While the rest went into a temporary stasis because of the relentless chain of surprises, Aisa privately chuckled at their expressions. It had turned out just as she imagined it would be; with hilarious, goofy faces all around.
Princess Relestia, however, has disappeared from the crowd the moment that the explosion scare happened.
Several shadows swooped into class unseen by most people and brought her away.
Of course, for the Soul Force Users, the normal concealment techniques are meaningless, but they had to pretend not to notice.
It would serve them poorly to have their detection ability known, and naturally, each member of Snowdrifts that were imparted with the Origin Cultivation Method was taught to be wary of giving away its existence.
As they recovered from their shock, they noticed that Kairos had gone into a state of cultivation, right after he gobbled up the flames. Within him, both fire and lightning dragons danced elatedly at the introduction of the sealed fire. These celestial beasts had yet to find a single thing worthy of them to ingest and were solely nurtured by Kairos' cultivated Ki. Not only them, but it is also the same for the other boys’ contract beasts and the brood of dragonlings back home. It is unsurprising that they had not grown much bigger from the food available on Gaia.
Because of his dragonlings, when Kairos first saw the divine flame, he felt their craving deep in his body. But to digest it he knew he needed time. In its raw form, the flame will be too powerful to consume. Therefore, he had sought to seal it and weaken his 'prey'.
Within his body, where the sealed purple flame is, Kairos started removing pieces of the seal, and each time a bit of the flame would escape.
The two dragons that were standing ready near the seal greedily swooped in and took giant chomps. After just a few rounds, the flame had weakened to become no larger than a speck in size. The two divine beasts, knowing their master’s intent, left less than satisfied.
Kairos started absorbing this leftover energy. Despite its size, the process to cultivate the divine flame was slow and arduous, and the Snowdrifts stayed by his side ensuring no one could interrupt him.
It was hours later before he opened his eyes again. Relestia has re-joined the group, and surprisingly their instructor, Diff, also stayed the entire time.
They felt an unnatural heat surging outwards from Kairos like he was an open inferno and saw majestic purple flames flashed across his eyes as he opened them. Then immediately, it brought along a scent of rain in the air, as though a storm has come.
The Unknown Flame Sovereign's dual properties of flame and lightning.
While their faces thickened with curiosity for him, Relestia suddenly held her tummy and squealed with peals of giggling. The rest hurriedly looked around for what caused the humour, and almost instantly noticed that everyone’s hair had stood up from the abnormal amount of static in the air.
“Bwahaha! Did you just gained the ability to change the fashion trend wherever you go?”
“Remaking everyone’s hairdo at will… that’s actually a neat trick!”
“We all knew him as a trendsetter,” one of his brothers said it as a joke, but it caused the naive princess to look at Kairos with wonder and admiration.
Everything that she had heard about him had been unbelievable, like a mythical hero from ancient past. Now that she had seen him with her own eyes, she felt that he is even more incredible than she expected.
Kairos, on the other hand, rolled his eyes backwards, until only his whites are showing. Having just cultivated the flame, it drained him extensively just to hold back its strength, and he didn't have the heart to reply.
It had taken him quite a while to coax the fearsome divine flame to stop boasting of its power enter his Dantian. Those surrounding him had patiently waited, and he could see their curiosity bluntly on their faces.
Before anyone propped a question, Kairos, knowing that others would eventually know, conjured up the now-obedient purple flame on his palm.
“An Alchemic Flame! Such wild temperament definitely makes it a Beast’s flame,” Diff cried out astonishedly.
The princess alone could understand the meaning of her words and went into deep thoughts while the gang, including Kairos himself, could only stare in quiet inquisitiveness, not knowing what she meant.
“What are Alchemic Flames? And is there a difference between the Beast’s Flame and other kinds?” it was Kairos who asked Diff the eventual question, but it was the princess who answered.

“My father says that Alchemic Flames are a tier above the Inner Fire that Flame-type practitioner cultivates.
It is a foreign energy made into a second-type of controllable fire source within one’s body.
Its uniqueness is that more than normal flames, it can change the properties of things it envelops and is suitable for pill making.
Hehe... To even make a flame that does not consume into your Alchemic Flame... As I've heard, Kairos is amazing! ”
Their instructor who was stripped of her arrogance and left only with curiosity, chimed in, “This is more unbelievable than you guys think. Alchemic Flames tend to purify ingredients by burning away unwanted components when making a pill, but your purple flame only melts stuff. Therefore, you will need to filter out the impurities manually, and it will take far more skill to create pills.
However, at the same time, because it does not consume the ingredients, if you succeed in making a pill, it will be far more concentrated than normal. Its value will be unmatched!”
“Ohhh! Money!” Alan who had been indifferent throughout, even when the flame was about to explode, finally exclaims. The other stuff was too much for his knowledge, but on hearing that there is money to be made, he laughed heartily, as though he was the one that acquired the purple flame. The other brothers, though less forthright, also brightened up immediately, smiling amongst themselves, much to the spectacle of the two ladies present.
Relestia curiously looked at them when they celebrated, asking in a small but delighted voice, “Is it worth a lot?”
“Of course!” Diff answered, her voice oozing with jealousy.
“Then, that must suck,” She said with an impish smile, then the princess patted Diff on her shoulder saying mischievously, “...for your family.”
Since the little princess is a fan of Kairos, the Devilheart family naturally became the bad guys in her mind. At this point, their instructor really wants to roll her eyes back and faint. If it were anyone else that show such an impudence towards her, she would no doubt be handing that person a sharp backhand to the face. Unfortunately, the girl’s mysterious status is truly frightening. Without finding out Relestia’s background, she could only assume the worse would happen if she provoked the girl.
Diff, of course, had no idea the calamity she avoided today because of her prudence.
Ignoring the pale-faced instructor, the princess continued her explanation with a voice that sounds like crystal chimes twinkling in the wind. She knows that with her young idol’s background there will many things he would need someone who could help him by his side.
“Kairos~ Father says that the difference between a Beast’s Flames from other flames is the imprint it has of the beast it once belonged to. Because of this, it naturally has a will of its own.
The other kinds of Alchemic Flames are Heaven’s Flame, Earth’s Flame, Cultivated Flame and Spirit Flame.
Each of them has their unique properties, and can create unthinkable effects in combat.”
A Beast’s Flame is created by the consistent cultivation of an enlightened beast. When given enough time to nurture, it will gain strength and sentience. However, because it does not have a soul, it is merely able to think for itself and react to its owner, but unable to grow or cultivate itself.
“Whoa… there are quite a few types. By the way, what does imprint mean?”
If the other students, or a less shellshocked Diff, had heard this question, they would have burst out laughing from their lack of knowledge, but these boys were never afraid to ask. Relestia, however, seriously explained like a little teacher, “Hmmm, having an imprint means that if you make your Unknown Flame Sovereign loyal to you and then develop it properly, you can summon an avatar of the beast it came from. Because it has a will of its own, it makes a great pet!”
“I can summon Surtr, one day!?”
“Thank you Relestia,” Kairos said appreciating her help, and immediately the girl beamed like she was praised.
Seeing her smile, he somehow felt a desire to see her adorable reactions even more, and so he said with a grin, “I’ve made the purple flame loyal to me already.”
A look of pure, candid, amazement crossed the little princess’ face like she wished to spring up with shock and happiness, but had to force it down for propriety sake. And this made a rare smile to form on his face.
“Impossible!” Diff cried out, “Subduing a Beast’s Flame isn’t that simple. You need to gain respect from the Flame, more than the Divine Beast it belonged to!”
Since it has consciousness, the cultivator needs to subdue the Beast’s Flame by proving himself superior to the one that created it. It is unbelievable to achieve this almost instantly. Kairos, on the other hand, did not feel any difficulty in earning the absolute faithfulness of this tiny purple flame.
When its seal was broken, the first thing it felt was the wrath of two divine dragons superior to even its original master, and it instantly devoted itself to Kairos.
It quickly merged itself as an auxiliary energy within its new master’s body, and travelled throughout his body, trying to display its power to its master, till Kairos coaxed it to enter the Dantian where energy is stored. Kairos’ Ki Centre, was tiny compared to its previous master. However, the energy within is circulated in a way that can only be called perfect.
Whatever cultivation method its new master is using, it is far more marvellous than anything it had seen before, even back in the celestial realm.
Unfortunately, having gained a flame that even Pill Masters would envy, Kairos did not know what to do with it. He had spent all his time catching up the knowledge he had missed in the past and had yet the time to delve into a new subject.
Excusing herself, Diff quietly walked out of the auditorium as collectedly as her quivering feet could bring her. The class had long been dismissed because of the potential danger, and she no longer has a reason to stay.
She had left without hearing the answer from Kairos. She knows that she has no hold over him to hear his purpose for the flame.
But after this incident, she has turned strangely subdued. A manner she would not change towards Kairos in the years to come.
In her mind, she secretly questioned her family’s decision to oppose such a ‘being’.
After all that had happened, she could hardly believe that this boy is even human. What she left had unsaid, however, was the identity of the Flame that Kairos had made his.
“The Unknown Flame Sovereign has been claimed. The old master must know!”
Kairos is far from the first that tried to claim Surtr’s flame, but he is the only one in Gaia that succeeded. It is certain that the news of this will soon ripple across the empire like a gigantic wave.
