Chapter 54: Blood Feud

Chapter 54: Blood Feud

It had been misled!

The target of their vengeance had been the coward, hiding away from combat, all along. How dare that human child watch gleefully as proud warriors fall to his venomous plans. But, to exact justice would not be easy with the humans standing in their way.

Nay, it shall not let any more of its brethren die in a viper’s snare.

The Orc armies stopped their assault as one, while a small group of elites - the Orc Knights – broke through the enemy forces and rushed to the front. In blurring speed, they surrounded Calculus’ unit by forming a circle.

The students visibly paled. They had seen only when an Orc Knight took action on the field once, but it was enough to snub the arrogance of this particular group of nobles.

Although their leader could be considered the second highest ranked practitioner in the first years, they were entirely outmatched, even with the treasures their families had given them. If the Orc King decreed it, then no doubt this small group would be massacred before anyone else could help. After all, it is their own fault for standing apart from the rest.

However, with the Knights behind enemy lines, the Orcs would risk losing their strongest force.

The Orc Knights stood at attention, prepared to stop any human that comes close to the figure of the young Orc King appeared before Calculus.

It roared its challenge at Calculus, throwing the carcass of a pig towards him which lands before his feet.

Even without a means of communication, all that saw it understood that it is a duel that the Orc wants.

But those who know the Orc race well will understand that this is not just any kind of duel, but a sign of a blood feud. If this fight results in Calculus’ loss or retreat, the Orcs will not stop until Calculus, and his clan are exterminated.

“Hahahaha! This stupid animal seeks to challenge Me? It truly lacks brains, as expected of mere monsters. How could a stupid beast be my match?” Calculus said while laughing, his cohort near him snickering in response.

“What can you expect from Orcs? They are no smarter than pigs,” his supporter says.

“Exactly, hahaha. However, I must say that it does have good discerning abilities to notice my superiority and knows that I am the biggest threat here.

Well, dumb Orc, if you wish to die that much I’ll be glad to send you straight to hell.

I will let you know your mistake of challenging me!

That all you are worth to me is the points from your severed head.”

Calculus walked forward through the circle of his friends and picked up the dead pig.

In his mind, he is invincible. Even the two times he was defeated by Kairos was merely due to the peasant boy’s foul trickery while Jones who does not have access to as many resources is someone he would eventually overcome. With how moronic the Orcs are, there is no way in hell he would lose.

Calculus daringly approached, stopping right in front of the one who dared to challenge him. Adjusting the bandana that concealed his shiny baldness one last time, he threw the dead pig back towards the Orc King’s face.

The carcass was smashed into dust by a single backhand. Even so, Calculus walked bravely stared down the young Orc, not knowing that it is the legendary King of the Orcs.

He unsheathed his Chinese long sword as bloodlust rolled off from him.

The Orc King saw his body language and felt his insolence, and suddenly it wishes to smash that annoying human boy’s face into the ground. It could respect a warrior that is brave, but this is different.

You dare bare your fangs at me, mutt? You who have slain the innocent children of my clan, DARE?

*RARRRRRGGGGHHH!!*

With a fearsome roar, a tyrannical power that had been hiding within the Orc King unchained itself and manifested as a glowing aura around it. The glow is not of the colour of elements that Ki barriers are made of, nor is it the purplish glow of magic barriers, but a silverish-black aura that threatens to envelop everything.

“Magic Lord Aura? So what! Do you also think yourself special just like Jones, because you have a unique presence? Who do you think you are fooling? You believe yourself to be the Legendary Orc King? HAH!”

The young King could not understand his words, but its anger continued to rise, and then it let out a loud roar!

The crown on the top of its head started glowing brighter than before, and then it rushed forward, carving a sword arc downwards.

Calculus blocked the attack with a smirk. A greenish aura flickered around him as he took the blow of this brainless beast. Not seeing the crown on its head, the boy counterattacked by sending ten piercing Ki bursts that flew towards it.

However, Luciette who saw the crown gasped in alarm.

“Calculus! It IS an Orc King!”

“WHATTT!? Are you joking? Damn it damn it damn it! What the hell!” He shouts and leapt backwards in fright.

There is a fundamental difference between an Orc King and the other War Beasts.

As the King of the Orcs, Nature herself nourishes it with heavenly energies. It takes in as much as it could, but only absorbing the purest concentration while the leftovers will then be shared among its troops, strengthening them to protect their King.

Although the Orc Knights are also at Entry C rank like the Orc King, there is a large difference in their strength. Calculus looked carefully at it again and took in a sharp, shattered, breath. From its dominating aura which burns with power, there is no doubt that this is a legendary being!

Arrogance had blinded him.

He forced himself to calm down, but no matter how hard he tried, he only felt more afraid. He hissed in anger because in his mind he is the most superior among his peers. His pride made it unthinkable for him to be fearful of a lowly Orc.

“This is a chance to outshine that upstart Jones!

Over and over. Over and OVER! HE DARED TO STEP ABOVE ME!

A Mere Commoner. A Peasant’s background.

I will SHOW him!

I will kill this leader of Orcs and prove to everyone in the school that I AM the true number one!

And then, I will destroy everything belonging to him, including that ‘brother’ of his, KAIROS!”

The ten Ki blasts bounced off harmlessly from its thickly muscled body.

The Orc King stared curiously at how Calculus attacks and it carefully looked at its opponent’s movements.

At this moment, Luciette forcefully breaks through the circle of Orc Knights by herself in an attempt to aid Calculus. After knowing that the opponent is an Orc King, as one of the strongest fighters among the first years, she could not simply watch.

They were hardly worried about Calculus even if the enemy was an abnormally strong Orc Knight. The difference between C rank and D rank may be huge, but the boy wasn’t just a normal heir but named as the next family head, and the Devilheart family would not have lacked in giving him life-preserving artefacts or secret techniques.

But their previous estimation was completely invalidated.

They all know that even if Calculus is the same rank as the Orc King, it would still be able to handle him with ease! Because, alike Calculus, Jones, and Kairos, the King also has the power to challenge those above its rank.

If the Orc King is not especially strong for its rank, it would have been a simple matter in the past to slay it and exterminate the Orcs.

Yet, somehow Calculus managed to delude himself once more that he could still win.

This Orc King is still young, but it has already grown to two meters in height from Nature’s care. The speed of it ranking up far surpasses most other beings.

After their hatchery was raided, its desire to strengthen its race only grew fervent.

It started to wrestle with Nature herself to gather more power, and like a loving mother, Nature poured more of her Heavenly Energies into the young King helping it to grow rapidly.

However, these all stopped after that fateful day when it encountered Kairos in the forest. Ever since that day, no matter how hard it tried to gather more energy from Nature, it received the usual amount.

It does not doubt the reason for this was because of that voice that lingered in the air that night which still resounded in its head.

“Do not interfere!”

Somehow all the living things nearby could hear this voice, and they could understand what the words are meaning although the language itself sounded foreign and strange.

Nature must have stopped giving it an abundant supply, because of those words. It couldn’t help feeling sullen that its ‘mother’ is no longer as generous as before.

It could understand that it was not abandoned but to act against the owner of that voice was an impossibility.

Even so, it did not stop. It could not stop. Vengeance needs to be repaid in blood, and finally, it has found the true target of their blood feud.

This is a fortunate thing too because if the Orc King continued attacking Kairos and then found out that Kairos’ voice sounded the same as the voice of that superior being’s, it might have been too late to order a retreat. After all, in its mind, it is still thanking the gods that the voice did not ask Nature to stop her help or surely their race will perish.

The Orc Knights tried to stop Luciette from intruding, but a grunt from their leader stopped them.

Their King has shown acceptance to Luciette’s presence in his duel. It knows that she too is a leader of the humans, but she is merely at Peak E rank and not a threat at all. Defeating her will bode well for their race after all.

The Orc Knights quickly fall back into their ranks, preventing anyone else from coming into the duel. Locking up Calculus and Luciette in the circle.

How utterly shameful! Does this woman think I need saving?

Calculus thought furiously.
