B2, Chapter 82: Martial Techniques (Part 2)

Most cultivation methods come accompanied with martial arts. Everyone who practised the Origin's Cultivation Method is confident that it is a top tiered cultivation method, yet strangely it did not have any martial arts alongside.

And Aisa's offer to teach Kairos martial arts, finally cleared up the reason, why there wasn't any found within his big old tome.

Hehe. Aisa is going to teach!

She called out happily as she slowly flew over to Syriong.

The devil cocked its head at an unnatural angle and said with a voice from hell, "What actually are you? A real dragon?"

However, Aisa ignored it and continued saying.

Kairos will first learn the Origin's Physical martial arts.

"Oh, to complement the body tempering method?" Kairos asked, also ignoring Syriong who couldn't hear their conversation. However, since their communications are all done in the mind, it is actually at a much quicker speed than actual speech. Until now, Syriong is still in the process of observing Aisa.

The small dragon answered Kairos,

Yep! But first, the body moulding method, because Kairos' movement is so terrible he could not learn anything as he is...

When her voice stops, she sent a series of images flooding Kairos' mind. Within it, he could see the figure of a man displaying a series of complex but mesmerising movements. The techniques that were shown was so refined that it made him feel how he was attacking before was no different than a caveman swinging a club around.

Just the method of breathing is sophisticated beyond his understanding. Each movement that the image of the man had taken has a particular rule to it and a defining purpose. And the cycle of energy within his body runs perfectly like a world on its own.

But after memorising the techniques by hard, Kairos started to forget every detail because of his Formless Stance, until in the end he is left with only his understanding.

But immediately, his breathing becomes more natural than before, and the energy within himself ran more fluidly. The power of concept without forms enables him to execute the skill whichever way he wants it. In a way, a sword master that can use a single blade of leaf like a sword is similar to the core theories behind the Formless Stance.

The 2nd Stage of Swordsmanship is the Heart Sword, where the swordsman's sword is in his heart, and anything he picks up in his hands becomes a blade. It was this technique that was behind the creation of the original skill: The Formless Sword. And Kairos took it to another level by making it suitable for all techniques, even what Aisa is teaching.

Now, when Kairos looked around him, he saw the way which Aisa is flying has an intricate pattern that he had never noticed before. Though there was a rhythm, it remains unpredictable, and the only thing he could figure out is the dragon's movements are superior to anything he had met before.

Then, he turned his eyes on Vouno, and in direct contrast to Aisa, he was speechless. It is plain, from observing him, that only standing took him as much energy as others walk.

"Father..."

At the same time, he noticed the others around him, and simply by comparison between them, knows who is stronger.

"Jones, this unfair fellow! His breathing rhythms, energy use and movements are already nearly perfect!?"

He did not notice, however, on how amazing that all these observation and thoughts happened within a moment in his mind.

While every creature that cultivates becomes stronger in all aspects, including their mental capacity, as they pursuit their Dao, it is impressive how powerful Kairos' mind has become.

For Kairos who is only a mortal and still at a stage of growth, it's hard for others to imagine how much information he is taking in, all the time.

It is well known that those beings in the higher realms could remember things with a single glance. Yet when compared to him, even immortals are hard pressed to have any advantages.

Aisa's voice rang out in his mind again, after noticing Kairos had changed accordingly to the techniques.

Yay~ Kairos got the basics~ Here is the physical attacking move. Astral Cataclysm!

Once again Aisa sent him some images, and he learned the concept of a new attacking move that makes use of the strength of his flesh.

"Finally! A powerful external martial art technique!" Kairos thought ecstatically.

This is the first time he learned external martial arts. With this technique, even without using a strand of Ki or Origin Energy, he would still be able to fight. For him, who has been using Origin Infusion, and now Mana Infusion, to strengthen his combat power it is increasingly easy for others to suspect. After all, to surpass even a grade of cultivation at the higher ranks requires a powerful technique, and to surpass more than that usually needs one to activate a forbidden art.

The reason some skills are called forbidden arts is that it requires a substantial sacrifice from the user to activate, some of a person's lifeblood or for harsher techniques a piece of a person's soul.

However, the two types of energy infusions, Origin Energy and Mana, could improve the guys' cultivation not only by a few grades but by an entire rank and even more. Such potent empowerment-type skill does not exist in Saint Empire, nor in the Silent Lambs Empire. Even for the rest of the Mortal Realms, it is scarcely possible for another skill of such strength to exist.

For Kairos to learn external martial arts, it enables him to tap into another power that he already has yet hardly able to use now. His own body.

Thanks to the body tempering method of the Tome of Origin, the raw strength of his flesh had already transcended the limits of human abilities and entered the realms of the Immortals. And now he has a chance to equip himself with the skills to use this advantage.

There are practitioners with dismal amounts of Ki, but just with the strength of their bodies, capable of combating on equal grounds with other practitioners. Yet such practitioners are rare, solely because of the difficulty to train one's flesh, as well as the physical training techniques being less developed than Ki cultivation methods.

Unfortunately, having just received the Astral Cataclysm art, Kairos had not learned the technique until he has the chance to practice. But Aisa did not intent do finish her training session with Kairos just like this, and continues saying.

Now the defensive move. The Eternal Empyrean!

This time, Aisa did not send images to Kairos, but instead opted for an actual demonstration and taunted Syriong.

She opened her tiny maws at him and breathed a massive cloud of smoke on the devil's face.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

Syriong reacted immediately, dashing forward and ripping through the air with its claws.

Three gashes of red line appeared across the space which Syriong's hand tore through, formed by its force that destabilised the weak mortal realm spatial bindings.

Then Syriong's claws landed on Aisa's petite back.

At that moment, Kairos, who was wholly confident of the dragon's ability, noticed that those claws that are sharper than Titan ranked razors, stopped harmlessly when they touched her wings. It was as though there is an unnatural law of physics upon Aisa's body which rejected the violent momentum that was applied.

Those blade-like nails failed to tear even the thin wing membranes though there was no infusion of Ki, Mana or activation of seals and barriers.

"H..How did you do it?" Jones asked suddenly, leeching into the communication channel because of his curiosity.

Knowing that Kairos highly favours these people around him, Aisa had not hidden their conversation, though she did not send the rest the martial arts' images.

The techniques are still privately Kairos', but they could hear her words and talk to her.

Although, because the conversation is tuned to Kairos' mental abilities, it was at a speed that their speech became mostly a buzz of noise for many of them.

Therefore, for their sake, she replied at a speed everyone could hear.

Aisa made her wings immovable~ By force!!

It was a short answer, overly simplified into a single sentence, but it was enough for all of them to understand.

With just physical strength, she had fixed the part of her body that was attacked, in place. Her wing membrane became immovable, negating the sharp claws that impacted her, and she did it with so much power, it seemed as though Syriong merely rested his claws on her.

However, in the next moment, they all noticed that the force was not gentle for the devil's gleaming nails cracked and chipped off from his own force. They are once again reminded that the red gashes which split the dimensions reflected how terrifying the attack was.

Kairos~ Did you see?

Aisa asked impishly, as she fished for a compliment.

"Yes," He replied at a reasonable speed, that the others may also hear, "You transferred all your physical strength to one part of your body, and with physical strength somehow you fixed space itself."

Though it was a technique that his friends could not learn, he said it out for the sake of sating their curiosity.

It wasn't that the others who also practised the body tempering method are unable to learn the skills, but Aisa did not explicitly teach them, and Kairos respected her decision. Perhaps only Jones would be an exceptional case to learn it with his astuteness.

Even though Kairos had not learned the technique called the Eternal Empyrean, but because of the Body Moulding Method, he was able to observe the skill in greater details. Then Aisa once again sent him the information on this defensive art to complete his understanding of its execution. And in a way, it was surprisingly similar to an amalgamated technique of all his Formless Style's defensive stance.

With this technique, even if he was struck on a weak point like his eyes, he could defend himself efficiently by rejecting the force. It is a mixture of the nullification, reflection and even absorption of impact, to the point of impeccable efficiency.

Not only was it easy for him to learn, but he could also replace the Formless Style's defensive techniques with this. It's only two drawbacks are firstly the length of time it could stay activated is short, and then he will need to release the skill for a short rest. And secondly, at the first stage of the Eternal Empyrean, he could only defend a single area, as large as the palm of his hand. Though after his physical strength rises, he would be able to practice the next stage and increase the area exponentially.

He immediately thought of his friends and asked Aisa if she would teach these two external martial arts to his buddies, but unfortunately, the answer is a flat no. The dragon explained that these arts belongs to the one called The True Lord, and it is only for him to select who to impart the skills to.

Afterwards, nodding her head comically like she is a guru, Aisa seemed pleased that Kairos has swiftly picked up the Eternal Empyrean and decided to teach him the second set of martial arts.

Kairos~ The second thing Aisa want to teach is dragon magic! Kairos could now use the Mana Core to imitate a tiny bit of Aisa's power.

After External Martial Arts is Magic!

Once again she sent Kairos a series of images, and also she demonstrated the ability she is teaching. She turned and looked at the Devil who, by now, had only just snapped out of the shock of losing his claws.

Opening her mouth wide once again, this time it wasn't a harmless puff of smoke that appeared but instead a glowing magic circle.

From it, a beam of light appeared from the middle and struck Syriong in the head with a flash so quick it is impossible to dodge.

The light, however, does not seem to harm him, and instead bounced off his forehead. But the ray did not cease and continued shining, then, a bubble appeared where the light is reflecting off. A small boil.

The ray turns more intense by the moment, and the boil grew larger. Though it was slow to describe, the changes were so fast that Syriong had not even moved his head away.

But it is already too late for him to dodge, for the boil exploded and a fire lit in its place. Scorched by the holy light, a hole was drilled through his forehead until the beam no longer reflected off but shone directly through.

Starting from that the wound in Syriong's head, cracks appeared and spread through the rest of the devil's body. In the process, one of his horns broke off, as fiendish green blood poured out from wounds everywhere on its body.

Yet the devil stayed alive and is even quickly recovering.

"You dare harm me? Puny dragon, Devils had decimated your race, and still, you have not learned!" Syriong bellowed in rage at Aisa. He did not seem to notice the damage on his body and instead sent an earth-shattering punch at her.

Even though the boys are standing far away, they could sense that the force behind his fist could even blow a hole through a mountain easily, but the dragon had her back facing Syriong while conversing with Kairos.

Kairos that was the sanctification beam. The weakest of dragon magic but easier to pick up. Did you remember the magic circle?

Kairos nodded.

Okay, then Aisa's Finisher!! Holy Dragon breath!

By now the fist had already struck her, but without caring it like it was a fly that landed on her, Aisa turned her head towards Syriong and let lose a powerful breath.

Another magic circle appeared within her maws, and from it tendrils of light burst outwards, creating a large white flower which blinded the entire area.

Instantly, half of Syriong's body disappeared.

Aisa's dragon breath is made of the Holy element. Did Kairos learn it?

The boy nodded his head again. Remembering, and even understanding a part of the magic circle was not difficult for him. But for him to replicate its effects would require some study.

Seemingly pleased with his learning speed, though not really surprised, Aisa moved on to the last technique she wishes to teach.

Aisa has one last thing she wishes to teach Kairos... This technique is called the War God's Epithet, and it requires Kairos to turn his soul into a combat soul.

After saying so, Aisa once again turned her attention to the devil which Syriong transformed into. Though only his feet remains, he has already begun rebuilding his body, and in just a while his shin and thighs have restored.

It is physically impossible to destroy a devil, no matter how low ranking it is.

But suddenly, a strange power seemed to gather within Aisa's eyes, and then from her gaze, a cyclone that cannot be seen, and only felt, tore through Syriong's devil soul.

Kairos~ You can use this together with your glowy golden eyes HEHE!

The Phantoms looked at each other oddly. They saw the Devil appear and ate most of their brethren, then it strode towards the fugitive and started prancing around.

But what happened afterwards was scenes after scenes that they couldn't understand. At first, the devil swiped powerfully at air but was knocked backwards slightly with its claws shattered. Then, out of nowhere a bright ray of light suddenly penetrated its head.

There was no magic circle that they could see nor could they identify the source of this power, but the devil's body cracked and became covered with green blood.

For a while, they were elated that this enemy of mankind had been vanquished, though clueless on who dealt the deathblow. However, their hope was soon dashed as they noticed the devil's recovering, and it punched at air once again only to stop as its fist struck something invisible.

Whatever it was attacking, retaliated and it atomised the devil leaving only the feet intact. Yet, too astonishing to behold, what was truly terrifying happened then.

The shattered flesh of the devil continued to show signs of recovery. Flesh, bones, muscles and sinew grew first, followed by blood capillaries and tendons returned bit by bit.

After living for centuries as the blades of Emperor Axtaius, what frightening things have the Phantoms not experienced?

They trodden across fields of blood, even climbed mountains of corpses, and they are not easily startled men but this time Syriong truly terrified them.

Many of them uncharacteristically began withdrawing. The mission they need to complete even at the cost of their lives has, for the first time, been forgotten out of unsurpassable fear.

They felt that this is a nightmare which would never end, and many men could only kneel on the ground in prayer.

Their minds reeled from the unreasonable scenes they saw, fearing from the depths of their souls that eternal destruction is upon them. That soon, Syriong would recover and eat all their souls. But as many of them are reaching the brink of meltdown from their terror, they felt a cyclone though no wind moved, and the devil suddenly lost his power to hold himself up.

Two bloody stumps of legs fell lightly on the ground, and bright green blood gushed out from its lifeless flesh.

It seems that thispetrifying abomination that Syriong had turned intohad somehow been slain.
