Jin knew of the greed element. It was one of the elements he pondered of acquiring back in the days when he trained with liquid elements. In fact, he studied all seven sins. They were all strong elements and placed in the restricted list. Of course, at the time, Jin did not think of checking that list. Instead, he thought of the seven sins as they were famous in his previous world. Thinking of how to impact the opponent's psyche led him to those.
So, he was very much aware of the dangers of this element.
He tried to find some to use himself back then but was forbidden by Hae-Hyuk from doing so. And at that time, without the help of his Master, it was impossible to get anything like that.
Greed by itself was nothing much. Everyone was greedy in some ways. The danger of it was in its quantity. All beings had some but if it went beyond a certain point, it became an obsession. It paralyzed one's brain from thinking of other things. In the end, rationality is being lost little by little to be replaced by that obsession.
Jin observed the 'dome' he was in. The density of the element was high enough that it would impact everyone within and push them to be greedier. It was not enough for them to become completely out of it. Continuous exposure would still be very threatening though. The more 'greed' one absorbed, the greedier one got.
And right now, Jin could not protect himself from it.
In order to do so, he would have needed something like the 'calm' element which he did not have right now. He did not go buy any rings or 'materialized elements' because his fighting style was well-known all over the place. It was likely a bad move on his part. He should have been prepared for this at least. He berated himself internally for a moment. His cautiousness was what got him in this trap.
Still, he tried to find a solution.
Covering himself in spiritual energy would certainly work. However, people here were all cultivators. They would notice it. Best case scenario, he would end up having to explain about the floating element in the air and that would lead him to make an enemy of whoever controlled this. That whoever likely being the big boss on this island. He could not afford to offend anyone. And the worst case was, as its name implied, worst. If the best was not enough, then there was no need to consider anything else.
He could not cover himself in a protective layer of energy.

If he had been at the 10th stage, it would have been easier. He would have simply made use of the 'calm' element. Of course, those were only his thoughts. As he had not much knowledge on how to acquire the elements after reaching the 10th stage, he thought he would be able to use most of them he was 'familiar' with from the start...
Of course, coating himself in the corruption would protect him but that was a very bad move as well.
In the end, there was nothing he could do. Even though he knew what was going on, his mind was getting greedier by the second. He wanted to make money. And the casino was where one could get wealthy quickly.
Sighing, he started walking upwards again. He could not resist the urge he was feeling. Fortunately, at the moment, he was still aware of himself and should not have any problems leaving the next day. His growing greed for money made it so that he was unable to see himself losing any. And he spent a lot on the preparations for the trip.
In his mind, there was only one thought revolving: "Make money while I am still here"
He grinded his teeth as he kept walking. He was aware of being tricked but unable to act. He felt forced yet not. He both wanted and did not want to.
He looked at the people around him. They were all walking hurriedly upwards. He did not need to use any techniques to witness the greed in their eyes. Most of them were beyond saving and already lost themselves. He could see a few people frowning as they walked up, just like him. Some nodded to him as they acknowledged a comrade facing the same predicament.
But in the end, resistance was useless and his steps led him at the top of the stairs and the entrance of the floating island.
It was a giant door with golden letters on top of it, proudly declaring the name of the establishment: "G's Castle"
Was the owner someone whose name began with a G? Jin suspected it had to do more with greed though. He believed that the owner was probably strong enough that he could broadly admit the truth and still be fine after that.
It was clear that this kind of set-up was not within everyone's reach. Just the floating island was beyond the majority of people.
At the very least, Jin believed that this whole thing was created through an array or something similar. He couldn't believe that it could be the work of a single being. Keeping this up continuously was too much.
It did not matter much as his steps led him over the door.
He arrived within a gigantic complex that seemed like it housed a whole city within itself. It seemed like people did not go on top of the island but within it. At the very least, the inside of the island was completely open and filled with all kinds of buildings brightly lit in many different colors. As he moved around the streets, he noticed how every building seemed to offer a different kind of service or game.
Strangely though, he kept walking forward, towards the biggest building he could see. A tower in the very middle of the island. It was so high that it seemed to connect the ground to the ceiling. Actually, it did. It was at least hundreds of meters high.
Jin felt an impulse to ignore everything else and focus on this particular tower... It gave him a very bad premonition but he did not stop moving.
