Watching the demise of their companions, many of the assassins broke out of the trace of her song.
Even with dozens of lives in their hands, they felt chilled to the bones when facing the unknown techniques Relestia uses.
The lion she summoned is impervious to their attacks and resists even acids and poisons that could take down a demon beast.
Little would they expect that in the eyes of a Nemean Lion, a demon beast is but a runt of a previously devil-possessed creature.
Gaia is considered rather high on the ranking amongst the mortal realms while in some worlds that Kairos had heard about is completely devoid of mana and Heavenly Energies.
The higher form of energy a world possesses, the stronger its creatures will be.
It’s unsurprising that the Nemean Lion is far more superior to any creature that the denizens of Axis had seen before.
At the same time, Ki is also a much higher form of energy comparable to concentrated mana. To be able to enthral all the assassins can be mostly accredited to Relestia’s status as a Cultivator.
It’s unfortunate that her other summon, the Greater Water spirit, Triteia, is in a comatose state or Relestia is confident she can wipe them out by herself.
Protecting the princess from the devil, the elemental was brought to the brink of death. This was merely because a weakened devil passed through Triteia to get into Relestia’s body. It is no wonder that the powerful Elementals had to hide from the devil race in a secret realm of their own.
Her foes instantly realised they are not a match against her. At least not in a frontal battle.
“O… omega! She is an Omega level threat too!”
“No way! We can’t take two Omega threats.”
“The information was wrong! Retreat, everyone full retreat!”
The assassins scattered in frenzy. Their behaviour are not much different from the people they killed in the past. No matter how level-headed they usually are on a mission, it is on the premise when they held advantage over their targets. This time, they are the prey while the 14 year old girl is the hunter.
As they fled, they enchanted themselves with different acceleration spells. Some held magical daggers that could give them a boost, or crushed spell stones that buffed their feet.
Suddenly, the one furthest away and most likely to get away started running back. His companions were in shock, thinking that there might be reinforcements from the dwarves until he started shouting in pure fear, “What are you all doing, hurry and run away!”
They looked at him confused.
“Isn’t the exit at that direction?” someone said as she run off in the way she pointed. However, the other only see her dashing across to the side instead of away.
Ignoring her, another tried to run away from Relestia, but he too moved aimlessly.
Even if they tried to go in the same direction they will make a wrong turn.
The assassins are not fools. In seconds they already realised something is wrong and are thinking of a way out.
*Gururuuuu*
A strange gurgling broke them out of their thoughts. The assassins quickly scanned for the source of the sound, and what they saw caused men who deal with death to shake in their boots.
A translucent hyena with glowing yellowish bit through the throat of the woman who had been dashing towards the side.
Then, another gurgling sound was heard. This time from the one running towards Relestia instead of away.
At this time, another song was heard. The assassins paled in fear. This time, who will die?
However, it came from another person this time. The spellsinger, Lulatia, held her hands together and started a face-paced song. One that revved up one’s blood and cause the heart to thump.
For the assassins, they felt panicked, as if a blade is placed on their necks.
For Kairos’ group, they felt strengthened like they were doused in dragon blood.
The singing had stopped, but the music remained in everyone’s ears. Unlike Gaia’s combat techniques, the spell cannot stir up the inner Ki of Cultivators. Instead it enhances or weakens one’s physique.
With the gnomes slowed down and the team strengthened, they attacked in haste. Once the assassins snap out of their fear and understand it is impossible to get away with Clef around, they will start attacking desperately and things will change. Although undoubtedly all the assassins will die, many from Kairos’ group will definitely be dead or severely wounded.
Relestia’s knife was cold and merciless, as though the ones before her are mere dolls.
Clef summoned more and more hyenas with his aura until a hunting pack was formed.
In the midst of all the chaos, Lulatia walked in the middle, not fearing any attacks at all. After all, her magic shields will protect her automatically. At the same time, she is actively watching out for every member’s safety.
Kairos remained at the centre controlling the formation. The spell that Lulatia used to help direct everyone’s movement had been passed to him.
Boink the bodyguard stood next to Kairos, ready to protect him from any sudden attacks.
As expected, when the two was unmoving, they became prime targets for the assassins.
Most of the attacks were defended by Boink, but he is only one man and there are over twenty assassins left in this place.
Although the Nemean Lion kept five of them busy, the rest are attacking whenever they could. Daggers and wildly fired magic flew through the skies, seemingly chaotic, but every shot was precise.

Thankfully, attacks that got through the bodyguard was deflected by the spellsinger. This is the first time Kairos saw Lulatia’s protection spells in action. Previously at the embassy, Kairos had crushed her group too completely before anyone could do anything effective.
A large purplish orb floated next to Lulatia. From it, smaller orbs flew out and floated around. Those spheres are made of mana and can lock onto friendly forces protecting them.
The basic functions of this spell allows Lulatia to cast it and focus on other things, but if the damage is too high she will still need to manually control the spheres.
The assassins here are all Class 7 at least so Lulatia had to give her all to protect everyone.
At the same time, the gnomes finally reined in their fears and regained their senses and are supporting each other with near-impeccable teamwork.
Kairos still did not act, but carefully estimated the time.
Around ten minutes has passed, and another thirty-five until the Gnome King and his party should arrive.
Besides them, more assassin groups are approaching with the nearest merely one or two minutes away.
The fine balance in battle will be tilted once again over soon.
Kairos’ eyes brightened.
The person he had been awaiting has reached together with a group of assassins.
He removed a bag from his leather armour, opened it slightly then gently placed it on the ground.
A few curious little heads poked out of the bag and sniffed around. When the little ones saw all the chaos and fighting, instead of being fearful, they seemed excited at all the mana in the air.
These are the magical creatures hatched from the eggs they won at the emporium previously. When Kairos was studying the spellbooks in the cave, he had discovered the way to hatch them.
There are four of them. The one leading the group belongs to Kairos. A tiny fairy-like being with glittering wings and shimmering dress on a beautiful young girl.
The only reason she does not appear human is because her skin is sparkling with a silvery glow.
This is the Apoidea Queen, a legendary creature that can produce and control insects.
However, Kairos knows that this is not her full potential. After all, the Axis is a lower realm.
The next magical creature is the one that Leo picked, a fennec fox with two tails.
Among the foxes, the nine-tailed fox are the strongest with the Kyuubi and Gumiho as the most infamous of their kind. But there is other lesser known foxes which are powerful.
The Polar Fox with its fluffy white tail is the fastest of its kind. Legend says that an adult polar fox could travel across different realms as it wished with its speed alone.
The two tailed fennec fox is a descendent of the beautiful polar fox race. Opposite from the nine-tailed, their species has purer blood when there is less tails. The weakest has four-tails, and the strongest that is about to evolve has only one tail.
This one is halfway to become a snow fox.
Next to the fennec is a stunner. A handsome grey wolf cub with a fiery red sigil on its forehead that symbolises that it is a king of wolves.
This is the one that Linda picked out.
The last one belongs to Relestia, a moon bunny. A small black furry creature with large eyes and small ears for its kind.
Though it looked the same as a regular rabbit, the aura it gives off sets it apart. It is an endearing presence that keeps hostility away, strong enough to pacify even a demon.
There are plenty of beasts with moon affixed to the name of their species, Moon Wolf, Moon Bear, Moon Snake.
They were given such a title because of their ability to borrow power from the moon.
However, this little fellow seemed to be radiating out the power of the moon as if its power isn’t borrowed.
This is in fact not far from the truth. The moon bunny was born encapsulated with lunar energy. Other creatures would be able to draw the power of the moon from being close to it, and in turn they will turn into its protector. Of course, the power it held is miniscule compared to an actual moon, but that will slowly grow as it ages.
The Axis, like any world, provides its creatures with energy to grow in return for protection and care. But because there are too many depending on her power, some creatures turn to the moon instead.
However, unlike worlds, moons are not filled with vitality and mana and can only provide the energy from its planet core.
Of course, there are all kinds of worlds out there. Some without a moon, others with more than one, and there are even worlds with a smaller world as satellite.
Regardless, in the cultivation world, moons specifically meant satellite planets with no native life of its own since the Ki refined from a world is different from a moon.
The moon bunny is a rare creature that copies the concept of a moon and secure its own guardians.
They may not be very powerful individually but in the wild, moon bunnies are always the lord of a great territory.
The four tiny creatures had received specific instructions on Kairos to look out for two individuals. They can recognise their targets through a spell, and they instantly locked on.
The little ones ran towards the new group of assassins that arrived, gave them a wide berth, circled behind them, and attacked the last two in the group.
The new group of assassins panicked. They had come in stealth, not expected to be found instantly.
However, though they initially thought they had ran into an ambush, when they saw the attackers being four baby creatures their guards were dropped for an instance.
That short moment of delay was all that was needed for the beasts to succeed in attacking the two targets.
In fact, the group hurried forward without stopping for the two.
At the very same time that the four pounced, the one leading this new group of assassins was in the middle of attacking Kairos. This precise timing was calculated so that they cannot turn back to aid their own.
Although the assassin heard the commotion behind, he could not stop without injuring himself.
The attack – a magically enchanted arrow – flew past Boink and Lulatia’s defences straight at Kairos’ face with terrible force.
However, Kairos had been awaiting it with sword in hand.
With a single strike, he deflected the arrow which flew into another assassin.
The powerful arrow exploded on contact and with it killed the seventh assassin in this place.
Kairos gave the attacker a wide grin.
This person he had been waiting for is the Circle 9 Arcane Archer prepared by the elven race.
Behind him, the two assassins that were ambushed by the four little creatures are Edgar’s apprentices and Kairos’ senior brothers, Glittersprout and John Doe.
Kairos looked over. The two have them are already in fierce combat. The gnome had transformed into a mighty oak treant with gnarled fists swiping at the tiny beasts.
The human, John Doe, had cast an enhancement spell, Goliath Strength, on himself and is madly roaring.
Both of them are blacksmiths and had greater strength and control than other fighters.
However, the wolf king cub merely shrugged off the blows like it was being tickled. The fennec fox danced on their fists harmlessly while biting them at every opportunity.
The Apoidea Queen summoned a cloud of flying insects, gathered from all around, and blindsided the two, providing a terrific buzzing cover fire for her companions.
Meanwhile, the bunny sat there and watched.
It had limited attacking options, a toothy bite that can bite through hard vegetation and strong paws that can make tunnels – both of which are useless in this fight.
However, whenever a companion found itself driven to a corner, it can run to the moon bunny and the attacks will cease instantly.
For some reason, no one wanted to cause harm to the little thing, even by accident… even at the cost of their own lives.
As long as anyone go into a certain perimeter around the rabbit, all fighting will stop.
It is exactly because of the bunny that Kairos confidently let the four of them out in this chaos.
Of course, this is not his entire purpose. The two senior brothers being dragged down by the four tiny creatures had detached from their group. The rest of the assassins had followed their leader into attacking.
Kairos ignored the Circle 9 Arcane Archer and said, “Senior brothers, I am devastated that you will harm those of your own school. For the sake of our teacher, master Edgar, I will bring the two senior brothers back.”
The two of them, furious, but were too busy to response. They felt their junior brother is too laughable. How naïve is he to challenge over thirty assassins of the highest class? Furthermore, to ensure victory, the two of them had brought over one of the three Circle 9 fighters.
Those beings are already at the peak of this world; their exploits are considered legendary.
The arcane archer, Exterminus Starwalk, is one of the first elves to walk this land. He is an old friend of the gnome king, and master of the Circle 7 Arcane Archer that Kairos previously killed.
He looked at Kairos with seething rage, “I finally caught up with you, boy. You killed my disciple, prepare to pay for it with your life. I will give you a chance to die with honour. Come fight with me one on one like a man.”
Kairos nodded, “I will give you a chance to die with honour as well. Although… I do hope you might be stronger than your disciple.
.
.
.
Umm, I hope it is not rude to ask, which disciple are you referring to, actually?”
