B4, Chapter 68: Anima Infinitus (Part 1)

The World Tree Yggdrasil.

It belongs to one of the three divine lineages that even Realm Kings must never offend: the True Dragons, the Black Phoenixes, and the World Tree.

In the presence of an Yggdrasil seed is no different as being graced by a monarch. Of course, those who somehow have a seed in possession often take the risk by turning it into a formidable artefact, but they must do so without ever being found out or have enough strength to survive.

Although the Yggdrasil seed cannot communicate normally with people, it does possess consciousness and already understand what is happening around.

Once it grew up, the World Tree that is as big as the planet it is planted on can command all the creatures living in it. Its occupants are most often the insect race that are top-class combatants. They are vicious, have all kinds of abilities, and nearly uncountable in numbers.

It isn’t an exaggeration to say that should an Yggdrasil seed feel offended, even an entire divine race can perish overnight.

In fact, it does not even need to mature, because the adult World Trees are fiercely protective of them since unlike most other botanic life, their seeds are extremely rare.

Aisa who had plucked an entire World Tree of its fruits only result in three measly seeds.

One must imagine that for the tree of the size of a large planet, there were only a little over fifty fruits and most of them do not have any seeds.

It is understandable as well, since each planet can only support one World Tree, there is no reason to make it overcrowded and cause itself problems.

Moreover, the fifty over fruits and three seeds are usually all an Yggdrasil can produce. This isn’t an issue since their life force is near-limitless and each of these seeds will definitely blossom.

Usually for a tree, at least fifty fruits will be seedless, so that when a fruit was taken, the chances are the seeded ones still remain. Besides, who would dare to take a fruit without being invited?

Unfortunately, Aisa seemed to be absent in class when they were teaching about what things should not be done in the divine realm.

Against a Primordial One, a True Holy Dragon, even the greatest Yggdrasil Tree cannot do a thing. In terms of seniority, Aisa is considered a progenitor of the True Dragon Race and a being the trees must look up to.

Thus, Aisa’s victims usually try to forget what happened.

While the seed does have conscious, it is too young to control its functions. Even if it tries to follow what Kairos asked, it cannot prevent its unbounded life force from kicking in and springing roots out in his body as it rapidly grow into a tree.

Aisa advised against eating a seed because she estimates that Kairos has less than one in ten rate of survival and this is if he managed to use God’s Tongue properly.

After all, enforcing his will upon another being only works if the latter is willing or his cultivation far exceeds his target.

Unfortunately, if the Yggdrasil seed that is strong enough to consume a planet is unwilling, it can kill Kairos before reaching half-way down his throat.

The area around the White Emperor turned frosty. Thick slabs of snow are piling up at an abnormal rate and sapped the heat out of everything it touches.

The air became uncomfortable and even the Paramount Cultivators started backing away leaving only Kairos to face Reynold.

All of a sudden, flowers started blooming around Kairos’ feet.

Wild roots ripped up the Training Hall tiles and pushed forward in all directions. When the plants touched the frost, they shrivelled and froze but more roots rushed over from behind and cracked the ice.

They seemed to be fighting against the powerful frost, and appears to be winning.

Behind Kairos, his friends and family felt as though they had been rejuvenated as the World Tree seedling’s life force surrounded them.

Those with the Origin Cultivation Method quickly took in whatever they could and felt their cultivation increased by leaps and bounds. The rest discovered that their fatigue is gone and small wounds are healing at visible rate.

Flowers started blooming all around as if resisting the chill of winter.

Within Kairos’ body is a world of chaos. The seedling started sprouting the moment it entered his body. It is willing to help Kairos but somethings are just impossible for it to control.

The Yggdrasil roots felt the high amount of life energy surrounding it and went into a frenzy.

At this time, from a corner within Kairos’ Dantian, a tongue of flame erupted into a great blaze and flew out to meet the Yggdrasil seed.

It turned into the head of a terrible beast, Surtr the Lightning Dragon, and in one bite it swallowed the seedling.

The roots that were seeking out nutrients suddenly felt a wall of heat cutting off its path. They turn in all directions searching for a way through but it was perfectly enveloped. With its source of nutrients was cut off, the seedling’s growth finally stopped but it is far from dead.

The flames, now satisfied, swiftly returned to its home in Kairos’ Dantian.

In nature Fire and Metal are the best counters to the Wood Element and even a World Tree seedling can only be suppressed by a divine beast’s flames.

After reaching the Dantian, the flames started increasing its heat upon the Yggdrasil seed.

The fire that envelop it is the Unknown Flame Sovereign, Kairos’ Alchemic Flame that automatically protected its master.

Originally it was a Beast’s Flame with the will of Surtr imprinted upon it. It has a sentience and can even become a separate being from Kairos once it gained enough strength to create Surtr’s avatar. Unfortunately because it only melts things but never turns them into flames, Kairos could not find a way to make it grow.

At this time, a strange thing happened between the flame and the seedling. The fire that does not consume seemed to have latched itself upon the seed of life with a strange persistence.

Despite having a consciousness, the fire was never a living thing for it lacked life force and soul. The Yggdrasil Seed that has near-endless life energy compared to nearly anything else in the mortal realm was a source of deep longingness for the flames.

Without Kairos’ instructions, it started a tempering and refining process to turn itself into a part of the seedling.

Under the great heat, the properties of the World Tree’s seed changed to accommodate the Lightning-Fire dual element Beast’s Flame and the two slowly merged into one.

The seed turned scorched red with

When the artefact was done, there wasn’t a great din or earthshaking tremble as announcement, but only a quiet tranquillity.

A golden seed with beautiful water crystals satellites lies within Kairos’ Dantian. Flames still envelop it and lightning flashes across from time to time in all kinds of colours, but they produce no heat at all.

Kairos created an artefact for the first time in his life and it was an exceedingly high-level one that is far beyond the Mortal Realm’s level; a divine treasure that immortals will kill to acquire.

Unlike most artefacts, what he has is a living treasure.

When others refine an Yggdrasil Seed, they have to kill the seedling while keeping the incredible life force within intact. The resulting treasure often becomes a healing and rejuvenation article that can cure strange diseases, normally lethal wounds, and extend life span.

If they do not kill the Yggdrasil Seed in the process – which by itself takes incredible efforts- they cannot use its power and may face a dangerous backlash.

Yet, the Beast’s Flame wanted to live. If the seedling dies in the process it will only gain a life force but not have a soul.

The result was perhaps the strangest artefact creation. The strong will of the Beast’s Flame had perfectly combined with the Yggdrasil Seed’s life energy and soul and they became flawless in their unity.

It remains as an Alchemic Flame that can be used to smelt metals, forge steel and formulate pills. The artefact can attack with lightning, fire, water, and wood; Powerful elements that are conflicting yet in harmony.

But its true strength lies in the life force it held, an energy source that practitioners of the Origin Cultivation can tap into directly.

In comparison, an artefact created using a dead Yggdrasil seedling will need constant replenishment of Heavenly Energy to produce life energy and it has a low capacity compared to a matured World Tree, but what Kairos has will continue to grow with him as a companion.

The Lightning and Fire elements in his body were drawn by the artefact’s presence, and they rushed into it. In return, Wood and Water elements from the artefact filled his Dantian.

Over time, more and more energy enter his Ki Centre until his other elements were forced to the side. Normally at this time they will compound and become more concentrated, just like how Paramount Cultivators compresses their Ki, but right now there is something in the Dantian that can take in the excessive energies.

All at once, Earth, Metal, Frost, Time, and Space elements rushed into the seedling that the Yggdrasil treasure greedily absorbed.

Within the artefact and Kairos’ Dantian, the elements reached a balance. All five elements of creation, Fire, Water, Wood, Earth, and Metal, coexisted forming a perfect spiral that consumes and reproduces itself.

The three elements of nature now only lacked the Wind Element and of the four transcending pairs of elements one pair is completed.

Kairos felt his cultivation soar. He had to unlock elements to improve his rank, and for years he was stuck because he couldn’t master the different runes despite knowing them. It was his mediocre talent that chained him down while his friends were running ahead, but this artefact opened up the way.

Although he had not unlocked the Wood and Water elements yet, the artefact will continue to supply it to him and in time he may master it.

The energy in his Dantian was like a perpetual source, and will continue to create Ki without needing any Heavenly Energy as resource.

It is ceaseless therefore endless, and endless therefore unlimited.

In this instance, Kairos understood the artefact’s true name: the Anima Infinitus.

He was utterly in shock, because as the one who fashioned it, he was completely unaware until now. Kairos who had failed to apply his will upon the Yggdrasil seed had thought his life was forfeit.

Now he felt a domineering power seep out from his Dantian and empowering him but his joy was short-lived.

The power was far too much for him. Even his Titan Ranked physique which can contain an immortal’s energy were strained to its limits to store this much energy.

He looked at Reynold Lambert Siegmund and mused darkly, “I only have seconds to finish this.”

Granted, even if he wants to fight a longer time he couldn’t. The powerful frost emitting from the White Emperor has reached critical mass and will soon detonate.

He dashed forward, so quickly it appeared as though he teleported to even the likes of Rielon.

With palm opened, Kairos sent a single slap downwards as though swatting a fly, yet the power behind it broke the sound barrier and infinitely touched the light barrier.

It nearly destroyed the time-space continuum as he smashed the White Emperor into the ground, turning the latter into a bloody mess.

A moment later, the remains slowly turned into dust as it atomised.

Without even a single cell remaining, the True War God’s Tattoo revival ability was tested. Fortunately, the essence of this technique lies in the indestructible nature of one’s soul and soon, Reynold returned to life.

This time, without hesitation, he used up a layer of his life and created a new body a thousand kilometres away in the air and far beyond the Walls of Jericho.

That flesh will be the new vessel allowing his soul to reside.

Unfortunately, he had to create it within sight, or else he would’ve put it even further and hidden it deep in the ground.

Perhaps an immortal can do that but this is the limit of his abilities. No technique is perfect and he is sorely restricted as a mortal.

Yet the moment he shed his old body and entered the new one, his demise is already announced.

Neither Saint Empire nor the Great Khan will let him escape. All he is doing now is to buy time and perhaps hoping that a miracle can happen that will let him transcend into the immortal realms.

If he knew anyone up there, it will be easy for him to get a path of escape, but with his background as an itinerant cultivator, he really did not want to take this step.

Reynold has only one last layer of life left, yet, he did not hesitate to burn it up and give himself the unmatched speed that fooled Rielon to escape.

Unfortunately, it is only unmatched in the mortal realms.

Kairos looked at Lee Hei and the latter quickly opened a slit in the Walls of Jericho. Not wide enough for a human but more than adequate for Ki pockets.

A flick of a finger from Kairos and a thousand kilometres away the White Emperor died screaming as his body imploded.

The power of Kairos’ Immolation Finger destroyed whatever protection the Paramount Cultivator put up and shot him down from far at an unavoidable speed.

A couple of weapons, a broken piece of armour and a single Time-Space ring is all that remained. When Kairos opened up his hand, these objects flew over into his hands.

The Black Emperor almost pissed himself.
