B4, Chapter 25: Byakko Combat Form

Everyone close to Tommy felt that they were engulfed by the wrath of a dangerous beast. The previous fights had snapped something in him and his fighting spirit reached an all-time-high.

Above his brows black stripes like a tiger’s appeared forming three strokes across a one stroke down. The appearance of the character Wang (王), the ancient word for ruler, announced the presence of a warrior king that the Frosthral barbarians will come to fear and respect.

His irises transformed into shimmering blue cat eyes as a violent burst of power rushed out of him followed by an earthshattering roar.

The very air tremored uncontrollably and those with weaker constitution coughed out blood and fainted.

It was the power only a monster would have.

“You’re right… he is giving off freakish bad vibes,” the barbarian standing near the front whispered and started backing away.

The others, however, did not cower away. They are still warriors by blood and not many could withstand the shame of losing without a fight, moreover, they could tire Tommy out by sheer numbers.

If they retreated just because of the enemy’s presence, it will be too embarrassing.

A wave of black plasma washed over them.

Blood curling screams erupted from those around. No matter how powerful their bodies are, the plasma gave them burns horrible enough to cause them to keel over with pain.

It wouldn’t take their lives, for this is merely an outburst of the power Tommy is giving off.

Those standing further behind were luckier. Their skin looked badly scalded instead of being burnt, but they had also lost their ability to fight.

The row after them somehow managed to persist with their formidable resilience, but because everything happened too quickly, they had no chance to put up a shred of defence and their strength already been weakened to half of their prime.

If they were internal cultivators, not only the first two groups, it is possible that a third of the thirty thousand would’ve been burned to death by the scorching plasma.

Yet, this fearsome heat is something that could increase as Tommy’s cultivation rises.

In almost an instance, two thousand barbarians were out commission, and the fight had barely begun.

The guy that had backed off previously is now in the worst condition of them all. He had pushed another forward to test Tommy’s condition after fighting Swordy and Sword Slave.

If there was a chance, he would’ve leapt forward. The fame for victory would secure his place in the north. Even if the promotion trial is usually fair, there are times when the trial challenger succeeds without a fight, especially when the person is highly respected.

Unfortunately, Tommy’s condition looked horrifying but his wounds did not diminish much of his strength.

Just by his battle aura alone a natural phenomenon of such scale and power occurred.

The barbarian noticed something was wrong and retreated quickly but is still so badly burnt that he couldn’t lift a single without feeling immense pain. Yet because of the distance he created, his injuries are not enough to send him into a blissful abyss and he could only stare at Tommy with eyes mixed with fear and anger.

“What sorcery was that? He must’ve cheated. Even if he completes the trial I will never acknowledge him! He said that he came from Avalon? Pifff, don’t make me laugh. He probably murdered the real one and took his place.”

Before his eyes, Tommy’s figure started flickering. The strange image was from interchanging black and white flashes that make the world seem monochrome.

A single swirl of black energy appeared in one of his palm while a ball of pure white in another.

He slammed the two different powers together forcing them to fuse into a single sphere but the two colours did not mix.

Tommy’s next action shocked everyone.

He directed the strange ball towards his face and drank most of it like it was a strange liquid.

The rest of it, he smeared them across his eyes causing the shimmering blue to start glowing brightly.

“Byakko Combat Form (白虎战体),” he announced with a smile.

Tommy’s wounds had not healed, his energy did not recover, and his fatigue was the same as before. However, there was an obvious change from just now and his presence had become heavy and ominous.

What he had consumed was the unaltered power of his contract beast. The white kitten had displayed a power to toss giant creatures around with its tiny body, and for a while, Tommy will be able to use that strength.

He charged forward at a speed ten times faster than his Lighting Flicker Body alone, those that he barely brushed past were sent hurling away by an unreasonable brutal strength.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

The entire path behind him that he barrelled through became a crevice as his figure became a blur.

Those in his way felt that they were facing down the horn of a Calamity class beast.

For an instance, Tommy’s physical strength had been raised to the level of pseudo Immortal physical rank under the combined might of Lightning Flicker Body and Byakko Mode.

There is one other skill he used in order to attain such powers temporarily, a martial art that he recently mastered; the Eternal Empyrean: Burst.

Even the skies above rumbled and darkened, as thunder clouds gathered.

When someone or something reached the level of power belonging to the immortal realms, the Heavenly Tribulation will begin. While Tommy had not truly stepped into the transcension phase, his strength from unleashing this combined technique is enough to darken the heavens – an indication that tribulation is preparing to begin.

As he charged towards the edge of the group, he stamped a foot down and quickly changed directions back into the crowd.

That single step of his was filled with the full-blown strength of Eternal Empyrean: Burst, and it caused the cracked ground to fissure.

Those unfortunate to be caught in the way were tossed around like salad, albeit ones that are screaming off the top of their lungs.

Tommy hurtled through the crowd many more times before he became winded, colliding with everyone that couldn’t avoid him in time.

By now a day and night had already passed, but unfortunately the number he had taken out so far are only a little over five thousand. The barbarians are hardy fighters that a little bump wouldn’t be able to finish the battle, still he managed to make a little dent in their numbers.

When he stopped moving to take a breath, everyone finally noticed the wounds on his body had visibly worsened.

Despite his powerful physique, there were still attacks that could harm him. His flesh was stronger than the weaker immortals but the open wounds from before became weak points.

Although most injuries are still manageable with his powerful constitution, the two long gashes across his body had been ripped apart.

However, most of the damage was done to himself by operating at a power above his grade.

Without a doubt, seeing his current condition attracted the scattered barbarians to band together again in assault.

“I am the harbinger of the thunderous night.”

A single line of incantation, deep and rumbling, escaped from Tommy’s lips.

Afterwards, snow started fluttering down brought about by gusts of wind.

Tommy looked at those staring at him but without daring to take a step forward. Before they figure out what his incantation do, they dare not take a risk or things might go down like previously.

Everyone had been astounded by the number of trump cards that Tommy threw out and feared what may happen next.

For a moment, the twenty five thousand remaining barbarians seemed like the challengers instead.

“If you guys aren’t going to come, then I’ll go over.”

After saying thus, Tommy bolted forward and charged into the crowd.

His fighting method is similar to how it was when the trial first begun, but it is obvious that his injuries are now hindering him.

His power is still enough to take down anyone below the War Chief rank who face him with a single punch, but with his bleeding not staunched, it’s impossible for him to last for long.

The others behind did see what the incantation do except for some wind and snow, and soon they joined the battle.

Unfortunately, at any one time, only around four to five people could attack Tommy at the same time.

After chanting that one line of shortened Secret Art incantation, there wasn’t anything strange that happened.

The barbarians worked themselves into a battle frenzy once again and they attacked without fear until Tommy sent them out of the world of the conscious.

The hands of time turn slowly. In the heat of battle, the energy usage is more than a hundred times normally, but without realising, another day already passed. During this time, another five thousand collapsed.

Tommy was defeating an average of three to four fighters every minute without stop. After so many hours, the barbarians finally started doubting his endurance.

“Even if he is at Titan rank… is it possible?”

“It’s obvious he isn’t slowing down.”

“He’s a monster.”

“Yeah right. Watch me cut off the monster’s head. HEUK… AHHHHH…”

“Another idiot fainted.”

The barbarians might feel confused at first, but quickly, there are those who realised something strange.

“Say, isn’t the weather getting really bad?”

“Yeah, the snow is falling heavier than ever.”

“The gusts of wind too. I didn’t noticed before when I was terrified, but now, just standing here is draining me out.”

While those that are fighting Tommy didn’t notice, or they simply didn’t have the time to notice before they were knocked out with a punch, those at the back waiting for their turn to fight are feeling the chill.

Even as northerners who are used to the cold, they felt their body heat losing quickly and many of them started using their Ki to protect themselves.

If this carries on, even before facing Tommy, many will become unable to fight.

“Then how could he be fighting so long?” someone suddenly asked.

“Idiot, he is moving nonstop, his body heat could obviously deflect the cold.”

“No, that’s still too strange. With his wounds and blood loss, his body shouldn’t be able to keep up.”

“Didn’t he chant something before the blizzard started? Maybe this is his doing and he isn’t affected?”

This explanation caused everyone’s faces to pale. If such a trap was set then it will be too frightening.

Not only will they be slowly defeated, they could do nothing to prevent it even if they know.

Lightning wasn’t the only element that Tommy honed for the past few years. His ice and wind affinity had also reached a new level.

The shortened incantation of his secret art changed the entire battlefield into a snowy domain that will leech the strength from his enemies.

Of course, as the caster, Tommy wasn’t affected by the inhibiting cold and savage winds. Instead, the weather greatly improved his condition, making his every movement faster and stronger than normally.

The wind uplifted him while it buffeted the others. The cold cooled him while it chilled his enemies.

However, this isn’t Tommy’s abilities.

He only could remain without being negatively affected.

These benefits he enjoy all came from his contract beast.

After fusing with it, he realised that the little kitten is a tiger’s cub, and not just any but a great beast of ice storms.

Unfortunately, this is all Tommy could discover because the little one is still too young and the memories hidden in its bloodline had yet to unlock.

But one thing remains certain: Only the more powerful races could seal information and techniques into the bloodlines for descendants to unravel. The origin of the white kitten is undoubtedly ancient and powerful.

Tommy in the Byakko Combat Form gained more than physical strength; some of the inherent abilities of his beast had also become available for use and it allowed him to fight fiercely in this arena.

He is at least a fifth stronger than usual, but unfortunately, his wounds are also wearing him down while worsening.

Slowly, his hands became like lead and his feet refused to obey. His vision blurred as he tried unfruitfully to focus.

The attacks stacked upon his shoulders, until it is only because of his Titan rank physique that is keeping him up.

The snow never stopped, but the barbarians that saw the light dim in Tommy’s eyes felt hope that the fight will soon be over and they renewed their assault.
