CH. 429

At around the same time, far away, deep under the ground, within a cave filled with flowing lava, an elegant young adult wearing an impressive dark red armor looked awkwardly at eleven young women all wearing the same kind of gear as him.

They all had something special though, well, a few things.

First, they all had two black horns. Second, they were all daughters of that one man.

That man was one of the Evil, the Chaos. He was a pure-blood ancient dragon. And right now, he was facing one of the greatest challenge he ever had to face. He had to pick a single one out of the eleven daughters facing him. He needed to pick the one that would be allowed to take part in the challenge for the next Throne.

There was one small problem though: they were all at the 69th stage and all of them desired that Throne.

Only the 12th did not want to take part but that did not change the problematic. He could only send one but eleven wanted to go.

And as a doting father, he did not know how to take care of this problem in a way that would satisfy them all.

They had been arguing between each other ever since he came back from the meeting and he had enough. They had nearly destroyed a hundred caves by now, it had to stop. So, he decided to call them all here but now that they were all here, and wearing their gear, he was in quite the dilemma.

It had already been an hour and a half and the silence was unlikely to be broken any time soon...

Or so he thought.

One of the daughters said: "Father, if you can't decide, we will do it ourselves! We can just fight and the last one alive will go!"

"No!" he hurriedly screamed.

If they fought to the deaths, everything would be destroyed around here! Oh, and ten of them would die too. This was unnacceptable!

"Then pick one of us, father!" said another.

And from then, it became extremely loud within the cave.

After only a few minutes, it exhausted him so much that he screamed: "Enough! All of you just go and eliminate the other candidates! We will figure out the rest after that!"

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

Only after he said did he realize what he said as he looked at all his grinning daughters.

Before he could even tell them to wait, the ceiling and all the other celilings had been broken and eleven gigantic dragons were soaring through the clouds.

"Fuck this...whatever" he sighed before he decided to simply give up and go to bed to hibernate some more.

...

It was a few minutes later that another dragon left the cave, unseen by her dad but seen by just about everything else considering that she was a gigantic dragon.

...

The news about the Throne's candidates was spreading fast and all the great forces around the world were thinking of their next moves. They had no choice but to take an active part in this or, at the very least, clearly state their official position about it.

It was either a question of riding the wave or making sure not to be forced into riding it.

That being said, most of the Righteous factions were thinking about how to completely stop this wave.

In a small cabin at the top of a barren mountain, two men were sipping tea.

One of them was Gheligst, a friend of Cao Lei's. The other was a bald man with a chinese character on his forehead.

"Are you sure that this is what you want, Gheligst?"

Gheligst answered: "I won't ever have this kind of opportunity, old friend. With the death of Cao Lei and the victory of Saint Hae-Hyuk, I am in a tight spot. I likely won't be successful with the Righteous faction because of Hae-Hyuk. Rather than staying forever at the 69th stage and dying there, should I not give it a try?"

"..."

Gheligst: "Are you against it?"

"Not really but I can tell you with certainty that you will die"

Gheligst laughed: "Who knows? Fate is sometimes mysterious"

The baldy looked through the window and stated firmly: "It is rational for those who can see it. You will die on this path. All kinds of Saints are making their moves."

Gheligst remained silent and sighed: "What if I don't? Do you think I will reach the 70th stage?"

The baldy looked back at Gheligst with a sad smile. No words needed to be exchanged.

Gheligst bowed to the man: "Please nominate me, Highness Crawler"

The bald man, the Crawler, sighed as he looked once more towards the window: "...Alright. Enjoy your remaining time, my old friend"

Gheligst got back up. He was alone.

He looked at the window and whispered with a sad smile: "Thank you, my old friend"

Sofia looked at the file the twins just handed to her.

They finally came back after having been away for so long. Looking for traces of Jin ended up fruitless.

She read the file that was filled with nothing but empty conjectures while eating some delicious sand cakes. At the very least, the souvenirs they brought back were quite nice.

As for Jin... Well, she learnt of his situation like just about the entire world.

He had been nominated to become a potential candidate for the next Evil Throne.

How did it come to this? Such a nice guy... How could he allow himself to turn towards the Evil? It was against everything she believed in herself.

After so long, was he even still Jin? Did she really even need to still try to find him?

What next? Even if she found him, he was now part of the Evil...

She burnt the file within her hands and ate another cake.

It was unfortunate but she could no longer consider him a part of her family.

He was Evil.
