set. Those scouts won't even know what hit them. We could catch them all. If their heroes or high-leveled soldiers are there, we will slay them. That is our only job, so keep your eyes peeled, Lily." Lhorne replied.
"Heroes? Do they have one?" I asked.
"Hero only referred to the highest leveled troops or the one with blessings. Since they are just a scout, I assume they had no battle-focused blessings. We can do this even though our level is lower than theirs." Lily declared.
Lily has not gained any level in the past half year, so I didn't have anything to do regarding managing her stats. But I can always support her by casting spells. When the sun peeked at the horizon, we saw camps strewn out from outside the forest. Several people were cutting trees as firewood and making some impromptu wooden fort.

"Should I destroy them?" I asked Lily, and she consulted with Lhorne and Mattheus.
"No, if they knew the fire dragon was here, they would dispatch their heroes immediately. We are not ready for that yet. I think we should let the tailfolk assault them while also joining the fray and helping them whenever our soldiers get cornered."
"But a stab from a spear can kill a person," Lily replied. No recovery potions could heal instantly, and healing magic was rare to the extent only Edelweiss had them. Lily knew that no matter what, fatalities from engagement were always there.
"They are soldiers, Lily. Please don't look down on them too much." Lhorne chided her. Lily nodded and whispered to her decarions.
The assault began. Our troops were divided into groups of tens and ran out of the forest while yelling at the soldiers. Screams were heard the soldiers ran for their lives. It was not a complete massacre as some more well-trained soldiers held their ground. However, we outnumbered them, and our soldiers took a flanking maneuver.
"It really shows the quality of their knights if even the sellswords respond better to ambushes than their regular knights." Lhorne snickered at the humans while preparing his bow.
"Can we win?"
"Is that even a question? There were hardly a hundred of them, and we have five hundred. Moreover, they got ambushed. Moreover, we got a blessed person here." Mattheus shrugged. "You only need to watch their commander and kill him to decrease our casualties."
"Ahh! That's your cue, Lily." Lhorne shouted. A bulky man was swinging a giant sword at our soldiers. Three of ours were already down, and it didn't look like he was going down anytime soon.
"I will come in!" Lilu shouted as she dashed toward the battlefield. Like a bullet finding its mark, she drew her saber and performed a sweep-dash at his neck, but he dodged it in the nick of time.
"Who are you? That movement is not bad for our new slaves!" He snickered. Lily didn't pay it any mind and gave him another slash while pressing him on. Even though he had a bigger sword and weight, Lily was faster, and after another slash, she cut off his hand.
"AGH!!!"
"Tie him up. He seemed to be the leader. We need to interrogate him." Lily commanded her soldier with a wink of her gaze. The camp was cleared in mere moments.
"Lhorne…"
"Yeah… I need to warn these guys. They are a little bit hotheaded." Lhorne sighed. "Our casualties are twenty injured while enemy casualties are seventy people. We should be able to capture more, but our soldiers killed them unnecessarily."
"We had no choice! We must kill them all, or our homes will be ravaged once more! We must kill them all!" The soldiers shouted. Their spirit is noteworthy, but we could not accept this attitude.
"You are here to defend our homes. We are not a murderer. If they surrendered, we needed to capture them. Are we clear?" Lily shouted. They could not talk back as they knew Lily was in the same position as them before. She was a slave of the human. While her distaste for humans exists, her hatred didn't turn her into a mass murderer, and she still treated the human bandits fairly in Edenthal.
"Yes, ma'am! We are sorry, ma'am!" They gave a salute and apologized obediently. The battle has already begun.
The next day came with another surprise as a letter from Sana came to them and asked them to go to Fort Soleil.
