B3, Chapter 89: Assassins (Part 4)

The immortal realm cultivator stared deathly at the enemies that dared to bare their teeth at him.

Eighteen fighters, two of them are at Peak Double S rank – and from their violent Ki, it looked as though they were using strengthening techniques.

The other fifteen were all at the level of A rank, varying in the three minor stages. The last person was the most ridiculous, a middle-age man daring to stand before him at only C rank. At such a level, it didn’t matter if he is Entry, Mid, or Peak, since they are all equally pathetic!

A fire already started raging in him when he sensed their strength. To be challenged by these people, it already is humiliating. Even worse, there is Vouno who is already middle-age but only at C rank.

At seventeen, he has already reached Triple S rank. His talent is undeniable and was selected to be one of the few core seed disciples of his sect. He has status, power, and a bright future. Not only so, he looked elegant with his every movement, and graceful with his words. When moving among the commoners in the Immortal Realm, he easily make girls swoon with a glance and could court any females he wanted. In fact, he had often done so.

Unfortunately, after he succeeded the mask he had on fell and his motive to toy with the girls was found out.

To prevent others from knowing, he woefully sent all of them to their untimely deaths. Granted, he had been improving his act, so he was convinced that sooner or later he would succeed.

But at this moment his façade was shattering into little pieces.

His face twitched violently as a hideous visage overtook his face. It was like a cold-blooded beast had been hiding in his skin. A murderous predatory look

Having been sent flying repeatedly is a real stain on his reputation. If anyone of them here survives, even those bystanders, the resulting rumours would be enough to rub the name of his sect in the dirt.

Needless to say, he would be thrown out.

He complained bitterly in his heart, “I was only caught off-guard. Otherwise, they have no way to send me flying!”

He raised his eyes to the sky. The roof of the building had been destroyed – mostly by himself when he was on the way out.

His eyes sharpened when he noticed a tremendous battle in mid-air.

Their other target, the Emperor of this backwater country, is currently surrounded by four of his juniors.

They wouldn’t take long to subdue him, even though there is another Triple S ranker by his side and several royal guards.

If he were slower than his juniors, then his results for this mission would be terrible, and his ranking among the core seeds will slide!

He looked carefully at the one who attacked him the most viciously and gritted his teeth.

This boy! He is the most hateful! If not for him, his mission would’ve been completed by now, and he would be on his way to claim his rewards.

On the other hand, the boy – Kairos – had his Swallow half buried in the floor after his attack had sent the enemy rolling away.

He pulled out his weapon as though there was no resistance from the stone floor, then held it parallel to his body and stared at the assassin.

The look in his eyes seemed to convey he is looking at a corpse, and it gave the Immortal Realm cultivator chills down his spine.

It was a look that only those who had braved blades and death could acquire, yet a 13-year-old has it in his eyes.

“What is your name, boy?”

Before he realised, he already asked the question.

Kairos, however, did not reply. His only thoughts were to defeat this foe quickly and save his princess. Everything else is pointless!

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

“Tch, you think you’re gifted just because you can reach such a cultivation stage at your age? Let me tell you, the Immortal realm cultivation methods are faster and establish a better foundation than the crappy mortal realm techniques you’re using. Even by talking to you, it is already a compliment.”

Unable to get a response, the assassin did not realise that he started to talk by himself needlessly. He is sub-consciously trying to deal with the pressure that Kairos gave him. However, this only gave the fifteen disciples and Vouno the time they needed to catch up. Joining Kairos and Jones, each of them entered the combat mode by infusing their Origin Energy into their bodies, and no matter what cultivation stage they are at, they gained five upgrades in minor stages.

If one were at Peak A rank, they would become Mid SS rank after Origin Infusion. They cannot maintain this state for long. Every moment it will drain away their vitality, and more if they attack or get hit, but against such a monster, none of them could afford hold back in the slightest.

The disciples had heard of how Kairos, Jones, Edward, Jim, Alan, Tommy and Vouno, had taken down Syriong at a much lower rank. But, firstly, the Guardian is incomparably weaker than this assassin who hail from the immortal realm.

And secondly, during that fight, the protector of the Silent Lambs Empire suffered grievous internal wounds after being blasted by the national treasure of the Silent Lambs Empire – the unnamed crystal horn of a ram.

The teenager was shocked at their explosive auras, and he double checked their status as though he had seen wrongly.

“Such potent strengthening technique?!”

Because of the godly cultivation method that Kairos had imparted them, no matter how much they climbed on the path of Dao, their life energy would equally strengthen. As such, they could gain the same amount of improvement every time they use their strengthening method.

Of course, when they reached their upper limits at Peak Triple S, they would find themselves unable to strengthen further, since no matter what their bodies need to be transformed by the tribulation lightning to transcend their mortal shells before they can possess actual immortal Ki.

But, at least, with improved vitality, their Origin Infusion would be able to last longer.

10 to 15 minutes. That’s the time limit for most Origin Energy Infusion. Although, for Kairos who had eaten the vitality increasing Life Giver Spirit Pill he could sustain his form for almost half an hour.

That was why when he found out the benefit of the Life Taker poison, he was exhilarated by the great advantage he gained.

On the other hand, although he had more energy, five minor stage increments is already his body’s limits. If he strains himself anymore, it would only lower his efficiency; similar to how Tommy burned out his meridian systems in the past.

Yet, by using mana infusion, he could further improve another five minor stage and jump from Mid B rank to Peak Triple S in one breath.

This is thanks to the nature of mana being an external force that could cask his flesh with magical might that he could fight neck-to-neck with superior cultivators.

If his enemy knew this, he wouldn’t dare to look at Kairos in disdain. This is a true-blue monster standing before him.

Although Kairos’ cultivation is lacking, he could match Jones as the strongest two warriors in the group.

The brother stood side by side, leading the rest forward in battle, while Vouno automatically took centre place where it was the safest.

The 18 were all synchronised in the Northern Swords Array, even their breathing and heartbeats were one. Without speaking, they moved together.

Their group charged forward at the same pace but the Triple S ranker unhurriedly directed his hand at his fallen sword and beckoned, “Come!”

The spirit weapon shook and bounced up from the ground, then as though it was pulled by an unseen hand, it whirled through the air and flew harmlessly into his grip.

The only weapons that could obey commands like this are those that have developed an artificial soul within. They could wilfully protect their masters and react to enemies.

At a higher level, they could even float around unaided and send out devastating attacks far quicker than a practitioner could unleash.

Fortunately, at the weapon’s grade, the sword’s spirit had not yet awakened. If his sword could fly around, they would be dead in an instant.

The Triple S ranker had no other way to face them than to strike his enemy with a sword in hand. However, he was shocked when his enemies immediately spread out and surrounded him, then almost simultaneously they attacked from all directions.

“Damnit! What the heck is this?” He roared, all the while thinking… “I only got one sword, how can I defend against so many strikes!”

Those with poorer perception may not notice the essence of this combat array and scoff at the enemy, but he could tell with a glance that something strange is going on.

With his cultivation, he could easily beat up twice the number of enemies at their level, yet at this moment, he found himself sweating buckets.

They were attacking as though there is a chain connected at their waists. Even if he deals with a couple of them at once, the others will hinder his attack while probing the loopholes in his techniques.

He accurately judged that right now, the best of his skill is still inferior to this strange formation he is trapped in.

“What kind of battle formation could do this? But never mind. If technique doesn’t work, and power cannot break your coordination, then I shall annihilate all of you at once! You guys forced my hand!”

He spun on his heel slashing the air savagely and causing everyone to jump backwards.

Right afterwards, the assassin lifted both his hands and bellowed, “Face the wrath of limitless swords! Demon God Sword Rain!”

A hailstorm made of swords shimmered down upon them. Instead of randomly falling, each blade homed in on a target.

It's prowess only stronger than the blood arrow talisman that Syriong had used in his desperation.
