Chapter 106 Lonely Tail

Chapter 106 Lonely Tail

----------------------------------------

"What is that?" Lhorne looked at the worm-like creature rushing to us. However, it didn't attack us but ate the crystals where titan ore is.

Titanite Abyss worm

A worm that eats titan ore for nourishment. It is protected by rugged and durable titanite, its ramming attack could kill even the toughest warriors, and its body liquid could melt even the hardest armor. Do not stand in its way. Its weak spot is located in its eye. Hit it and pierce through the brain.

I quickly grew a fire javelin and pierced through its skull just like the appraisal told me to. It was easy to kill it once you knew how. However, once I killed one, the other worms snapped their view at me and crawled to us. Over thirty of them were dragging their bodies to us suddenly.

"They are coming here!"

"Why did you kill the first one?" Nora asked

"I thought we could harvest the titan ores once they eat through the crystals!!" Lily moaned.

They were slow, but their numbers kept increasing from every direction in this vast cave. We were soon cornered as the exit was nowhere to be seen, and their numbers increased by the minute.

"Lily, we should stop running and kill them. If their numbers increased again, then it would be a problem!" Lhorne said as we ran towards nowhere.

"Ugh… Let's go. Guard Nora!" Lily shouted.

"Lhorne! Put me down. I will not let Lily fight by herself!"

"Nora! There is nothing you can do. These monsters were impervious to attacks unless you targeted its eye. Only my magic and Lhorne's arrow could do that!" Lily shouted as panic started to show in her eyes. At her urging, I molded my magic and formed fire javelins while Lhorne prepared his bow,

"Damn it…" Nora cursed as she stayed helpless on Lhorne's back. Ily charged toward the approaching worm trying to divert its attention off Lhorne and Nora. I was busy casting spells left and right during this period. I put extra attention to my magic to make them accurately hit their vitals. I could see arrows sometimes fly by our heads towards the worm's eye.

A few hours later, we finished off the thirty monsters, and all of them turned into feystones. Lily sprawled on the ground, exhausted. Lhorne was busy collecting his arrows back As Nora was sitting by Lily the entire time and molesting my tail. After combing my tail, she stood up, walked limply, and tried to scout the area while Lhorne was lying down and catching his breath with Lily.

Nora didn't travel very far and came back soon after a while. She walked naturally now, and apparently, her leg injury wasn't as bad as it looked.

"I can walk now. I also can do light jogging but battling would be difficult. I am about half as fast as I normally would." Nora reported.

"If you can at least move by yourself, that is plenty," Lhorne replied, looking satisfied.

"By the way, I didn't know you had appraisal eyes. How did you get it?" Nora asked.

"Oh yeah. Without it, we would have a lot more trouble against that worm. This is the first time you have entered this dungeon. You could not possibly know their weak spot without appraisal eyes." Lhorne muttered. I have had appraisal eyes since forever. You guys just never see it.

"Since last year."

"Oh! Another perk of your blessings?"

"No. It comes with Shiro!" She hugged me. Nora was baffled, but she didn't ask further. We continued on with the journey and found an exit to the cave. Lily and Lhorne picked as many titan ores as they could carry. Only about twenty kilograms of it, and left the cave. If we found the other members, we would return to this place again and mine the rest of Titan ores.

" Should we rest for a bit more? I think you are forcing yourself, Lord Lily."

"No. We need to press on. We need to find the others." The path continues on. The darkness made us uneasy. If not for our light, we would not survive. After traversing the meandering cave, We rested on some corners of the walls. I asked Lily to rest since we were exhausted. She still wanted to press on but relented when she looked at Lhorne and Nora.

"Thank you, Lily!" Lhorne and Nora drank the water that was made using Lily's magic. Her feystone glimmer in the dark cave.

"I would love to sleep but we could not let Lily stand guard by herself all the time," Nora said. She looked at her legs.

"Don't worry. I can sleep while maintaining the fireballs. You can see our surroundings with fire this big, right?"

"Really? You can use magic while sleeping?" Nora asked.

"Ah, now that you mention it, you can certainly do it before when we visited the dwarven country and had to flee them because of the epidemic," Lhorne commented at the wonder during our nights at the mountain pass. Nora didn't realize it because she was already asleep at that time.

"Alright. Good night!" Lily then slept immediately at the corner of the wall by using her capelet as a pillow. Her fox ears snuffed comfortably at the clothes. I didn't need to sleep and maintained the fireball while Lhorne and Nora chatted.

"Who is going to keep guard?" Lhorne asked while lowering his voice. Afraid of waking Lily up. He seemed unsure if LIly actually slept.

"I will. I am the most useless member of this group. Both of you gonna need your strength tomorrow."

"But I think that's why we also need you to recover as fast as possible, Nora." He said.

"Come on, Lhorne, you know who is more useful even if I am in full health. Your eyes are worth more in this dark cave." Nora said sarcastically.

"Well, even if that's true, if you think I will abandon you for that, you are sorely mistaken. I swore never to abandon my comrades ever again."

"I see. We are comrades, huh? I think I understand your previous comrade's feelings. Who were they again? Feth?"

"They are Nean, Shalie, and Feth." Lhorne's eyes continued to wander as he continued his talk.

"They must have been wanting their friends to live," Nora said, her voice trembling as she held out her cry.

The group continued to chat until Nora fell asleep. After a few more hours, Nora was awake, and Lhorne asked her to guard the area using her ears. He also told Nora to wake him if Lily's fire ever ran out but not to wake her. What a considerate fellow.
