Aura blasts scattered across the battle below. Most of the Aura Knights are Class 2 and below, with a Class 3 Knight Captain commanding them while Kairos had only seen Class 1 Knights in the castle. Of course, he did not believe that this is the military strength of the Human Kingdoms.
Looking at this group below, he guessed that Class 1 Aura Knights are still too much of a greenhorn and will be posted to the less dangerous stations. Class 2 knights seem to be personal guards of the nobles.
The mercenaries are mostly Class 1 Aura Masters, but their leader is Class 3 and could hold his own against the Knight Captain. Although their Auras are not strong, their methods are far more practiced than Kairos.
After reading a few books on Aura, Kairos have understood that in this world, nearly everyone is born with Class 0 Aura. But Aura Class can be increased. As they grow up, they face problems and slowly strengthens their will. Once they reach a certain stage, they can learn Aura Arts and at that time they will be considered Class 1.
Of course, the strength of will is neither good nor evil, it is merely the strength of one’s desire. Those that are greedy can become just as powerful as those that are brave. The only universal truth of Aura is those whose will is too weak to follow through any desire can never reach the peak.
Normally a person’s combat strength improves along with his Aura. Kairos and the other summoned heroes are the exception here.
When he entered the battlefield, he let loose his Aura wildly. Instantly, the others were frozen with fear.
More than half of them immediately rolled their eyes back and fainted, and that’s because Kairos had already soften his approach.
Of course, considering his lack of control, it is already fortunate that no one is foaming at their mouths… no, actually bubbles are pouring out of the Knight Captain nose and he is twitching nonstop.
Kairos sighed. His Aura is clearly spiralling out unevenly and is hitting people at different strength according to where they are.
The young man did not seem to be affected at all, but Kairos secretly felt relieved. There are still things he need to find out before he acts. From what he overheard, even if he saves the merchant right now, he will still be done in by his crushing debts.
The young man was surprised at how to battle suddenly stopped. He could not feel the terrifying presence before him and did not understand how the captain of his guards had fallen but he credited it to the Class 3 mercenary.
“Boy! Why have you intrude? Are you one of them? Guards, guards! Seize this insolent brat!”
He treated Kairos as a boy without any Aura. Barging into his affairs is courting death.
However, no one moved.
Both the mercenaries and knights stared at the young man with disbelief while inspecting Kairos with absolute terror.
They did not know Kairos’ Aura was almost incontrollable. The tousled Aura is savage and untameable. Incapacitating only half the group is a show of strength. Knocking out the higher class Knight Captain and not many of the Class 1 mercenaries is showing whose side he is on.
After all this is a Class 9 Aura Master.
What can this be except total domination?
A Class 9 that cannot control his Aura?
Are you kidding?
Who can train to Class 9 without learning how to use their Aura?
Not even summoned heroes start at Class 9, for goodness sake it is already the last stage. Who begins their journey at the final boss’ room?
Unfortunately, Kairos is.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
And, not only did he have an uncontrollable Class 9 Aura, he is a Circle 9 Mage and an S rank Cultivator. He didn’t start at the final boss’ room, he started on the final boss’ throne. Axis Mundi had summoned the final boss, the omega weapon.
Kairos ignored the young man and looked towards the tied-up man with something to ask. Unfortunately the person fainted. It looks suspicious but fortunately no one will believe Kairos even if he tells them he is a greenhorn.
He turned back towards the young man, “Well? Try seizing me.”
“Guards! Guards!”
The knights looked at each other pale-faced, but dare not move an inch. Cold sweat are pouring down their backs.
“They don’t dare. Why don’t you try it yourself?”
It is only after Kairos said this that the young man realised the oddity. He looked around and saw his men visible frightened, and he just couldn’t figure out why.
Isn’t this boy just an Auraless?
Why is everybody afraid? Is this a hidden grandmaster so he couldn’t feel the Aura?
No, judging from everyone’s expressions, they are all about to piss their pants.
However, why would a grandmaster mess around with him?
Maybe this boy is someone famous?
As his thoughts ran amok, Kairos’ patience wore thin.
Almost everyone saw Kairos’ figure flicker then completely disappear.
The next moment, when the young man come to realisation, a hand is around his neck already.
The young man screamed indignantly, “Do you know who I…”
Kairos tightened his grasp until his victim started choking and couldn’t say anything, then he said with a smile on his face, “Try again…”
He loosened his fingers and the young man screamed again, “You are messing with people you…”
The yelling stopped as Kairos fastened his grip again, “Try again.”
“You have no idea…”
“Last chance. Try again.”
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” It is only now that he is starting to believe that Kairos is in fact an Aura grandmaster.
“Good. Seems like you finally understand the situation. Now, let’s talk. First question. How much does this man owes you?”
He looked at the tied-up man where Kairos is pointing and laughed, “Fifty thousand gold coins. Do you want to repay for him?”
Kairos’ pupils constricted. This amount is nearly a quarter of the gold found from the Jarl’s treasury. It’s obvious a simple merchant wouldn’t be able to borrow that much.
“Second question. How much is due in arrears?”
“Well of course it is fifty thousand gold coins. I’m rather generous, after all,” the young man lied through his teeth.
Kairos looked at the spear he is holding in his other hand, then promptly said, “Repeat that for me, will you?”
“I… I…”
“This time, without lying.”
As Kairos said this, his eyes turned golden, and a suffocating Aura covered the young man.
He had not activated the Veritable Sight, yet his eyes glowed. And the Aura wasn’t something he consciously controlled either.
There is fire on his tongue and righteous fury in his words.
The young man squirmed with unending fear. The jibe he had before was gone, replaced by the expression one makes as a child caught lying by an adult, and he started babbling.
“He borrowed ten thousand gold coins. The… the… rest is interest.”
The young man knew that by saying it out, he most probably will not receive the full sum.
Kairos was amazed that even at this stage the young man still did not forget his greed.
“How much is the interest?”
“A fifth each month.”
“A fifth?! That’s a year’s interest asked in a month, why would he borrow from you?”
Going by this rate, the debt will double in four months and triple in six.
The young man had a wicked grin on his face, “Ha ha ha ha ha! We made sure no one else will lend him, and there was this great opportunity for him to repay the debt in a month. A sure-win trade. Ha ha ha!
That trade was of course arranged by me to be a sure-fail! Ha ha ha!
How naïve is this man. There is no transaction of money in this world that is assuredly profitable!”
Kairos did not respond except for a slight frown at the young man’s boasting. What is there to be proud of to outsmart a desperate merchant?
“And, if he repays his debt, will you let him off?”
“Of co… N… No,” the young man stammered badly. He wanted to lie and say yes, but no matter what he couldn’t.
“Sure I … WON’T!”
As he spoke, he became even more confused from saying what he was really thinking instead of what he wanted. Then, he suddenly poured out like a broken dam, “No matter how much he repays, I will never let him off! I have to grind him into dust with my boots, after he see me take everything away from him. How dare a miniscule man like him dare to refuse his daughter’s hand to me!? He dare to think I am not worthy for that wrench? I must show him who is unworthy! I must make him regret!”
The golden eyes seared into his mind and in that light, nothing could be hidden.
This is Kairos’ God’s Tongue ability and it is not the one from the chef’s world.
The God’s Tongue is a simple and commonly used term for many things, but they are mostly used to describe an ability or trait that seemed beyond mortal man.
What Kairos had awoken is the real thing. To command is only but a silver of his strength. To hear that the young man will never let this off, a powerful anger rose up, “Even in exchange for your life?”
“HA HA HA! I am a great person! Why would I change my mind? Everything I say and do is absolute, because I am always right! I will never change I will never change I will never change!”
“Then die.”
After Kairos said that quietly, the young man’s head fell, his lifeless eyes remained open. Those around finally realise what kind of existence is before them and their eyes are filled with fear and high regard.
Nearby, a vicious glint flashed across Relestia’s eyes goes unnoticed.
