CH. 275

Jin was not interested in any deals at the moment. He was trying to lay low and this seemed fishy. Then again, he had to act like the random wanderer he tried to impersonate. He took a sip from his mug and still without turning his face, he stated in the same tone: "I'm listening"

The man next to him grinned. They had not even seen each other's faces but he believed he knew what the man next to him thought. He was already considering this man baited. Now, he only to hook and reel it. With no changes whatsoever to his posture, demeanor or speed, he took out a small leaflet from within his battle robe inside chest pocket. Then, he slipped it silently towards Jin. Then, he finished his entire mug in one sitting and got up. As he left, without another glance, he stated: "We hope to see you there, friend".

Jin glanced at the leaflet. It was black colored and without any letters, inscriptions or anything over it. He picked it up and placed it within his own inside pocket. Then, he drank the remainder within his mug and left the bar. He went to the inn side to get a room and once in there, he checked the leaflet once again.

From your average eye, it did not seem to be anything special. However, any cultivators with a bit of respect for himself would be capable enough to sense the small energy waves coming from it. Jin used his secret eye technique to check its contents...And there were none.

Instead, he could see intricate runes and formations all over it. Was this a tracking device? Had he been found out? Were they just leaving this as a tracker to find where he would spend the night?

It was possible...

...but did they know he would be able to find out?

After all, without a technique as good as his, it would have been difficult to find out the truth behind that piece of seemingly ordinary paper. He decided to wait for it and lay his own trap. Regardless of who was behind this, they were unlikely to make a mess within the city. If they did, the best-case scenario was for them to lose Jin to the city owners. It was more likely that the owners would kill them to silence them first and make use of Jin themselves. Since everyone knew what kind of items he owned, it was unlikely that they would let him go anywhere before making sure he spat everything he could spit.

As such, he did not believe it would be too dangerous. More than that, they were underestimating him. Now, he had the advantage... It would be better for him to take them out now. If he escaped, rumors of him being here might spread. He needed to know who he was faced with first at the very least.

He placed the piece of paper on a bedside table and arranged the bed to make it seem like someone was asleep within. Then, he went to the closet and opened it. He entered and made two holes from the inside so that one could see from inside. He left the closet next and went on to check the width of the wall. With a small knock, and thanks to his senses, he knew that it was breakable easily. He repeated the same action for both the ceiling and the floor. All breakable if needed.

He made two holes in the ceiling just a meter away from the entrance and another two a meter away from the sole window in the room. He proceeded to do the same for the floor.

The door opened inside so he went to place himself next to the door. If it opened, he would be hidden behind it. Unless they decided to blast the whole room or building, this was the best option.

The first thing they would do would be to check the bed, attracted by the fake figure of a sleeping being. Next, their sights would likely end towards the closet and, as cultivators, they would see the two holes he made previously. These would give him two chances to find out who was behind it and decided on whether to ambush or flee.

The holes were prepared for the fleeing. With a simple small shot of spiritual energy, he could blast open both the ceiling and floor and leave through one of the openings depending on the situation or use them as diversion and break the wall. It was the best he could do.

Fleeing would do no good as he would still be pursued by someone. If he could take them down now, it would be a great benefit. Hiding while being chased was much harder than while not being chased after all...

From here on out, he only had to wait for someone to come. And patience was no longer something he lacked. He could remain motionless for as long as it was required...

...

In a lavish living room, a man was enjoying fine wine and watching an orchestra play a relaxing tune while grabbing a beauty with his other arm. This man was the owner of the black-market of Mirhanwen. And soon, there would be a new auction. In fact, it was scheduled for the next night. He had sent his men to give out the last invitations. There was one in particular that he was most interested about.

Even though he was being pleased mentally by the music and physically by his partner, he remained anxious and could not enjoy himself. He was anxiously waiting for his second and butler to come report.

After waiting some more, the doors opened and the man who gave a paper to Jin appeared. He wore a pristine robe and looked particularly scholarly. As he arrived, neither his boss nor his woman nor the orchestra stopped what they were doing. He was used to it. Though he had a few questions for his boss this time...
