Chapter 22
----------------------------------------
I cast a fireball at the river, creating a colossal steam blocking our view. In that gap, we came forward and started another bout of combat.
"Heh, is that all you got? People are overestimating magic blessings! You are still trash!" Silvester mocked, "How come a beast slave like you managed to gain a blessing, huh? The gods must have made a mistake. I am going to correct that now!"
"Lily, draw the battle closer to that tree," I said while monitoring the surroundings. I tried to guide him to the tree where Lhorne's arrow was stuck.
"Damn it! I have no choice but to butt in if I wanted to survive this shithole!" Mattheus screamed as he threw a rock in our direction. Silvester dodged it with ease. We used that gap and followed up with a pincer attack. Not yet, His guard isn't down. I only had one chance.
"Insects!"
He tripped Mattheus down, but he couldn't deal the finishing blow since Lily threatened him. Silvester once again occupied with us and let Mattheus recover his foothold.
"I can die in peace if I can at least get one good hit at that fucking noble face of yours!" Mattheus spat as he readied his buster sword. "die!"
I cast a fireball
An arrow flew.
Nora threw her dagger.
Mattheus swung his sword from the front.
Lily stabbed him from the back.
A perfect sync. Our team was just formed yesterday, and the members hated each other, but Lhorne managed to sync with us. His arrow never misses amidst the heated battle. Silvester dodged the arrow, blocked the dagger, and spun around, deflecting Lily and Mattheus's sword with his blade. This monster was brutal. But I got the chance I wanted. A stab to his torso. He can't possibly dodge this!
As we were thrown away, the arrow managed to stab him in his left flank. He quickly spat as he pulled it out and chased us.
"Lily!" Nora stepped in and tried to support us, but she was thrown away with a single slash as Silvester committally chased us. His eye dyed with madness like a cornered rat. Another arrow flew in our direction, but Silvester still chased us and ignored it. The arrow stabbed into his back, but he continued to pursue us.
"Ahh!!" Silvester gave a mighty sweep, and our sword was thrown away. His next slash hit home and a red trail of blood traced from Lily's shoulder to her flank. Lily was thrown away, and blood gushed from her wounds.

"Lily!" Nora shouted, but Silvester was already in front of us.
"Little beast scuttering around. You just knew a little magic trick. Time to die!" he smirked. Why isn't the paralysis working? Did his blessing give him a cheat to ignore poisons? Damn it. We are dead!
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
He suddenly dropped his sword. He looked bewildered as his leg gave out and knelt in a stupor.
"Finally! I thought the poisons didn't work." Lhorne strolled to us while readying another arrow.
"Fucking slaves! I will kill you!" Silvester shouted, but his words were only met with another arrow to his stomach. His face no longer showed arrogance but fear. Tears started to form in his eyes as he looked toward us. His body shook as he knew he no could no longer fight back.
"Lily. Use this. This is a healing potion. I only have one, so you should use it."
"But Nora and Mattheus are injured too," Lily said weakly.
"We are fine. It is just a scratch." Nora said while covering her belly.
"I would be a laughing stock if some bruises like these warrant healing potions! Don't worry about me." Matthus said.
Lhorne generously poured the potion into Lily's wound. The wound stopped bleeding, and the skin was restored. Lily's breathing calmed down as she relaxed.

"The potion will not restore your blood, so you might feel a little lightheaded. But you are safe now." Lhorne said while exhaling.
"What are we going to do with him?" Nora asked, pointing to Silvester. He shuddered at us since he knew that we were going to kill him.
"Wait. I am Silvester Berhondst! I will be a duke next year after I marry princess Tiana. If you kill me, you will make the whole kingdom your enemy!" He shouted. The elves and the human are technically at war right now. His words mean nothing.
Lhorne smiled while walking to Silvester. He held his mouth as if he was about to laugh out loud.
"Well, that's funny, aren't you the arrogant human that invaded our country? Your head would fetch an excellent price in my country. Well, unlike you humans, I have no hobby of collecting human heads as a trophy, so after submitting the proof, I will dispose of your head as fertilizer. "
"I-I can promise you lands or wealth these lowly elves will never give you. If you let me go, I will give it to you. I never broke a promise." He looked towards Mattheus.
"Sorry, pal. I know we are fellow humans, but I don't wanna help nobles. You see, I am on the wanted list by Gron." Mattheus sarcastically answered.
"Gron is nothing compared to my life. I can give his position to you!"
"I see. But you see, I have been betrayed by nobles. I am not sure that you will not do the same," Mattheus smirked while enjoying the show. Not every day you get a noble to grovel before your eye. He seemed to enjoy teasing him even though he knew he would not spare his life.
"I am unlike other nobles! I never broke a promise! "
"Well, I trust you. But it's futile. You see, I am actually their slave now, so I am sorry that I can't help you." Mattheus laughed as he ended his play and left. He went to the river to clean his wounds.
"Lily. You are my brother's pet. What kind of a dog bites its own master? Protect me!" he shouted. So he was fine groveling to others but still took that attitude to us?
Lily twitched, but she soon regained her composure. "Sorry, Master Silvester. But I am no longer a slave. I wish to rebuild a tailfolk kingdom just like before you destroyed them. I love Nora and other tailfolk in the elven village. The elves are nice, But that is not our home. The tailfolk desire a place to call home. The green savanna where we can run with all our might. Where families gathered and laughed together. Where we are free. I will not help you."
I was amazed at her speech. This is the beginning of a new era. I wish to witness it. Her journey to the very end. Oops! Now is not the time to be amazed by Lily. Silvester is still here. But it seems the group already decided to leave the finishing blow to Lhorne, who has lost his comrade directly to Silvester.
"Hey! Life for a life. If you free me, I will release two of my elven slaves!"
"Stop talking!" He swung his sword at Silvester. His head flew in a beautiful arc as it flopped down to the ground with anguish on his face.
