B3, Chapter 94: True Devil Turning Pill (Part 3)

The assassin had a secret that no one knew, a birthright he had kept hidden throughout his life. He was born from the matrimony of a godling and a demon lord. Because of their unholy union his parents were chased by the celestials dying when they finally reached the Immortal Realm. However, with their last breath, they managed to send their infant to safety and gave him their remaining powers, sealing it within his bloodline inheritance.

As he grew older and more powerful, the seal loosened, and the memories of his parents started appearing, along with the secrets of their families.

Such a child rarely occurred in any point of history, but whenever one holding powers of darkness and light fused was to appear, he would become the harbinger of a new era. Destined to be a being of absolute might and one who could rise back to the heavens to reclaim his birthright!

However, this overwhelming power in his blood was quickly corrupted into a greater evil than his demon lord inheritance, and the darkness overcame his godling blood, demonising his flesh and granting him unholy regeneration strength exceeding even his sire.

His aura surged outwards causing Kairos to bark hurriedly, “Tempest, grant me your powers! Holy Thunder Dragon Breath!”

A bright light flooded the place as the Sacred Magic sent the devil-possessed assassin flying with a blast. He landed with a heavy thud, and a sour smell of charred decayed meat waft towards them.

From any angle, he appeared dead, but Kairos continued to stare warily at the body. He lifted a hand upwards, and a thundercloud appeared above him with consecrated majesty.

“This darkness… a normal spell wouldn’t do,” Kairos mumbled to himself with his brows knitted tightly together, “I need a stronger version. A combined blast of all the falling lightning.”

His mind raced as he broke apart and pieced the magic formation countless times. His knowledge on the arcane arts was limited but magic is a thing of logic and he quickly formulated what he want.

“A single interval with a single strike point,” he declared.

Upon the dark but fluffy billows above, a Sacred Magic Circle was casted upon and it glowed with fearsome light. Then, a power surpassing a normal Heavenly Tribulation Lightning fell downwards onto the black mess. A concentrated beam of hallowed might that should be called the Heavenly Annihilation Lightning.

When the glaring radiance faded to normalcy, the teen was lying beneath the ground in smouldering rocks.

The assassin never had a chance since he stepped into this place.

His pitiful life finally faded to nothing.

The group cheered and fell to the ground in relief. Magic is powerful because it rakes in the mana in the air, however its activation takes copious energy from the caster. To fuel such a high-level spell, almost all their combined strength were leeched away and they were drained, especially Kairos who had been using powerful moves one after another.

But their relief was short-lived.

Sacred Magic should have powerful sanctifying effects but a heartbeat stirred in the corpse of the assassin. Their faces turned pale with fright as fraction of a second later, a smile cracked open on his face as the dead started laughing.

It sounded like a whizz and a whirl at first but quickly turned into a full-blown maniacal cackle.

The enemy stood back up once again, “I’m finally FREED!”

The demon lord inheritance had cracked the seals on the devil but its host had been instinctively suppressing it. With the teen dying, no one was left to stop it. It thanked its fortune that its host was stupid enough to off himself.

Although it could had stay hidden until they left, it couldn’t pass up such tasty morsels. Especially…

Even anyone could register what had happened, the lesser devil flew towards them like a great bat.

It had an ominous presence. Suffocating and nauseating at the same time.

Like black lightning, it approached the most delicious soul in their group. The soul healer, Relestia.

Her innocence was the most beautiful thing the devil had ever laid its eyes upon. Even in the unknown ages ago on the gods’ battlefield, it hadn’t seen such a thing as this.

And it held the allure of untold power. If it could twist her innocence, if it could taint her light, then becoming a greater devil would be as easy as a matter of mere thought.

The guys immediately noticed its target and threw their bodies before the princess to protect her. Kairos rushed to the front-most, despite having not much Ki left in his body. He still had his Titan Ranked Physique. His only equal was Jones, but his friend is poisoned. The others did not content with his decision, but they combined their strength as one to face the devil.

Unamused by these half-crippled mortal realm practitioners, it flicked its hand to chase them away, but Kairos valiantly met it with a palm strike.

The outcome was as anyone’s guess, with he and the seventeen others blown away like dried leaves scattering in the wind.

No, thinking carefully, it was an unexpected result. The power in the devil’s passing swipe was enough to turn them into dust, yet the boy survived only with the strength of his body.

He got back up from where he landed, not far from Relestia, then once again stood resolutely in the devil’s way.

The seventeen others each climbed to their feet, only suffering from minor concussions.

It was an astounding miracle and an unexplainable situation for the lesser devil.

As the one who took the majority of the blow, Kairos was the first to get back on his feet. A shimmer of gold flashed across his skin as the True Heavenly Armour negated the devil’s strike. The uncountable glowing runes that caused this golden gleam had faded by a third, but it protect him from harm.

However, this technique that was imparted to him by Enki – a divine one – could not stop his body from hurling backwards. To protect those behind him, Kairos used the Eternal Empyrean to boost his toughness, combined with the Formless Style – Defensive Stance: Nullify, and dispersed the force he received.

The devil cocked its head unnaturally, almost tearing it off the neck.

“Interesting boy. How strange are you?”

With sooty bare feet gripping the ground, it leapt towards him in a flash and struck once again. Even before anyone could react, Kairos fell heavily onto the ground with a dark figure standing over him.

Dust raised and the building shivered, as the might of the devil was displayed. But, it did not stop there, and started raining blows down on his body.

A golden flash covered his skin once again as the runes fended off the physical assault, then a split second later, it activated again for the third and final time.

“This is a setup for checkmate! I… What can I do…? I need to get away… No, I can’t. The princess… Relestia… She is its target. I need to … can I even beat him? No, I need more power… Aisa, please lend me your power… I know that you can’t help me as long as I live, so take my life, and in exchange, please, protect her for me.”

Ever since he practised the Origin Cultivation Methods, this is the first time his thoughts was in such disarray.

Aisa panicked. The little dragon was forbidden to act and Kairos had been pushed to his uttermost desperation but was left wanting. However, his frantic wishes were not only heard by the Primordial Dragon.

The land itself heeded his request for power.

Sixteen globes of energies risen from the grounds. They radiated with exhilaration and rushed into Kairos, enveloping him with pure power.

Finally, they were needed.

A perfect sphere formed covering him and scared the lesser devil to leap back at top speed.

The energies were so violent that it threatens to obliterate anything that dared to come close. It was a force that demands to be respected.

“What’s this? Why are they becoming your power? Who are you…?” the devil asked. Its voice was slow and calm but was anything but soothing. It knew that whatever that is happening to the boy must be stopped. If it fails, the only thing that would happen to it will be its destruction.

This boy … could kill devils!

“Northern Star Array!” an unexpected voice shouted.

The others turned and saw it was Vouno who urged them.

“Do you know how to control the formation heart?”

“I do, quickly!”

“But your rank… your body?”

“Just do it!”

The seventeen of them immediately formed up with Vouno heading the formation.

It wasn’t even a moment later when the devil attacked, “Demon Spear!”

Wicked magic filled with the blackest night and untold evils condensed into a dark spike that could swallow light.

Although the spell’s namesake was a spear, the lesser devil could hardly form a stake. But, its might is undisputable.

It flew at a speed that should cause a sonic boom, yet ignored the laws of physics and sped towards Kairos’ unconscious form.

If he were given a few seconds more, the energies would become fully integrated into his body.

A consequence the devil could not afford.

“Ah… so this is the burden of seventeen people,” Vouno mused with a strained smile understanding what kind of pressure Kairos had carrying in combat.

Sweat rolled down his cheeks as he felt every fibre of his being was stretched to the limits. Kairos could withstand the collected strength of the others because he was at a respectable cultivation stage, but even then he did not dared to withhold their Ki in his body for too long. For Vouno who only has C rank cultivation, it was a tremendous burden. Fortunately, the opportunity to unleash the power overwhelming him came immediately.

He used the fusion of everyone’s Ki to strengthen his Chaotic Sea disposition within his Dantian. The power encased and fortified his Ki Centre, then in an act of lunacy, the father redirected the devil’s attack at Kairos into himself.

The demon spear flew into the tiny Dantian of a low-ranking mortal practitioner, but after swirling harmlessly for a cycle, it flew out again back towards the one that casted the spell.

Although it was only a fraction of a heartbeat, Vouno and those supporting him, coughed out mouthful after mouthful of blood and they collapsed into a heap.

The dark magic blasted the devil animated corpse, but the powers of evil does not harm itself, and merely returned to the owner.

However, their efforts were not meaningless. It bought Kairos the precious seconds he needed, and the sixteen elements had fully filled up his being.

His eyes slowly opened, revealing golden swirls swam in his irises that now glowed with a reverence.

“You should not exist,” with these words, Kairos smite the devil.

Sacred magic wrapped around him like hallowed robes of a true god. With a single punch, he crushed the unholy flesh hijacked by the evil spirit, and the corpse fell apart, as though it had been decaying for months.

No one noticed a thin wisp of smoke left over.

The evil spirit had cast its shell away at the last fleeting moment. Then, it fled towards the body of the princess.
