Chapter 76 Assessment Tail
----------------------------------------
"Alright. So, to be blunt. I could not let you send all of your armies like this. We shall allow up to five hundred troops to pad our troops. Before that, they would require some intensive training before we could send them into war with the undead." Ghander noted
"However, I noticed some fascinating weapons and armor that you use. It massively decreased the weight of armor and was a lot cheaper too. This mock battle has been rather fruitful. We might need this armor later."
"I see. Thank you for your fair review Lord Ghander."
"You are welcome." He then sized them up again. "Please keep me in contact, okay. These troops of yours are not hopeless. Merely untrained. They would have the same quality as swordsman graduates in three or four years. But we don't have the time and could not send them to their deaths. Can't we?"
"You are certainly right. But I believe the undead needed this much resolve, no?" Lily answered her.
"I see. I am certainly ashamed that the central nobles seemed to have less resolve than you. I can see your resolve on these recruits. Keep training them. Even when we did not need them during the undead assault, we might need them elsewhere." Ghander smiled as he left. "Ahh, one more thing! I will confiscate fifty of these wooden armors and present them for our high councils."
"Do you wish to use these armors?" Lily tilted her head. Ghander seemed more interested in the armor and weapons rather than our armies. "This isn't the standard armor for elves, right?"
"Yes. We mainly use elven steel for our armor and shield plating; however, since iron ores have been very scarce lately, our supply could not meet up with the demand. If we use your method, however, we could employ swordsman graduates immediately."
"But I don't think swordsman graduate will be able to use these armors very well."
"You simply needed to level them. Bring them to dungeons. As long as they are taught how to cooperate with each other, their strength and speed are irrelevant. I didn't diss your army for their power. But I simply gave advice on cooperation."
"Ahh, we needed to bring them to dungeons."
"Yes. Your army was really low-level. Standard troops needed to be at least level 20. however, yours are barely level five, I think. Leveling five thousand warriors are going to take a lot of work. Still, Edenthal has three dungeons that spawned monsters do they not?"

"I was told not to use them as they would be used as a deterrent against humans…." Lily complained.
"You are the lord now. That is no longer an excuse. You should not clear those dungeons. However, you should farm experience points from there."
"Yes. I think I also needed more leveling. I am barely a soldier by your standards, right?" Lily complained, "I am only level twenty, after all."
"Oh, you are only level twenty? You are powerful for level twenty." Ghander looked at us, surprised. "Well, maybe a blessing played a part too. My level could not rise higher than 200. I wonder where your limit is."
Huh? This is the first time I heard there be a level cap. The system didn't tell me how much exp I needed to level up, either. I hope we at least could go as high as Edelweiss."
"If you haven't reached the pinnacle of your power, you need to level up some more. Go to dungeons and kill monsters." Ghander advised. "Do it quickly. We need all power we can get. Humans are moving oddly."
"Huh? Humans?"
"Yeah, they agreed to the non-aggression treaty, but they had a prior offense, you know…." Ghander frowned. "We would need as many soldiers as we can. Ahh, Lily, You had human friends, right?"
"Huh? Yeah?"
"Do you think they can be trusted?"
"Yes. I can trust them as much as I trust Lhorne and Nora."
"I see. Could I trouble those human friends of yours to spy on human lands? Suppose we know their troop's movement or their important people with blessing locations. In that case, we could plan out if they decided to betray us."
"Sure, I will talk to them. Jack was the son of a noble from humans. I could ask him out." Lily spoke out.
"I see. Well, this is a secret mission, though. We will not publicly declare that we enlisted humans as our cooperators. So, your decision about the officer's position was denied. You may not bring Mattheus in undead subjugation." Ghander explained.
"Eh….. I am a lord, though."
"You are a lord in your territory. They could farm or give some menial jobs but not a commander of troops." Ghander sighed.
"Mattheus is not a bad person, though…." Lily pouted. These elves needed to put their racism out for a bit. They are so isolated and have no friends. No wonder they died out. They were just like that guys who were in their own world at the corner of their classroom. I was like that, too, so I could not criticize them,
"He will be needed elsewhere." Ghander smiled. "If humans attacked, their target is most likely Regoia or Edenthal."
"Ehh?" Not Northlangard or Reminiscence?" Lily asked. From her studies in geography, Fort Soleil is the most optimal target. Or even Northlangard itself. Sure, if they wanted to take our behinds, they would go straight to Edenthal. Still, we don't have anything there in Edenthal forest. With various harassment and ambushes from our side, the supply of their troops will be a nightmare even if they manage to get out of those forests.
"Yeah. That's why we needed spies. We don't know which city they will attack. So, I trust you to bring me some good news." Ghander smiled. "I hope this information will motivate you. Your own region is also at risk."
Ghander left for real this time, and we returned to Edenthal with our defeated troops. The troops were feeling down due to their defeat but Lily encourage them by saying that Ghander view them all as promising soldiers. She also told them they would participate in the undead campaign after more training with actual troops.
